Betraying One's Position

Personal shortcomings should be attributed to personal faults and inability to remain steadfast. Şahsî sarsıntılar, şahsî kusurlara ve istikameti koruyamamaya verilmeli.
'Attribute all good to God and bad to yourself' says Bediüzzaman, paraphrasing a verse from the Qur'an: "İyiliği Allah'tan, kötülüğü kendinden bil" diyor Hazreti Pîr; Kur'an-ı Kerim'in bir ayetinin meali, farklı bir ifade tarzı ile söylenmiş oluyor:
'(O human being!) Whatever good happens to you, it is from God; and whatever evil befalls you, it is from yourself' (An-Nisa, 4:79). "Sana gelen iyilik/güzellik, Allah'tan; fenalık da nefsinden, senin sebebiyet vermendendir" (Nisa, 4:79).
All good that happens to you comes from God and all that is negative is from you.
As this is true on an individual level, it is true at a community level as well and with the Hizmet Movement.
If there is a problem people should question themselves.
If they think otherwise then they will not be triggering the urges for repentance and turning to God in contrition; they will make no progress. Kendilerinden bilmezler ise şayet, mesele onlardaki "tevbe", "istiğfar", "inâbe", "evbe" duygusunu tetiklemez; dolayısıyla da oldukları yerde kalırlar, tepinir dururlar.
But God rewards and punishes people according to their spiritual level.
A community that was charged to carry out important tasks will be rewarded or punished accordingly.
You can link this to the concept that 'Some things that are seen as good deeds for people of faith can be considered a sin for those near to God' Bunu, "Ebrâr adına iyilik kabul edilen şeyler, daha ileri seviyede bulunan mukarrabîn için günah sayılabilir" sözüyle irtibatlandırabilirsiniz.
'People of faith' are those who only consider doing good and only act to do good. "Ebrâr" dediğimiz insanlar, "evliyâ"nın da üstünde; evliyâ, asfiyâ, ebrâr, üçüncü derecede; bütün işleri-güçleri hep iyilik, iyilikten başka bir şey düşünmüyorlar.
But some of the good that they do can be considered a sin for those that are the closest to God.
It is possible to make an analogy.
There are some sins committed in action; by walking, reaching for, looking at or speaking in a prohibited way.
These are the sins of ordinary people. Bu, bir günahtır; bu, avamın günahıdır.
There are some however, that imagine acting in a prohibited way but don't commit the sin in action; for them this is a sin as well and if they turn back they will be rewarded.
They will plan enacting a wrong deed: O meseleyi akılları ile planlarlar:
For instance one might say, 'Let me tour Manhattan so that my eyes and heart can take some pleasure.' "Şunu yapayım, mesela şu Manhattan'da bir tur atayım, az bir gözüm-gönlüm açılsın."
Just then someone would come on his way and say, 'Come, let's have a cup of tea together', and prevent him from engaging in sinful things.
There are some that would 'think' about these things rather than putting them in motion; these are temporary thoughts. Bazıları vardır ki, meseleyi "aklî" planda götürmeden, sadece "tasavvur" ederler; gelip-geçici tasavvurlardır, düşüncelerdir bunlar.
But still, these are 'mistakes' for people who attained a certain spiritual level.
There are also those who are nearest to God Almighty, who are very vigilant not only about what they think of, but even about what they dream.
If you analyse the Chapters of the Qur'an and the prayers that the Pride of Humanity recited before he went to bed. Yatağa girmeden evvel, İnsanlığın İftihar Tablosu'nun (sallallâhu aleyhi ve sellem) okuduğu sûrelere, okuduğu dualara dikkat ederseniz.
Such things are not in question when it comes to him; but his actions are rather guidance to his community. Kendisi için o türlü şeyler söz konusu değildir; "rehber" olması itibarıyla arkasındakilerine derstir esasen.
But when you analyse his noble life, you see his heart trembling with fear of God. Ama hayat-ı seniyyelerine bakınca, kalbi tir tir titrer.
Prophet Moses's heart also trembled. Hazreti Musa'nın kalbi, tir tir titrer.
Prophet Jesus's heart also trembled. Hazreti İsa'nın kalbi, tir tir titrer.
Why? Neden?
What you 'imagine' or what comes to your 'thoughts' are considered sins for them. Sizin "tasavvur" ettiğiniz şeyler, onlar için günahtır, "tahayyül" ettiğiniz şeyler, onlar için günahtır.
One who is close to God should not even muddle one's thoughts to such a minute extent.
One should keep pure thoughts. Hep temiz düşünmeli.
