Dissension and the Attitude of Abel

One should not search for solutions in illegitimate ways. Meşrû yolların dışında yol aramamalı.
One should not act with a Machiavellian mentality. Makyavelistçe hareket etmemeli.
One should follow the path of the Prophets. Hep Peygamberler Yolu'nda yürümeli.
With a sense of direction and purpose. İstikâmet içinde olmalı.
Even if the entire world is using illegitimate means to achieve their ends this should not have any effect on a true believer.
A believer should not change his/her direction, should not end up on different paths. O, yol değiştirmemeli, yanlış güzergahlara sapmamalı.
Even if they lose their lives because of the path they chose, they should not revert. Doğru yürüdüğünden dolayı öldürseler bile, el kaldırmamalı.
They should not even retaliate in the same way. Mukabele-i bi'l-misil kâide-i zâlimânesinde bulunmamalı.
One should act like Abel, not like Cain. Hâbil gibi hareket etmeli, Kâbil gibi davranmamalı.
Abel says to his brother who is filled with jealousy: Hâbil, hasetle dopdolu kardeşine diyor ki:
'Yet if you stretch out your hand against me to kill me, I will not stretch out my hand against you to kill you. "Sen beni öldürmek için elini uzatsan da, ben seni öldürmek için elimi uzatacak değilim.
Surely I fear God, the Lord of the worlds' (Al-Maedah, 5:28). Hiç şüphesiz ben, Âlemlerin Rabbi'nden korkarım" (Mâide, 5:28).
He says, 'If you stretch your hand to kill me I will not retaliate, because by doing so you will are among the companions of Hell'. "Bana elini uzatsan, silahınla üzerime gelsen, öldürmeye teşebbüs etsen, ben sana el kaldırmam" diyor; "Çünkü sen, öyle yapmakla esasen, kaybediyorsun, Cehennem'e yuvarlanıyorsun."
In the morning, we read a tradition that said, 'If two believers intended to kill each other, the murderer and the victim are hell bound. Sabah, Müslim-i Şerif'te gördüğümüz hadisler çerçevesinde, "İki mü'min birbirini öldürmek üzere teşebbüs ederlerse, maktûl de Cehennem'e gider, kâtil de.
Because if the murderer had not murdered the victim he would have been murdered himself. Çünkü kâtil onu öldürmeseydi, o (maktûl) onu öldürecekti.
Both of them intended to kill one another.' İkisi de öldürmeye niyet etmişti."
Both of them had evil intentions and both will be punished for them.
Especially in our day, when the physical sword has been put aside, we should respond to attacks with the diamond tenets of the Qur'an.
Whatever they may say, regardless of the way they may insult and slander you, you should refrain from responding in the same manner.
Even if they lie, falsely accuse you and call it a 'confession', try to undermine your position in the eyes of the general public by labelling you as lackadaisical, you should not use the same methods to retaliate. Yalan söyleseler, "İtiraf" deyip iftirada bulunsalar, karalasalar, komplolar düzenleseler, sizi halkın nazarından düşürmek için akla-hayale gelmedik şeyler yapsalar, meselâ tâife-i nisâ ile buluşturmak suretiyle size bohemlik isnadında bulunsalar ve halk nazarında kıymetinizi yerle bir etseler, katiyen aynı mukabeleye başvurmamalı.
Because being a true human being is a barrier against this kind of behaviour; having the potential to be the best of creation is a barrier. Çünkü gerçek insan olmak, bunlara mânidir; "ahsen-i takvîm"e mazhariyet, bunları yapmaya izin vermez.
A creature whom God has created with all his manifestations should not swoop to such pathetic behaviour, those who do swoop display how they have lowered themselves. Allah'ın kıvamında yarattığı bir varlık, böyle kıvamsızlık eseri olan şeylere katiyen tenezzül etmemeli; tenezzül edenler, kendi zilletlerini ortaya koymuş olurlar.
From this perspective, in different eras throughout history before and after our Prophet there have always been similar events on a small magnitude.
And at other times great dissensions have occurred. Bazen çok büyük fitneler de vuku bulmuş.
For instance; in the time of Ali ibn Abi Talib's reign, the Harurites, the Kharijites and the Umayyad's objection to him. Mesela; Hazreti Ali döneminde Harûrîlerin hareketi, Hâricîlerin hareketi, Emevîlerin ona karşı çıkması.
Despite this opposition, the noble Ali remained steadfast on his path. Bütün bu hadiseler karşısında Hazreti Ali efendimiz asla istikâmetten ayrılmamıştır.
I had mentioned this on another occasion, they once said to him: Başka bir vesile ile arz etmiştim, O'na demişler ki:
'The Harurites are in such-and-such place, gathered in a central spot and are all together; and plan to attack you. "Harûrîler, filan yerde, bir temerküz (bir noktada/merkezde bir araya gelme), bir tahaşşüd (toplanma, yığılma) içindeler; size hücum edecekler.
Before they attack you, if you take the initiative, you will defeat them', however in response the noble Imam asked the question, 'How do we know with certainty that they will attack us?' Onlar size hücum etmeden, -yerleri, şu- şu yol, şu yöntem ile hareket ederseniz, tepelerine binersiniz onların" fakat, "Ne mâlum bize hücum edecekleri?" demiş koca İmam.
Upon this Abu Hanifa, uses Ali ibn Abu Talib's statement for his ruling: Ebû Hanife, fetvasını Hazreti Ali efendimizin o beyanına bina ediyor:
'If you are unaware that an enemy will attack you with certainty, you cannot act; even if there is a probable intention of harm or loss of your wealth. "Size saldırıları/taarruzları kat'î olmadıktan sonra, mukabelede bulunulmaz; malınıza, canınıza kastetme ihtimali bile olsa."
The dissension and sedition during that period and those that follow has been outlined in books of Prophetic tradition called 'Book of Dissensions and Battlefields'.
