Is Fethullah Gülen trying to win a high political or worldly position?

No. Fethullah Gülen has said, “If I were to prefer this world, to prefer to be at the top of the State, I would have looked for a position in certain places where such preferences could be realized.” He has never pursued such goals, but has lived his whole life, including his youth, as an ascetic. Recalling his early years, when worldly prospects were available to him, he says of himself, “If this person refused all the opportunities that came to his doorstep and rather headed for his wooden hut in his youth, how could he have such desires now when he spends every night “as if this were my last”? I think all of these accusations of seeking position or power arise from the accusers’ feelings of hatred.”