God should constantly occupy one's thoughts. Hep O'nun ile oturup-kalkmalı.
One should always desire reunion with Him. Hep O'na ulaşma, O'na kavuşma, vuslat arzusu ile oturup-kalkmalı.
One should regard death as a union with God, the most Beloved. Bir "Şeb-i Arûs" beklentisi içinde olmalı:
'When will I meet Him, I wonder?' "Acaba ne zaman O'na ulaşacağım."
All worldly pleasures, yearning, joy and fun should vanish when God occupies one's thoughts, and nothing should be preferred over Him. Bütün dünyevî zevkler, safalar, keyifler, eğlenceler, O düşünüldüğü zaman, unutulacak hâle gelmeli ve hiçbir şey O'na tercih edilmemeli.
Let me add this as a side note: Burada antrparantez rica edeyim:
For people like us who 'appear to be' the people of the Hereafter. Ehl-i âhiret gibi görünen bizler.
Forget those who are the people of this world, who worship the world; who can never have enough of one and ask for a second car when he has one, and ask for a third one when he has two, ask for ten, twenty, thirty of them. Bırakın ehl-i dünyayı, dünyaya tapanları; bir araba ile yetinmeyip iki tane, iki tane ile yetinmeyip üç tane, üç tane ile yetinmeyip on tane, on tane ile yetinmeyip yirmi tane, otuz tane.
They are the ones who worship this world, those unfortunate, wretched ones. Bunlar, dünyaya tapan talihsiz bedbahtlar.
Seeing them, even Satan would be overjoyed and say; 'These people have outperformed me in worshipping the world; they have taken the lead in this matter.' Şeytan bile zil takıp oynuyordur onlar için; "Bunlar, işin doğrusu bu mevzuda beni geçti, ipi göğüslediler.
They say, 'In the realm of Satan, they should be awarded with a Nobel Prize.' Şeytanlar âleminden bunlara Nobel Ödülü vermek lazım" diyordur.
But when it comes to those who have devoted themselves to the service of the Qur'an. Fakat kendini tamamen Kur'an'a hizmete vermiş, adamış insanlara gelince.
We say, 'devoted' and it means: Bu mevzuda "adanmışlık" diyoruz:
My cause is exalting the Word of God. Benim derdim/davam tamamen İ'lâ-i Kelimetullah mülahazasına sahip bulunma.
You know, we say, 'My Lord. Hani, "Allah'ım.
Allow for the proliferation of the ultimate Word of God and the Word of Truth 'There is no deity but God and Muhammad is the Messenger of God', make it visible in all areas of life, just like a rainbow.
May You allow us to be committed to this cause.' Bizi bu vazifede istihdam buyur" diyoruz.
My God. Allah'ım.
Allow me to be committed to this cause. Bu konuda beni de istihdam buyur.
Please kindle love and acceptance for us in the hearts of your servants in the heavens and earth. "Gökte ve yerdeki kulların arasında bizim için sevgi ve hüsnükabul vaz' et."
Grant me love in the heavens and the earth. Yerde-Gökte benim için, bütün dünyalarda benim için 'vüdd' vaz' et.
Allow me to be committed to this cause. Bu hususta beni de istihdam buyur.
Let me exalt the Word of God, and have no other concern. İ'lâ-i Kelimetullah yapayım, başka hiçbir derdim olmasın.
I may forget my way home, forget the face of my child, forget the face of my wife, but do not let me forget You. Evimin yolunu unutayım, çocuğumun çehresini unutayım, eşimin çehresini unutayım ama Seni hiç unutmayayım.
This is an attribute of a devoted soul. Adanmış bir ruhun vasfı, bu.
If someone is not doing justice to the position God has placed them in, they will receive a slap accordingly.
Because being in that position is a favour from God, and that favour requires a response. Çünkü o duruma getirme mevzuu, Cenâb-ı Hakk'ın bir iltifatıdır; o iltifat, bir karşılık ister.
If God has provided you with so many favours, they require a response in return.
The great Prophets have counted small things as bad deeds, if they did something like this with their hands, they would say, 'How could I do such a thing.' Enbiyâ-i ızâm, seviyelerine göre çok küçük şeyleri mâsiyet saymışlardır; birine eliyle böyle yapsa, "Ben nasıl böyle yaparım" demişlerdir.
If they did not hit someone but moved their arm as if to hit, they regarded this as a transgression, they would bow their heads and say, 'I ask forgiveness from God.'
Forget that, they worried and panicked over things that may have entered their imagination.