The plural for dissension has multiple meanings like trial, hardship, troublesome, tribulation, affliction, disgrace and torture.
Over time this word has been used to replace words like disbelief, sin, disagreement, hostility, humiliation and deviation from the truth and in fact all types of evil acts.
Battlefields are mentioned as well. Melâhim ise; melhame kelimesinin çoğuludur; melhame, savaş meydanı demektir.)
This is discussed towards the end of another Book of Prophetic Tradition. Müslim-i Şerif'in de sonuna doğru gelirken böyle bir bölüm yer alıyor.
It is mentioned in other hadith books. Çok hadis kitabında da öyle olmuş.
The topics discussed in 'Book of Dissensions and Battlefields' are also explored in other books; for instance the signs of the Judgement Day have been explained.
God's Messenger being the last Prophet, it started in his period. Efendimiz'in âhirzaman Peygamberi olması itibariyle, tâ o dönemden başlamış.
Those who tortured him were those filled with corruption; including the Abu Jahl's, Utba's, Shayba's, Abu Muayt's, forgive my expression, many others damned by God. O'na çektirenler, âhirzamanın o fitne-fesat insanları; Ebu Cehil'ler, Utbe'ler, Şeybe'ler, İbn Ebî Muayt'lar, -bağışlayın- Allah belası daha kimler.
However the Prophet never retaliated against them; indeed, he responded like Abel.
He was in Mecca for 13 years. On üç sene Mekke-i Mükerreme'de.
The sentences, pages, paragraphs found in books cannot accurately describe what he suffered; however they have been explained to some extent so that, man can be made aware of the ugliness that he may encounter; especially if one can comprehend the actual intent behind it, can be made to understand how detestable and low it is.
The Pride of Humanity was subjected to evil never before seen in history. İnsanlığın İftihar Tablosu'na, tarihin hiçbir döneminde yapılmayan kötülükler yapılmış.
In the words of the noble Imam of Alvar, if the hardship that had befallen upon the Prophet had been placed on Mt Everest, it would instantly been destroyed and transformed into the Dead Sea. Alvar İmamı hazretlerinin ifadesiyle, O'nun (sallallâhu aleyhi ve sellem) başına gelen şeyler, Everest tepesinin başına binseydi, birden bire erir giderdi o dağ, Lût gölüne dönerdi.
The Imam of Alvar says, 'Swords would have got in the way.' O (Alvar İmamı) böyle demiyor da, "Araya kılıç girerdi" diyor.
But the Prophet did not raise his hand, he did not retaliate. Fakat O, elini kaldırmadı, mukabele-i bi'l-misilde bulunmadı.
In fact, he did not retaliate until God sent an order during the Battle of Badr about the right and permission for self-defense. Hatta Bedir savaşında Allah'tan emir geleceği, meşru müdafaa hakkı/izni verileceği âna kadar.
Until the following verse was revealed, 'The believers against whom war is waged are given permission to fight in response, "Kendilerine savaş açılan mü'minlere, mukabil olarak savaşma izni verildi.
for they have been wronged. Çünkü onlar, pek çok yönden zulme maruz kaldılar.
Surely, God has full power to help them to victory' (Al-Hajj, 22:39). Kuşkusuz Allah, onlara yardım edip zafer bahşetmeye kadirdir" (Hac, 22:39) âyeti nâzil olacağı âna kadar.
Companions like Zayd ibn Harithah and Hamza, who were fearless, would look into God's Messenger's eyes and say, 'Permission, O Messenger of God!' Sahabe efendilerimiz, Zeyd İbn Hârise, Hazreti Hamza gibi gözünü budaktan esirgemeyen insanlar, Allah Rasûlü'nün gözünün içine bakıyorlar; "İzin yâ Rasûlallah" diyorlar.
Firstly, their devotion is complete in this matter. Evvela onların o mevzudaki teslimiyetlerine can kurban.
They displayed their devotion to him until permission was granted from his scarlet lips.
The instant that verse is revealed, they did what was needed to be done, and they overcome the matter with God's leave.
The enemy comes on to them with plans of 'diversion', 'precaution', 'disintegration', in fact to 'root it out'. Karşı taraf, tamamen "tenkîl" mülahazasıyla, "tedmîr" mülahazasıyla, "tetbîr" mülahazasıyla, "ibâde" mülahazasıyla, yani "kökten kazıma" mülahazasıyla üzerlerine geliyor, mekanize birliklerle.
Until that day, they had not entered a battle on such a scale requiring such tactics.
But when God wills, it occurs. Ama Allah emir verince, yapıyorlar.
There appeared 'distinguished' Angels who created fifty forms of chaos, they demoralised the polytheists and caused them to taste defeat. "Münzelîn" (özel indirilen) ve "Müsevvimîn" (nişanlı ve işaretli bulunan) melâike-i kiram, elli türlü velvele ile, gürültü ile iniyor, karşı tarafın moralini bozuyor ve müşriklere orada bir hezimet yaşatıyor.
By God's leave, the spiritual power of the believers peaked once again. Müslümanların da kuvve-i maneviyeleri -zaten var olan kuvve-i maneviyeleri- bir kat daha zirve yapıyor, Allah'ın izni ve inâyetiyle.
But the main point; think about it: Ama asıl mesele; bakın, düşünün:
When he graces Medina, the Luminous City, with his presence, two years pass with no action. Medine-i Münevvere'ye teşrif buyuruyor, ikinci sene burada geçiyor.
Across thirteen years in Mecca, he is exposed to unimaginable oppression, torment and pain. On üç sene de Mekke-i Mükerreme'de ezâ-cefâ, akla-hayale gelmedik şenâat, denâet, fezâate maruz kalıyor.
Yet the Messenger of God does not raise his hand to strike. Fakat Allah Rasûlü, elini kaldırmıyor.
