Is there any risk of participants losing their individuality in the Gülen Movement?

Fethullah Gülen

No, this risk does not arise because individuals themselves construct the multiple social relationships of their everyday life. They can easily adapt themselves to projects for the betterment of the conditions they live in. They can thus build direction and meaning for their existence in relational and professionalized networks and services.

Individuals do not run any risk of losing themselves in the Gülen Movement. They feel that their individual differences are respected. They do not cease to exist as unique and singular individuals but come to appreciate the network connections between people. Their interaction and communication, the basic requirements of social life, are more easily maintained and mediated by networks of belongings. Through these networks, people orient themselves toward living at peace with the Gülen Movement and with the outside, wider public.