Because they are fully devoted; in absolute innocence and absolute purity. Çünkü tamamen adanmışlardır onlar; masumiyet-i mutlaka içinde, ismet-i mutlaka içindedirler.
This is unreachable; it is a state specific to them. O noktaya ulaşılamaz; o, onlara mahsus bir keyfiyet.
But those who devote themselves with their own will will say, 'This is my cause: Ama iradî olarak kendilerini adayanlar, adanmış görenler, "Benim derdim/davam:
Striving to allow for the high spirit of Muhammad to take wing; for the Majestic Name to be raised like a flag across all four corners of the globe. Dünyanın dört bir yanında ruh-u revân-ı Muhammedî şehbal açsın; nâm-ı celîl-i İlahi, bayrak gibi dalgalansın.
I cannot think about anything else. Bundan başka bir şey düşünmüyorum ben.
How many counties are there in the world? Dünyanın kaç tane ülkesi var?
Trying to be everywhere, breathing God and the Prophet, in a way; trying to enter hearts with those breaths. Her yere girme, her yerde -bir yönüyle- Allah'ı soluklama, Peygamberi soluklama; o nefeslerimle, soluklarımla gönüllere girmeye çalışma" diyenler.
If someone who has devoted themselves to this task does not place it before everything, does not give prominence to it like other tasks across the 24 hours of a day, they are betraying their position, and they are 'position betrayers'.
I repeat: someone who has been given a role, and has failed to give the position its due, they are 'position betrayers.'
Thus, they may recipe a Divine admonition. Dolayısıyla Allah, tokat vurur.
As a side note: Antrparantez:
Personally, this is how I look at the matter. Ben, şahsım adına meseleye öyle bakıyorum.
Half of my day is spent punishing myself. Günümün yarısı, kendimi tokatlamak ile geçiyor.
I never had a home and assets in my name.
I was not present when my mother passed away; I was not present when my father passed away; I was not present when my siblings passed away. Annem ölürken yanında değildim; babam ölürken yanında değildim; kardeşlerim ölürken de yanlarında değildim.
Perhaps, I did not think about them too much. Belki onları çok düşünmedim de.
Perhaps, my father cried sending me off. Babam, belki ağlayarak beni gideceğim yere saldı.
I pushed my uncle away, I declared; 'If there is a fire with my religion burning in it, I do not understand your worldly offerings; I doubt your faith.' Amcamı, elimin tersiyle ittim; "Karşıda bir yangın varken ve içinde benim dinim yanıyorken, sizin bana dünya adına bir şey teklifinizi anlamıyorum; dininizden şüphe ediyorum."
Such a thing. Öyle; öyle bir şey.
Regarding myself as a 'donkey', being unworthy of the position the Almighty God provided, I consider myself betraying my position; a position betrayer. Ama yine kendimi bir "eşek" yerine koyarak, Cenâb-ı Hakk'ın getirdiği konumun hakkını vermediğimden, kendimi konum hâini sayıyorum; konum hâini.
Whatever position we are elevated to by God, if our attitude is not determined accordingly, there is the possibility of becoming a position betrayer.
Let me repeat: Hani tekrar edeyim:
Disposition, manner and behaviour. Hal, tavır ve davranış.
Our noble Prophet this in the following Prophetic saying: Efendimiz, hadis-i şerifte ifade ediyor:
'If the eye glances, the foot will take a step forward, the hand will reach and the rest will follow.' "Göz bakarsa, adım atılır, el uzatılır, arkası gelir onun."
At another time, he recites a positive version of the matter: Başka bir yerde, meselenin pozitifini anlatıyor:
'If the eye is closed, if the heart is kept clean, this time they will have infallible foresight.' "Gözünü kapatırsa, bu mevzuda kalbini şöyle temiz tutarsa, şunu da şöyle yaparsa, bu defa firâsetinde hiç yanılmaz o" diyor.
This is the positive and that is the negative. Pozitifi, bu; negatifi de o.
If you approach something sinful with your eyes, this is a calling to your steps, a calling to reaching out with your hands, a calling to realise this action, May God protect us from it.
Every single sin opens a wound in the heart; If it is not erased through repentance immediately, God forbid, it may lead to another sin.
This time the heart will be polluted; it will close in the face of the angels and open to Satan like the doors of a castle.
As Imam Ghazali mentions in his Revival, we must thus do justice to our existing position. Hazreti Gazzâlî de ifade ediyor, İhyâ'sında ifade ediyor bunları; bu açıdan, konumun hakkını vermek lazım.