Yes, he behaves like Abel, like Prophet Abraham and like Prophet Noah. Evet, Hâbil gibi davranıyor, Hazreti İbrahim gibi davranıyor, Hazreti Nuh gibi davranıyor.
When he was obliged, (just like Prophet Noah) he would say, 'I have been overcome, Muztarr kaldığı zaman, (Hazreti Nuh gibi)
so help me!' Yardım et" diyor.
And the other Prophets said similar things. Ve diğer peygamberler de aynı şeyleri söylüyorlar.
Throughout their lives, they invite people to the truth, try to open their eyes; however, those people whose eyes are closed, their ears are blocked, their hearts are dead, always act negatively towards those positive voices.
However no Prophet engages in retaliation to them. Fakat hiçbir peygamber, onlara karşı mukabele-i bi'l-misilde bulunmuyor.
This path is the path of the Prophets. Bu yol, peygamberler yolu.
When it comes to the others; what kinds of cruelty are they perpetuating based on delusions: Diğerine gelince; bir kısım vehimlere binaen ne zulümler irtikap ediyorlar:
'They are related to such-and-such, these too are related to such-and-such. "Bunlar da falanlara mensup, bunlar da filanlara mensup.
They have used ByLock, therefore; grab them and throw them inside.' ByLock kullanmışlar, dolayısıyla onlardan; tut, at içeriye bunları."
Let the children die, the mothers die. Çocuklar ölsün, analar ölsün.
Let families drown whilst crossing the Maritsa River. Meriç'i geçerken, aileler boğulsun.
Hundreds of families are there; let their corpses remain in the water. Yüzlerce aile orada; cesetleri suyun içinde kalsın.
What a grudge, hatred, intolerance, envy. Fakat bir kin, bir nefret, bir hazımsızlık, bir çekememezlik.
But even if it is so, one should not engage in the injustice of responding in like. Ha böyle bile olsa, bence, mukabele-i bi'l-misil kaide-i zâlimânesinde bulunmamak lazım.
Yes, people may do everything; they may accuse you of the impossible. Evet, başkaları her şeyi yapabilir; hiç olmayacak şeyleri size isnad edebilirler.
Look; let me mention things that have happened: Bakın; olmuş şeylerden bahsedeyim size:
Did somebody say this or not? Birileri dedi mi demedi mi?
'Sir, these people will destroy us by destroying the fault lines in the earth...' "Efendim, bunlar, fayları kırmak suretiyle bizi helak edecekler.,."
That is, this movement, this community has things, has spells, mysterious strengths, powers that can destroy fault lines in the earth.
People will not know where the faults lines are. O faylar nerededir, onu bilmez bu insanlar; sizin insanınız bilmez fayların nerede olduğunu.
Perhaps seismologists will know; maybe they can predict when an earthquake will occur. Belki Jeologlar (Sismologlar) bilirler; belki zelzelenin önceden olacağını bilirler.
I think that even they cannot speak on how strong it may be. Zannediyorum onlar bile şiddeti mevzuunda kat'î bir şey söyleyemezler.
God knows... They say, 'It will be a magnitude of three, four, five,' and it happens at a magnitude of six. They say it will be a 'six,' and it occurs at a three. Allahu A'lem, "Üç şiddetinde, dört şiddetinde, beş şiddetinde olacak" derler, altı şiddetinde olur; "altı" derler, üç şiddetinde olur.
Even they cannot have certainty on the matter. Onlar bile meseleyi kestirip atamazlar.
But one of them stood up and said, 'Sir, by destroying the fault lines these people will seek their revenge from you.'
If a meteor falls onto them from the sky one day—they may deserve for it to happen 50 times over and God may make it fall—if it falls on a place they are found in, they will say, 'These people have influenced the devils in the sky; this meteor has fallen onto us because of those devils.'
They may say it; for whatever they have done to this day is a reference to the possibility of them doing such a thing. Diyebilirler; çünkü şimdiye kadar yaptıkları şeyler, bu türlü şeyleri yapabilecekleri adına birer referans mahiyetinde.
Yes, these people could do such a thing. Evet, bunu yapabilirler bunlar.
What else can they do? Daha neyi yapabilirler?
They can also do this one day: Bir gün şunu da yapabilirler:
They will bring two live bombs out; from their own. İki tane canlı bomba, ortaya sürerler; kendilerinden.
Those slaying-and-slain types exist anyway; they are both murderers and murdered. Zaten o türlü -böyle- kendini öldüren, kâtil-maktuller vardır; hem kâtildir, hem maktûldür.
And people who kill themselves, who commit suicide in this manner will go to an eternal Hellfire like an unbeliever.
This can be done by ISIS, Boko Haram, or Al-Mourabitoun; it can be done by others too.
Today, this has become a common global practice, it has become something usual. Şimdi, dünyanın her yerinde yapılagelen bir şey halini aldı, ahvâl-i âdiyeden bir şey haline geldi.
Forgive me, but they find two unstable types like this; and they turn them against each other Böyle iki tane -bağışlayın- sergerdan bulurlar; bunları birbirine düşürürler.
What do you base this assumption on? Nereden çıkarıyorsun bunu?
The portrait they paint, to date, proves that the route is clear. Şu âna kadar ortaya koydukları tablo, buna kadar yolun açık olduğunu gösteriyor.
if any of you are walking along the street and by someone's command a women could come up to you and embrace you, Sizden biriniz caddede yürürken, bir bayana emretmelerine ve onun sizin boynunuza sarılmasına kadar.
and right at that moment, they will capture this in a photograph. Hemen, şip-şak orada fotoğrafınızı çekmelerine kadar.
And hurl accusations unto you. "Bakın filanın haline" demelerine kadar.
To slander your reputation. İtibarınızı yerle bir etmelerine kadar.
It seems certain that they will take it to this extent. Buna kadar her şeyi yapmaya kararlı görünüyorlar.