Look; I believe that in many parts of the world—I am not too curious how many, perhaps tens of places—there have been people completing PhD's on the Hizmet Movement. Bakın; zannediyorum dünyanın değişik yerlerinde -ben çok merak etmiyorum, belki onlarca yerde- Hizmet Hareketi ile alakalı doktora tezleri yapıldı.
They raise it to the skies. Göklere çıkardılar.
Hizmet is mentioned with appreciation. Hizmet, her yerde takdirler ile yâd ediliyor.
The people place you at a certain position. They place the Movement at a certain position. Millet, sizi bir yerde konumlandırıyor, Hareketi/Hizmeti bir yerde konumlandırıyor.
This is your situation and character. Sizin durumunuz/tavrınız, bu.
This is what the people expect from you in the name of humanity. İnsanlığın geleceği adına milletin sizden beklediği şeyler bunlar.
If there is such a position as of now, one must do it justice.
Otherwise, like the worldly people, as I mentioned earlier, after one villa you will ask for another, and another and another.
Applause fit for a city mayor, applause fit for a member of parliament, fit for a prime minister, fit for a president. Bir belediye başkanlığı ölçüsünde alkış, milletvekilliği ölçüsünde alkış, başbakanlık ölçüsünde alkış, cumhurbaşkanlığı ölçüsünde alkış.
A world-adoration which has no limits, indeed it is a worshipping of the world. Doyma bilmeyen bir dünyaperestlik, esasen dünyaya taparlık.
Even if he prays, he is indeed worshipping this world. Namaz kılsa bile, o, dünyaya tapıyor.
And if a herd of people are being dragged behind them they are wasting their entire afterlife.
And then to say, 'If you elect so and so, your acquittal in the afterlife will be prepared.
The angels will say, 'Please, come, Paradise awaits you.' This is what they say, God forbid. Melekler, 'Aman buyurun, Cennet sizi bekliyordu' der" gibi şeyler söylüyorlar, hafizanallah.
The greatest of people, the Prophets worried, 'Can I enter Paradise?' and lived with concern on this matter. En büyük insanlar, Peygamberler bile "Cennet'e girebilir miyim ben?" diye, onun endişesini yaşamışlardır.
Of those people who lived as the Prophet did, Al-Aswad ibn Yazid an-Nakhai, whom I have mentioned perhaps twenty, maybe thirty times says: Peygamber gibi yaşayanlardan Esved İbn Yezîd en-Nehâî'yi belki yirmi defa, otuz defa arz etmişimdir:
The Nakhai's family, Abu Hanifa was also raised in this family.
A family from the 'successors of the Prophet'; a family where knowledge bubbled and boiled. O, Tâbiîn'den; ilmin, fokur fokur kaynağı bir ailedir.
It is a home of spiritual knowledge, and four of these family members are at an apex, Aswad is the head of them. Bütünüyle irfan ocağıdır; hele dört tanesi zirvedir bunların; Esved, onların başında gelir.
When he is passing away, Alqama comes near him; his cousin, from the same family. Vefat ederken, Alkame, yanına geliyor; aynı aileden, kuzeni.
Aswad is in constant pain and agony; he is passing out, and shaking tremendously. Esved, sürekli ızdırap içinde, kendinden geçiyor; yüzde takallüsler, tir tir titriyor:
Alqama asks, 'What is that? Do you fear of your wrongdoings?' "Ne o?" diyor, "Kardeşim, günahlarından mı endişe ediyorsun?"
What wrongdoings? Ne günahı?
Sinning wasn't even welcome as a guest in their dreams. Günah, onların rüyalarına bile misafir olmamıştır.
Aswad laughs in pain, saying, 'What sin? 'I am afraid of dying as an unbeliever'. Gülüyor, acı acı gülüyor; "Ne günahı?" diyor, "Kâfir olarak ölmekten korkuyorum."
As a side note, I'll ask: Ben burada bir noktalı virgül koyarak sorayım:
For God's sake. Allah aşkına.
I leave the matter to your conscience. Sizin vicdanlarınıza meseleyi havale ediyorum.
How many people are there here, that are concerned about this matter; 'that fear of passing away as an unbeliever', raise your hand?
Forget the worldly people; it is clear where they will end up. Bırakın ehl-i dünyayı; onların nereye yuvarlandığı belli.
Where they will go with those cars, their houses, the praise they get, where they will end up by oppressing the community. O arabalar ile nereye gidileceği, o villalar ile nereye gidileceği, o alkışlar ile nereye gidileceği, o millete zulüm yapmakla nereye gidileceği bellidir.