Their intention is to make you 'perish', to 'isolate', manage with 'cautiousness'; these come from Arabic words which mean to bring to a total stop, to end. Çünkü tam bir "ibâde"ye, "tenkîl"e, "tedmîr"e, "tetbîr"e niyet etmişler; bunlar Arapça kelimeler, tamamen bitirme, kökünü kazıma demek.
In different places around the world, they use large amounts of money to close these blessed establishments. Bakın dünyanın değişik yerlerinde, o mübarek ışık müesseselerini söndürmek için etek etek para döküyorlar.
Despite exhausting the treasury, where no money remains; they still continue, they say, 'To defeat them is our grand purpose in life; if we ruin them then we have won; and we can claim our Nobel prize.' Hazineyi bitirmişler, bir yerde bir kuruş kalmamış; fakat "Olsun" diyorlar, "Bunları bitirme, bir gâye-i hayaldir; bunları bitirirsek, kazandık; Nobel ödülü alırız."
Taking all this into consideration, evaluating the situation from a macro perspective, we need to consider the possibility of such things.
In different cities, they could find three to five unstable types. Değişik şehirlerde üç-beş tane sergerdan bulabilirler.
Unexpectedly, in different places, they could do such things. Birkaç yerde, birden bire, bu türlü şeyleri yapabilirler.
They will masquerade by choosing one person to be a spokesperson to say: 'I was a visitor in these houses'; 'I graduated from their schools'.
Their own people and children that graduated from those schools, yet they make people slander: Kendilerinin bile o okullardan mezun olmayanı çok azdır ama öyle dedirtirler:
'I studied in these schools.' "Ben, bu okullarda okumuştum."
Meaning, 'These things were taught to me in these institutions.'
By saying such things, making one say these things, aiming to defame those connected to this community, doing everything within their power. Böyle demek/dedirtmek suretiyle, dırahşan çehreli bu Cemaat mensuplarını karalamak için, ellerinden gelen her şeyi yaparlar.
One day if someone resorts to such acts of barbarity and brutality.
God willing, may they never have enough courage to resort to such atrocities İnşaallah, bu türlü şeylere başvurmaya cesaret edemezler, teşebbüs edemezler.
Further, by virtue of my good opinion, I'll say: Hatta hüsnüzannıma binaen diyeyim:
The Anatolian people, cannot be this shallow, this animalistic; 'They are like cattle (following only their instincts)—rather, even more astray (from the right way and in need of being led). Those are the unmindful and heedless' (Al-A'raf 7:179), this verse cannot be referring to them.
This is my good assumption of them. Bu da benim hüsnüzannım.
However, if one day they turn to such ways, what falls upon us is to say, as the noble Abel says: Fakat bir gün, bu olumsuz şeylere bile teşebbüs etseler, bize düşen şey, Hazreti Hâbil gibi demektir:
'Yet if you stretch out your hand against me to kill me, I will not stretch out my hand against you to kill you. "Sen beni öldürmek için elini uzatsan da, ben seni öldürmek için elimi uzatacak değilim.
Surely I fear God, the Lord of the worlds' (Al-Maedah, 5:28). Hiç şüphesiz ben, Âlemlerin Rabbi'nden korkarım" (Mâide, 5:28).
If you come towards me with your weapon, a scimitar, Sen silahınla, kamanla, kordanla (Korda:
or an atomic bomb, then I will enclose myself into my house, or into my store and still I will not stretch out my hand toward you.
To a great extent, these were exhibited by you, your friends. They toiled and with the proceeds built schools, university preparatory courses while their homes were being raided. Bunu büyük ölçüde, sen, senin arkadaşların sergiledi; alın teri ile kazandıkları, amele gibi çalışıp yaptıkları okulları, üniversiteye hazırlık kursları, evleri işgal edilirken.
Although those invaders, usurpers, oppressors and assaulters took over those institutions, your friends did not retaliate. Bir kısım işgalciler, mütegallipler, mütehakkimler, mutasallıtlar, mütemellikler gelip o müesseselerin tepesine kondukları halde, mukabele etmediler.
I am saying this with the utmost belief, I saw it on television, and they did not even glare in retaliation. İnanarak söylüyorum, televizyonlar gösterdi, gördüğüm şeyleri ifade ediyorum; yüz ekşitmesiyle bile mukabelede bulunmadılar.
They begged and petitioned for 'justice' and 'rule of law' but the others understood it as the opposite. Yalvardılar, yakardılar, "Hukuk" dediler ama onlar, hukuku "guguk" anladılar; "adalet" dediler, onlar adaleti "dalalet" anladılar.
The oppressors acted according to their will, yet your friends acted in a way that suited them best.
Perhaps they are amongst you right now, scattered all over the globe like seedlings.
And this is Almighty God's providence. Bu da Cenâb-ı Hakk'ın bir takdiridir.
I would like to include as a side note: Antrparantez arz ediyorum:
God has done this by virtue of our merit. İstihkâkımıza binaen Cenâb-ı Hak, böyle yapmıştır.
God may have willed for this by virtue of our merit, or perhaps to occasion for greater goodness.
Indeed, we have not been able to make efficient use of the advantages and opportunities bestowed upon us. Biz, Cenâb-ı Hakk'ın bize lütfettiği avantajları, yerinde rantabl olarak değerlendirmemiş olabiliriz.
For example, with the opportunities in our hands why did we not build marquees in Mars, Uranus or Saturn and ask, 'Is there anyone here that can believe?'
Why didn't we explore that? Neden onun yolunu aramadık?
God Almighty may hold us accountable for this: Bunu sorabilir Cenâb-ı Hak bize:
'Your Prophet whom you love so dearly, did he not say my name will reach everywhere that the sun rises and sets over? Did he not set that as a target? "Hani sizin Peygamberiniz, yürekten bağlı bulunduğunuz Zat (sallallâhu aleyhi ve sellem), 'Benim adım, güneşin doğup-battığı her yere ulaşacaktır.' demiş, size bir hedef göstermişti.