In a way, others' make it seem that by granting someone a passport or a visa that they're going into Paradise; this is the exact definition of hypocrisy; of disbelief. Elin-âlemin dışarıda onlara -bir yönüyle- birer pasaport vermeleri, birer vize vermeleri, Cennet'e giriyor gibi göstermeleri; bu, riyakârlığın tâ kendisidir, küfrün tâ kendisidir.
Forget them. Bırakın onları.
They are finished. Onların işi bitmiş.
The Ultimate Truth and Ever-Constant God has placed you in an important position.
I am repeating: Tekrar ediyorum:
Do you honour your position, do you give it it's due right? Konumun hakkı veriliyor mu acaba?
If this is the path of the Prophets, you must give it its due. Peygamberler yolunda yürünüyor ise şayet, o yolun hakkının verilmesi lazım.
When you blink: Gözünü açıp kapayacaksın:
'My Lord, "Allah'ım.
You see me at this very moment; allow me to live as though I can see you.'
What you say and do should be entirely based on this. Bütün dediğin-ettiğin şey, bu olmalı.
'O God, with an ardent longing of meeting with you. "Allah'ım, aşk u iştiyak-ı likâullah.
O God, with an ardent longing of meeting with you. Allah'ım, aşk u iştiyâk-ı likâullah.
God, allow me such a state of affection that I don't forget my friends.'
Since, in a way, on the other side, you will be grouped together with your friends. Çünkü nasıl olsa -bir yönüyle- öbür tarafa gittiğin zaman, kardeşlerin, yanında kümelenecekler.
Since you are a traveller on this journey, since you're in the profession of 'self-devotion', God has given you a place and role.
My apology, I repeat: Özür dilerim, tekrar ediyorum:
I must make the best of that role and place. Konumun hakkını vermek lazım.
If you do not give your role its due, you will be betraying it. Konumun hakkı verilmez ise, konum hâinliği olur.
The angels will declare them 'traitors' in the skies, May God protect us from it. Onu yapanın adına melekler, semada "hâin" derler; ona, "Hâin" derler, hafizanallah.
Let us return: Geriye dönelim:
The slightest of shortfalls, we must suspect from ourselves; and the blessings that Almighty God has showered unto us we must attribute to his Divine Mercy. En küçük bir musibeti, kendimizden bilmeliyiz; Cenâb-ı Hakk'ın sağanak sağanak başımızdan aşağıya yağdırdığı iyilikleri de O'nun rahmetinin vüs'atine vermeliyiz.
Realising that out of his compassion He has not forsaken and destroyed us we say, 'By God, Bizi, yerin dibine batırmamasını yine rahmetinin vüs'atine vererek, "Allah Allah.
Despite the status He bestowed us, we did not properly make use of it'. O, bizi bu konuma getirdiği halde hakkını veremedik" demeliyiz.
If you spent 24 hours facing down in prostration, thinking of Him constantly, nothing but Him. Yirmi dört saat yüzün yerde, sürekli hep O'nu düşünüyorsun, hep O'nu.
And you recite a prayer and truly you shake vehemently, from head to toe.
Then a thought crosses your mind, 'This was a perfect example of servanthood'.
If you do not end by declaring, 'O who is all deserving of worship, we could not worship You properly' May God protect us from it, you committed an impudence right there. Hafizanallah, burada yine bir küstahlık yaptın, "Ey ibadete layık yegâne Ma'bud, Sana hakkıyla ibadet edemedik" kafiyesi ile meseleyi kafiyelendirmiyorsan.
If you cannot end your supplication with: 'O the One Who is always mentioned with praise and gratitude, we have not been able to show You the gratitude You deserve and bow in Your presence.' "Ey herkes tarafından hamd u sena ile yâd edilen Mabud-u Mutlak, Sana hakkıyla hamd edemedik" kafiyesi ile kafiyelendirmiyorsan.
Or: 'O the One Who is mentioned in gratitude by all tongues, we could not thank You as need be.' "Ey her dilde meşkûr olan Rabbimiz, Sana gereğince şükredemedik" kafiyesi ile kafiyelendirmiyorsan.
'I could not give thanks to you in full.' "Sana hakkıyla şükredemedim."
This is a condition of the soul Bir hal.
This is what is required of your place. Çünkü konumun gereği bunlar.