God gave news of the unseen, just as he said 'Constantinople will be conquered', and just as he says 'my name will reach everywhere the sun sets and rises over'. Gayb-bîn gözüyle de bir gün öyle olacağını haber vermişti; 'İstanbul -kasem olsun- fethedilecektir.' dediği gibi 'Benim adım/nâmım, güneşin doğup-battığı her yere ulaşacaktır.' demişti.
'Why do you not exert any effort in pursuing of that goal?
A soft slap of Divine Compassion. Bir şefkat tokadı, hafif böyle, böyle.
What did that make of you? Ne yaptı bu sizi?
You were dispersed around the world like seeds. Dünyanın değişik yerlerine tohumlar olarak saçtı.
However, there is wisdom in everything He does. Fakat yaptığı şeyde yine hayır vardır.
Be a seed everywhere that you go. Siz, gittiğiniz her yerde tohum olun.
Fall into the heart of soil, and become spread in the heart of others. Toprağın bağrına düşün, oradaki insanların bağrına serpilin.
While you are a seed, sprout out to multiple stems and give way to thousands of more seeds. Sonra bir tohum iken, birkaç başak halinde meydana gelin; binlerce dâneyi netice verecek hale gelin.
Go to places that have never been visited and spread the Divine truths of faith.
Some of them will agree with all you say, some of them will agree with parts; Bazıları, bütünüyle kabullenir; bazıları, bazılarını kabul eder;
some others will say 'What you just said are indeed valuable facts'; bazıları, kendi değerlerinin yanında "Bunlar da birer değerdir" diyebilir;
while some others will say 'It is worth to be in dialogue with these people', bazıları, "Bunlar, diyaloga girilebilecek insanlar" türünden bakar;
and others will say, 'If they don't raise their hands against us then neither shall we.' bazıları, "Bunlar el kaldırmazsa, bunlara el kaldırmamak lazım" derler.
All these responses are gains that God offers you in response to your delicate, immaculate and transparent souls.
In this respect, we should look at everything we have been exposed to with this aspect, with God's leave and grace. Bu açıdan, mâruz kalınan şeylere böyle bakmalı, Allah'ın izni-inayetiyle.
We should really appreciate our situation under current circumstances and make the most of it.
It is probable that God allowed these to occur by virtue of a slap from His Divine Compassion.
If the opposing side had forced you to change the way you act, and said, 'Why would you stay in Turkey? Karşı taraftakiler, "Siz bu meseleyi böyle yapın" diye sizi böyle tutup savursalardı, "Niye duruyorsunuz Türkiye'de?
Go to other places around the world and spread your sacred and holy values' with sincerity, they would have received the rewards for their intentions and entered Paradise as 'Deeds are judged according to intentions.'
However as they are forcing you to go overseas as a result of their enmity, grudge, hatred, covetousness and will to destroy, the doors of goodness will be closed and locked on them. Whereas the doors of goodness will be wide opened for you, like castle gates. Fakat bir düşmanlığa, bir kine, bir nefrete, bir hasede, bir yok etme mülahazasına binaen, "Bunları yok etmek lazım" mülahazasına binaen yaptıklarından dolayı, sizin için hayır kapıları açıldı kale kapıları gibi, ardına kadar;
However, they have closed the doors of goodness. fakat onlar da o hayır kapılarını kapattılar, arkasına da sürgüler sürdüler.
They have done everything to stop goodness. "Bir daha hayır gelmesin" diye ellerinden gelen her şeyi yaptılar.
When the doors of goodness close, the doors of evil open. Hayır kapıları bütünüyle kapanınca, şer kapıları ardına kadar açılır.
In other words, as expressed by Al-Ghazali, 'When the doors letting the angels in close, other doors letting Satan in will be wide open.' Tâbir-i diğerle, Hazreti Gazzâlî'nin ifadesiyle, "Meleklerin nüfuz edeceği kapılar kapanınca, şeytanların nüfuz edeceği kapılar ardına kadar açılır."
They have opened wide the doors to Satan, may God protect us, and prepared for their own perdition and catastrophe.
Together with this, God is the All-Compassionate One and the Ruler of the World. Bununla beraber, Allah, Erhamürrâhimîn, Rabbü'l-âlemîn'dir.
'If God was to take people immediately to task for their wrongdoings, He would not leave on it (the earth) any living creature (as the wrongdoings of humankind would make the earth uninhabitable). But He grants them respite to a term appointed (by Him). "Eğer Allah, (şirkten daha başka hatalarına kadar) zulümleri sebebiyle insanları hemen cezalandıracak olsaydı, yeryüzünde hareket eden tek bir canlı bırakmazdı; fakat O, onları takdir buyurduğu bir vadeye kadar bekletmektedir.
When their term has come, they can neither delay it by a single moment, nor can they bring it forward' (An-Nahl, 16:61). Vadeleri gelince, onu ne bir an geciktirebilirler, ne de bir an öne alabilirler" (Nahl, 16:61).
Indeed, if God were to punish every transgressing creature instantly, there would be no creature left wandering the Earth. Evet, Allah, her zulmeden canlıyı hemen helak etse, yeryüzünde debelenen bir varlık kalmaz.
Animals attack and dismember each other; humans commit wrongs against each other. Hayvanlar, birbirlerini yiyorlar/parçalıyorlar; insanlar, birbirlerine karşı haksızlık yapıyorlar.
If every wrongdoing creature was to be executed, then there would be no living creatures left on Earth. Her haksızlık yapan, kulağından tutulup ipe götürülse, o zaman yeryüzünde hiçbir canlı kalmaz.
Because all of us have been involved in some form of wrongdoing. Çünkü hepimizin şöyle-böyle bir zulmü vardır.