We live in a period where, on one side, there are things our status and place dictates, and on the other, conditions of the worldly people, those who worship the world, those who make the world a statue to worship, those who purposefully prefer this world over the Hereafter, those who ignore Paradise, those who know nothing of the Divine Countenance, those who do not think of sharing the same table with our Prophet peace and blessings be upon him. Öyle bir dönemde yaşıyoruz ki; bir taraftan konumun bizden istediği şeyler, bir diğer taraftan da ehl-i dünyanın, dünyaya tapanların, dünyaperestlerin, dünyayı put haline getirenlerin, bilerek dünya hayatını ahiret hayatına tercih edenlerin, Cennet'i görmezlikten gelenlerin, köşkleri görmezlikten gelenlerin, Cemâlullah'ı hiç hatırlamayanların, Peygamberimiz ile aynı sofraya (sallallâhu aleyhi ve sellem) oturmayı hiç düşünmeyenlerin halleri.
Forget them. Bırakın onları.
They are walking on that path, they are acting by the impulses of Satan, let them be.
However, if you have dedicated yourself to the quest to promote and disseminate the Word of God. Fakat siz, İ'lâ-i Kelimetullah'a kendinizi adamış iseniz.
'If you say let the name of the Prophet bloom across all four sides of the world' "Dünyanın dört bir yanında Ruh-u Revân-i Muhammedî şehbal açsın" diyorsanız.
'Let the flag of the Majestic Name of God flutter everywhere. "Nâm-ı celîl-i İlahî, bir bayrak gibi her yerde dalgalansın.
If you desire for the Name 'God, God, God' to be recited everywhere; if you are dedicated to this vision, you have shown this at least from your actions and state until now, if those who look at your state and representation can say, 'We can walk together with these people', then God Almighty has brought you to such a status, an important place on the path of the Prophets.
This is worth more than a thousand prime ministerships. Bu, bin tane başbakanlığa değiştirilmez.
I would not exchange this for a thousand presidencies. Bin tane cumhurbaşkanlığına değiştirmem ben.
I would not exchange this kind of emotional state, this kind of self-sacrifice with any worldly rank.
A believer is the representative of security and trust in the world, if a believer acts accordingly, he will make others love God, the Prophet and make them travellers of this journey.
How many people have joined you? Kaç tane insan, sizin yanınıza geldi.
How many people's hearts have been conquered by your disposition and manners, actions and behaviour? Hâl, tavır ve davranışıyla, onların ruhuna girmiş, gönüllerine otağını kurmuş arkadaşların o mevzudaki temsilleri vesilesiyle.
I would not want to say that your disposition and behaviour is perfect.
Even this much was sufficient to affect them to the extent. O kadarı bile onlara öyle müessir olmuş ki.
When they come near you, they say: Geldiğinde sizin yanınıza, diyor ki:
'I believe in the Messenger of God'. "Ben, Allah Rasûlü'nün peygamber olduğuna inanıyorum.
'There is no deity but God, and Muhammad is the Messenger of God'. "La ilahe illallah. Muhammedu'r-Resulullah."
I have witnessed this so many times here. Others saying, 'We can walk on a journey with you'. Kaç tanesine şâhit oldum burada, "Sizin ile yol alınır.
We can traverse mountains with you. Sizin ile tepeler geçilir.
We could traverse treacherous together.' Sizin ile kandan-irinden deryalar aşılır" diyenlerin.
If this kind of influence was made with only these manners and disposition, imagine with God's permission, if there was true and deep representation?
Like our noble Prophet. Efendimiz gibi.
Or the shadow of his shadow, the path of Abu Bakr, Umar, Uthman, Ali, Hasan, Husayn, may God be pleased with them. O'nun gölgesi, gölgesinin gölgesi, Ebu Bekir'in yolu, Ömer'in yolu, Osman'ın yolu, Ali'nin yolu, Hasan'ın yolu, Hüseyin'in yolu, radıyallâhu anhüm milyon merratin.
This was not enough right? Az oldu değil mi?
May God be pleased with them a quadrillion times. Radıyallâhu anhüm katrilyon merratin.
No, even this is not sufficient. Hayır, az oldu.
May God be pleased with them as many as the number of particles in the universe. Zerrât-ı kâinat adedince Allah razı olsun onlardan.
Yes this is their road, the road is theirs. Evet, onların yolu; yol, onların yolu.
If we follow an Islam which we have already identified for ourselves and if we say, 'This is sufficient for me'.
Whereas; what we need to say is: Oysaki dememiz gerekli olan:
My Lord. "Allah'ım.
The perfect faith. İman-ı ekmel.
Look, I say 'perfect'. -Bakın, "ek-mel" diyorum.-
My Lord. Allah'ım.
The perfect Islam. İslam-ı ekmel.
Faith in its perfect sense. En kâmil manada iman.
Islam in its perfect sense. En kâmil manada İslam.
Sincerity in its perfect sense. En kâmil manada ihlas.
Benevolence in its perfect sense. En kâmil manada ihsan.
Certainty in its perfect sense. En kâmil manada yakîn.
Loyalty in its perfect sense. En kâmil manada sadâkat.
Steadfastness in its perfect sense. En kâmil manada istikamet.
Reliance upon God in its perfect sense. En kâmil manada tevekkül.
Surrender to God's will in its perfect sense. En kâmil manada teslim.
Commitment in its perfect sense. En kâmil manada tefvîz.
Trust in God in its perfect sense. En kâmil manada sika.
The soul at rest, the soul that is content, the soul that is pleased, the soul that is purified, the soul that is exonerated, in their perfect forms. En kâmil manada nefs-i mutmainne, râdıye, mardıyye, sâfiye, zâkiye."
Their objectives are lofty. Göz, hep bunlarda, bu yüce ufuklarda.
If one is so preoccupied with these lofty ideals, I believe, one won't be so interested in other things outside of these. İnsan, böyle âlî şeylere, yüksek gâye-i hayale kilitlenir ise, zannediyorum, bunun dışında kalan şeylere evvelen ve bizzat fazla değer atfetmez.
In fact, one of our friends had said so: Hatta arkadaşlarınızdan birisi demişti:
God Almighty, in the Qur'an, talks about Paradise, the partners of Paradise, the mansions and rivers. Zât-ı Ulûhiyet, Kur'an-ı Kerim'inde Cennet, Huri, Gılman, köşkler ve ırmaklardan bahsediyor.
If one thinks in their mind, 'What even are these things when compared to God's approval of me?'
'Or when compared to the Prophet saying, "And he was one of mine"' Efendimiz'in 'Bu da Bendendi.' falan demesi yanında?.
'Or Abu Bakr saying, "She was one of us."'
Would this be disrespectful towards God's blessings and courtesy in the Qur'an?
I asked this question to Islamic scholars; I could not get a definite answer. Bunu sordum İlahiyatçılara, cevab-ı savab alamadım.
But I did not get a negative answer either.
'No, that thought is inappropriate and wrong' "Hayır, doğru değil bu düşündüğün."
I did not get this answer. O cevabı da alamadım.
'Yes, that is an appropriate thought'. "Evet, isabetlidir bu."
I did not get this answer. O cevabı da alamadım.
I think many are so focused on this that they cannot think about anything else. Zannediyorum, çokları hakikaten o meseleye kilitlenmişler; O'ndan başka bir şey düşünmüyorlar, düşünmüyorlar, düşünmüyorlar.
Perhaps we need to say something in response to this in the words the Imam of Alvar: Şimdi burada Alvar İmamı'nın sözüyle belki bir şey demek icap ediyor, onun dediği şeyi demek gerekiyor:
'May God make us human'. "Allah bizi insan eyleye."
He would say it often, and from the heart. Böyle içinden gele gele derdi sık sık:
'May God make us human', he meant it in respect of his status, and he was doing justice to his status. "Allah bizi insan eyleye" demek, konumuna göre diyordu; konumunun hakkını veriyordu.
Because when the Majestic Name of God was mentioned near him, his face would change colour, his wrinkles would change position, everything in his face up to the irises in his eyes would change, he would shed tears emphatically. Zira nâm-ı celîl-i İlahî yâd edilince, birden bire rengi değişirdi, yüzünün çizgileri değişirdi, gözünün irisine kadar her şey değişirdi, şakır şakır gözyaşları dökerdi.
I have relayed to you one of his stories: Bir menkıbesini arz etmişimdir, vakıa:
A man returned from Medina, from the pilgrimage. Birisi Medine'den gelmiş, Hac'dan dönmüş.
They call him a efe (a gallant man). "Efe" diyorlar.
In those day, they called great men efe. Efe; o dönemde, o büyük insanlara "Efe" deniyor.
'Medina is such a beautiful place, it is captivating'. "Medine öyle güzel bir yer ki, hakikaten insan bayılır oraya.
But there were some dogs on the streets' he said. Fakat bir kısım bakımsız uyuz köpekler vardı" diyor.
The Imam quickly said, 'Be quiet', 'I will sacrifice my soul for even the stray dog of Medina.' O hemen "Sus" diyor, "Ben, Medine'nin uyuzlu köpeğine de kurban olayım."
Can you understand the connection to the Noble Messenger? Anlıyor musunuz Rasûlullah'a bağlılığı?
He says, 'May God allow us to become human' from this perspective.