'God defers, but does not neglect'. "Allah, imhâl eder, fakat ihmal etmez."
Just as courts often defer judgment, God gives an opportunity for people to think again, to reconsider, to reassess.
To think on principles of rightness, and devise or implement new pathways, new strategies on the topic.
For this reason, 'God defers, but does not neglect'. Bunun için "Allah, imhâl eder, fakat katiyen ihmal etmez."
Additionally, it has been said; One enriched through wrongs ends up in ruins', and we see this pattern repeating throughout history, like a sickening pattern stitched with a motif of ugly means for ugly ends.
For this reason, our attitude should be 'We are pleased with God as our Lord', Bu açıdan, olup biten şeyleri, "Rab olarak, Allah'tan razı olduk.
'We are pleased with Islam as our religion' and Din olarak İslam'dan hoşnuduz.
'We are pleased with Muhammad as our Prophet, wholeheartedly and with our whole being'.
May God never distance us from this attitude. Allah, bizi bu anlayıştan uzaklaştırmasın.
This was a separate issue; we touched on it as an aside.
If we get back to our original discussion, they can do whatever they wish, but we must stand behind what we have been doing until now.
Even against those who attack us viciously, we must not digress from the principle of proportionality of response. Cânice, vahşice el uzatanlara bile, mukabele-i bi'l-misil kâide-i zâlimânesinde bulunmamalıyız.
Perhaps the Holy Qur'an gives such permission in a specific time in history. Kur'an-ı Kerim, belki o ruhsatı veriyor, belli bir dönemde.
'If you have to respond to any wrong, respond (only) to the measure of the wrong done to you, "Size yapılan bir haksızlık ve kötü muameleye mukabele edecek olursanız, size yapılanın aynısıyla mukabelede bulunun.
but if you endure patiently, it is indeed better for the patient' (An-Nahl 16:126).
If they persecute you, you may respond proportionately and only to the extent of what is done to you, but there is a much better way.
If you endure in active patience, this is much better for you.
I am adding the qualification 'active', those who are familiar with our terminology will recognise this expression. "Aktif" kaydını koyuyorum; arkadaşlar, terminolojiye vakıf olanlar biliyorlar bunu.
It is not a placid patience. Durağan bir sabır değil.
Not a 'just wait, do not make a move, do not intervene in anything' type of patience. "Hele durun, bekleyin, karışmayın bir şeye."
Not like this. Hayır, öyle değil.
I am talking about a type of patience where you do whatever you can in the circumstances which God has placed you in.
You do whatever your circumstances permit, whatever the conditions require, and whatever opportunities allow. Orada şartlar, neye müsait ise, imkânlar neyi elveriyorsa, onları yaparsınız.
And this is what we call 'active patience'. Buna da "aktif sabır" diyoruz.
There is a reward for this patience, and at the same time a reward for being active and taking action.
Against all the negativity, showing serious effort, thus changing the course of the future, changing the colours of events.
Serious effort, just as the noble Prophet did in his time... To produce a new attractive pattern...
Don't let them say, 'Good gracious! "Allah Allah.
There are also people like this. Böyle insanlar da varmış.
They receive a slap, and behave like the noble Messiah: Tokat yiyorlar, Hazreti Mesih gibi davranıyorlar:
Turn and receive a slap on the other cheek as well, let them satisfy their grudge; then let them feel guilt and remorse'.
Yes, today is such a time. İşte, günümüz böyle bir gün.
One day, even if they attempt to get involved in the lowest of acts, you will do as your character requires, and not return evil with evil. Bir gün, biraz evvel bahsettiğim en şenî', en denî işlere teşebbüs etseler bile, siz, sizin karakterinizin gereğini yapacak, mukabele-i bi'l-misil kâide-i zâlimânesinde bulunmayacaksınız.
An old friend wrote in a newspaper: Bir eski dost, gazetede yazı yazmış;
'When the election times come, these people will connect with terrorist organisations'. "Seçim sath-ı mâiline girildiğinden, bunlar, bir kısım terör hareketlerine başvururlar" demiş.
However people of this community, despite being treated like terrorists for two years, have not even clenched their fists. Hâlbuki bu camianın insanları, iki senedir belki terör ölçüsünde baskılara maruz kaldıkları halde, yumruklarını bile sıkmadılar.
Yes, I am asking you: Evet, size soruyorum:
Have any of you seen something like this? Hiçbiriniz gördünüz mü böyle bir şeyi?
We haven't seen such a thing. Görmedik.
I swear to God I also haven't seen such a thing. Vallahi ben de görmedim.
Notice I am swearing to God. Ha, yemin ediyorum:
  Vallahi ben de görmedim.
They have not retaliated to the people who have attacked their chastity and honour. Irza tecavüz eder gibi, namusa tecavüz eder gibi davranan kimselere asla mukabele etmediler.
This simple man also worked like a labourer on some of those buildings.
It is not the property of the public; it is the property of the people who have given their hearts to it. Milletin malı değil, orada o işe gönül vermiş insanların malı.
When people lay hands on it. El konduğu zaman.
I can remember the rooms I once stayed in. Benim gözümde tütüyor kaldığım odalar.
I can remember the areas where I sat with my students. Orada talebelerimle meşgul olduğum yerler gözümün önünde tütüyor.
The bones in my nose are tingling though. Burnumun kemikleri sızlıyor ama.
A recommendation from the Qur'an: Kur'ânî tavsiye:
If you are in active patience, it is better for you.
Choose this path, this way. Bu yolu, bu yöntemi seçin, intihap edin.
No matter what, do not compromise from your humanity. Katiyen gerçek insan olma tavır ve davranışlarınızdan fedakârlıkta bulunmayın.
This matter has always occurred throughout history; just as it occurred during the time of Imam Ali, it also occurred during the time of the Umayyads.
Think of Hajjaj: İşte bir Haccâc'ı düşünün:
He killed 70 to 80 thousand people; he killed such noble people from amongst the successors. Yetmiş, seksen bin insan öldürmüş; Tâbiîn'den öyle kimselerin kanına girmiş ki.
For example, when Hajjaj executed Said ibn Jubayr; it was the last straw, Hajjaj as a result of this also died; he shook and shook to his own death.
When he was doing all of this, he was doing it for the sake of the continuation of his position: Bütün bunları yaparken, esasen serkârının saltanatının devamı adına yapmış:
Let the Umayyad state stay like this; for others who don't accept it and don't swear allegiance to it: 'All of these people need to be gotten rid of'. Emevî devleti ayakta kalsın böyle; bunun dışında, onu tam kabul etmeyen, biat etmeyen kimselere gelince, "Bunların hepsinin yok edilmesi lazım."
When he went to Iraq for the first time, to the Persians of Iraq he said: Irak'a -Irak-ı aceme- ilk defa gittiği zaman demiş ki:
'O people of Iraq, the people of discord, hypocrisy and bad morals! "Ey ehl-i Irak, ehl-i şikâk, nifak ve mesâvi-i ahlak.
I see very ripe heads among you; the duty of taking them is upon me', expelling the foulness inside of him directly to their faces.
And continues this persecution for years to come, while putting them under his control. Ve senelerce o mezâlimi yapıyor orada, onları baskı altına almak istiyor.
Yazid also does the same thing, Yazid does it before him. Yezîd de yapıyor aynı şeyi, ondan evvel Yezîd yapıyor.
To what extent does he go? Nereye kadar yapıyor?
To the extent where 30-40 men, unarmed, a group which included the man whose forehead the Prophet kissed, noble Husayn ibn Ali are martyred at Karbala on the banks of a river. Allah Rasûlü'nün (sallallâhu aleyhi ve sellem) alnından öptüğü seyyidinâ Hazreti Hüseyin'i, Kerbelâ'da, Revân nehri kenarında, otuz-kırk insan, silahsız insanla beraber şehit etmeye varıncaya kadar.
These kinds of things occurred at that time as well.
However, neither Hasan, nor Husayn, nor did their father Imam Ali respond to them in like.
As I mentioned earlier about Ali ibn Abi Talib. Hazreti Ali efendimizi biraz evvel arz ettim.
When, 'The Harurites will do this Hani, "Harûrîler şöyle yapacaklar Harura/Haravra'da.
They have prepared for you sir', is said, he replies, 'How do you know they will attack me?'; this is how brave he was.
The noble Hasan also fulfilled something our noble Prophet once predicted: Hazreti Hasan efendimiz de Peygamber Efendimiz'in bir buyruğunu gerçekleştiriyor:
'You know my prestigious grandson. "Benim şu şanlı torunum var ya.
He will, at one stage where there is disorder, with God's permission and grace, stop that disorder form occurring'.
The time of Imam Ali and Muawiyah is, essentially, a time of disorder.
Then later when the noble Hasan is chosen as caliph; he says 'I give up my right; he gives his right to Muawiyah and remains in Medina. Sonradan kendisi halife seçilmiş olan Hazreti Hasan efendimiz; "Ben, hakkımdan vazgeçtim" diyor; hakkını ona veriyor ve kendisi Medine-i Münevvere'de oturuyor.
However the people who have paranoia say, 'Just in case, you never know' and poison him; Fakat her zamanki paranoya yaşayan insanların yaptığı gibi, "Ne olur, ne olmaz" diye onu zehirliyorlar;
they say, 'He let go of his rights today but maybe he will come back later with a group of people' and poison him. "Bugün vazgeçti ama yarın yine bir etraf toplayabilir, bir şey yapabilir" falan diye zehirliyorlar.
The noble Husayn is martyred at Karbala. Hazreti Hüseyin de Kerbelâ'da şehit ediliyor.
He travels with only 40 people but they say, 'just in case, when he goes to Iraq; he might gather people around him and come at us.
The best thing to do—just in case—is to take his head before he attacks us', and they martyr him.
These events that took place in that period were a warning for us; it was a warning for future generations, it was a warning in the pages and paragraphs of the Prophetic biographies: O dönemde cereyan eden o hadiseler, bize bir tenbih idi; arkadan gelenlere, Siyer sayfalarında, paragraflarında bir tenbih idi:
'Be cautious with these. "Dikkat edin bunlara.
As long as mankind continues to maintain its humanity, for it is in its genes, in one way, you can come across identical situations.
When you come across these kinds of things, one must take heed to the advice of our noble Prophet.
This is the way of the Prophets. Bu, peygamber yoludur.
Outsiders are trying to corner you; you should smile at them to soften them.
As I mentioned earlier, look at softening them like the noble Messiah. Biraz evvel arz ettim, Hazreti Mesih gibi davranarak, onu yumuşatmaya bak.
For if one side represents dissension and the other side also represents sedition, then disorder and corruption become amplified and multiplied. Çünkü bir taraf fitneyi temsil ediyorsa, öbür taraf da temsil ederse fitneyi, fitne, muzaaf hale gelir, katlanır.
If this condition continues, it will become muk'ab. Şayet bunda temâdî edilirse, mük'ab hale gelir.
(This reference belongs to Ziya Gökalp; meaning cubic, third power or three-dimensional). -Bu tabir, Ziya Gökalp'a ait; mük'ab, üç buudlu demek.-
It will take the state of a three-dimensional discord and tumult, may God protect us from it. Üç buudlu fitne haline gelir, hafizanallah.
That is to say that people will have distanced themselves not by 10 km from each other but 100. Yani, insanlar birbirlerinden on kilometre değil, yüz kilometre uzaklaşmış olurlar.
And this will lead to a vicious cycle of distancing from each other.
So it will mean that bringing these groups of people together will be impossible.
In order not to give way to this state, one of them must not retaliate to the other; they must show manners befitting their character.
As it had happened on that day, it also took place in latter times, after those periods.
Thus, those we know as Frederick Barbarossa and Richard the Lionheart, took part in great evil actions towards the Muslims of the time and forced their way to Egypt and reached Sudan, yet they returned home in sorrow. Nitekim Barbaros Frederic'ler, Richard'lar -bizim "Arslan Yürekli Richard dediğimiz kimseler- Müslümanlara o kadar kötülük yaparak Mısır'a kadar gittiler, Sudan'a kadar uzandılar; fakat nedâmet içinde geriye döndüler.
When Richard returned back to his homeland he said: Richard, geriye döndükten sonra der ki:
'I learnt humanity from Saladin. "Ben, insanlığı Selâhaddin'den öğrendim.
I learnt humanity from Saladin Ayyubi.' Selâhaddin-i Eyyûbî'den öğrendim insanlığı."
When he was returning to England, he had to face enemies reminiscent of Vlad the Impaler in the Balkans. O, İngiltere'ye dönerken, Balkanlarda Kazıklı Voyvodalar var.
Saladin, sends an envoy with Richard so that they do not harm them. Selâhaddin, onlar zarar vermesinler diye, bir hey'et ile gönderir onu; onlar, ona zarar vermesinler diye.
In fact, when enemy commanders were sick, being a doctor, Saladin himself treats them. Hatta o hasım komutanlar hastalanınca, doktor da olduğundan dolayı, Hazret onları tedavi eder.
Saladin... Selâhaddin.
That is why Mehmet Akif, remembers him alongside Mehmed the Conqueror, in his nightingale poem.
'You have a partner, you have a residence, you have spring so that you would wait "Eşin var, âşiyânın var, baharın var ki beklerdin
What was it to cause unrest, O nightingale, what is your problem? Kıyametler koparmak neydi, ey bülbül, nedir derdin?
You landed on the emerald throne, you established a heavenly reign O zümrüt tahta kondun, bir semâvî saltanat kurdun
Even if the world's countries would be destroyed, your home would not be destroyed.' Cihanın yurdu çiğnense hep, çiğnenmez senin yurdun."
The Nightingale Poem... Bülbül Şiiri.
He says: Onda der ki:
'The abode of Saladin Ayyubi, of Mehmed the Conqueror and those like them.' He places them on level pegging as great conquerors, because Saladin acted humanely. "Selahaddin-i Eyyûbî'lerin, Fatih'lerin yurdu" fatih ile at başı hale getirir; çünkü o, insanca davranmıştır.
Even though those like the Fatimids committed treason against him, they send a female assassin to him, Saladin turns his back on the assassin and says, 'If I have given you discomfort stab me with that knife.' Fatımîler, orada ona ihanet ettikleri halde, Fatımî kadına karşı sırtını döner; "Ben, sizi rahatsız ettiysem, bıçaklayabilirsin beni" der.
And that woman sinks the knife straight into her own chest. Kadın, bıçağı kendi bağrına saplar.
Saladin turns and tries to save her life. Sonra o döner, onu tedavi eder.
This is our character. Bizim karakterimiz, budur.
This the character of a Muslim. Müslümanın karakteri, budur.
This is the character of one who is at one with the noble Prophet. Hazreti Ruh-i Seyyidi'l-Enâm'a bend olmuş insanın karakteri budur.
If you are at one with someone, what falls upon you is to follow that person. Bend olmuş isen, bendegâna düşen şey, Şehsuvar'ına uymasıdır.
We must not stray from the path that the Prophet has walked, we must not depart from that direction, for if one is to stray from this path it can only bring chaos. May God protect us all. O, hangi yolda yürümüşse, nereye doğru gidiyorsa, O'ndan ayrılmamak lazımdır; O'ndan ayrılmak, felaket getirir, hafizanallah.
This is the path of our noble Messenger. Efendimizin yolu.
A believer must always act as a believer, must be mannered like a believer, and must always protect and uphold their dignity and trust in the eyes of the world. Mü'minler, her zaman mü'mince davranacak, mü'mince tavır sergileyecek, dünya çapında, evrensel çapta kendi itibar ve kredilerini koruyacaklardır.
'Yes, there are people who bring about disgust, but there are also people who can bring about utopias. "Haa gerçekten tiksinti uyaran şu insanlar var ama ütopyalara mevzu olabilecek şunlar da var.
Campanella describes a group of people at the forefront of the community in The City of the Sun. Campanella'nın Güneş Devleti'nde anlattığı insanların önünde, onun sisteminin önünde insanlar.
In the system that they build, there are people that provide peace and serenity to the people, just as there are those that provide oxygen.
There are those that will make everyone say, 'Wow, there is also such a movement'. Böyle bir hareket de varmış.
There are people who say, 'Without hands against those who strike you, without speech and hard feelings against those who curse you.' 'Dövene elsiz, sövene dilsiz ve gönülsüz gerek.' diyen insanlar da varmış" dedirteceklerdir.
And so, in order to protect the high esteem and honour of being a Muslim, we must act with our humane characteristics even against the vilest monstrosities committed against us. İşte biz böyle davranmak, Müslümanlığın kendisine has o yüksek itibarını koruma adına, her şeye rağmen, canavarların canavarlığına karşı insanî değerlerimizi korumak mecburiyetindeyiz.
If I have spoken any unpleasant words I apologise, and I pray for forgiveness from God. Nahoş söz söyledimse, sizden özür dilerim; Allah'tan da affetmesini niyaz ederim.
I am human, my imperfections and weaknesses are far superior to myself, I am always vulnerable to making mistakes but all I have tried to do is speak what I believe. İnsanım, eksiğim-gediğim boyumu aşkındır; kusur edebilirim her zaman ama inandığım şeyleri söylemeye çalıştım.
That's all. Vesselâm.