He says 'May God allow us to become human' from this level. "Allah bizi Müslüman eyleye" diyor; o ölçüde, o seviyede.
God Almighty will not let one fall astray if one strives to reach such lofty goals. İnsan, o kadar âlî şeylere dilbeste olursa, Cenâb-ı Hak, onu yüzüstü bırakmaz.
'Open your hands, always pour out your inner soul to Him, "Aç ellerini, içini O'na dök her zaman,
Quit pouring out your worries to non-friends, seek from Him, Kes ağyâra dil dökmeyi, O'ndan dile emân,
One who laughs with heedlessness cannot reach security, Eremez emâna gaflet ile gülen, oynayan,
The Qur'an wants this with 'Laugh so little, but cry so very, very, very much'. "Ve'l-yebkû kesîren"le bunu istiyor Kur'an."
'So let them laugh little and weep much' (At-Tawbah, 9:82). (Son mısrada "Yaptıklarının cezası olarak, bundan böyle az gülsünler, çok ağlasınlar" (Tevbe, 9:82). ayetine işaret ediliyor.)
God's Messenger states: Allah Rasûlü şöyle buyuruyor:
'Do not laugh and seek enjoyments, for laughing aplenty kills the heart.' "Çok gülüp eğlenmeyin; şüphesiz çok gülmek kalbi öldürür."
Our Akif, who lived in an age of calamity, even though today's world would make him wish those days remained, in that age of calamity he said: Akif'imiz de, felaketli günlerin yaşandığı bir dönemde -ki, şimdiki günler ona bin defa rahmet okutturur; Akif'in yaşadığı felaketli günler ki, şimdiki zaman, ona bin defa rahmet okutturur- şunu söylüyor:
'It is our honour that is being stomped on, our chastity that is being carved, "Irzımızdır çiğnenen, namusumuzdur doğranan,
O You shameless one! Ey sıkılmaz.
Even if you do not cry, feel ashamed to laugh at least! Ağlamazsın, bari gülmekten utan."
It hurts me so much. Öyle ağırıma gidiyor ki.
Seeing lips stretch to smile, it hurts me so much. Dudakların geriye gitmesi, öyle ağırıma gidiyor.
To see the religion being stomped on under foot. Dinin ayaklar altında çiğnenmesi.
Actions and behaviour not befitting a believer, acting as if they are representing Muslims.
The distortion of religion, to show religion in a different way. Dinin tahrif edilmesi, dinin farklı gösterilmesi.
For Paradise to be sold for such cheap ideals. Cennet'in çok ucuza peylenmesi.
For people to be deceived in the name of Paradise. Cennet adına insanların kandırılması.
It hurts me so much. Öyle ağırıma gidiyor ki benim.
May God protect us from it; the Islamic world has not seen such low, base and evil ignominy. Hafizanallah, İslam dünyası, böylesine bir şenâat, böylesine bir denâet, böylesine bir aşağılık, böylesine bir kompleks yaşamamıştır.
You showed a point of difference until a certain stage, with God's leave.
But just as how when one step taken towards doing evil is a call, an invitation for the second step; a step taken towards doing good, two steps, three steps, four, five ten steps is also a call.
Ten steps taken is a call for another ten steps to be taken, it is an invitation. Atılan on adım, diğer on adımın atılması için de bir çağrıdır, bir davetiyedir.
God has granted you with an important rank. Allah, sizi önemli bir konum ile konumlandırdı.
Now, what you have been subjected to, is a requirement of the path of the Prophets. Şimdi maruz kaldığınız şeyler, peygamberler yolunun gereği.
There is not one honourable person who has not suffered. Hiç eziyet çekmeyen büyük insan, yoktur; hiç.
If the suffering of Abu Bakr, Umar, Uthman and Ali were to be placed on the shoulders of mountains, in the words of the Imam of Alvar, those mountains would crumble to pieces. Hazreti Ebu Bekir'in çektiği, Ömer'in çektiği, Osman'ın çektiği, Ali'nin çektiği dağların başına dökülseydi, Alvar İmamı ifadesiyle, dağlar tuz-buz olurdu.
These are the requirements of this path. O yolun gereği, bu.
First: Bir:
You should say, 'All praise be to God': "Elhamdülillah" demelisiniz.
In the words of the Honourable Sage Bediüzzaman—I'm not sure if any other person has said this—:'Praise and thanks for everything, other than the states of disbelief and misguidance.' Yine Hazreti Pîr'in ifadesiyle -başka biri demiş midir, bunu bilmiyorum- "Küfür ve dalalet ahvâlinin dışında, her şeye hamdolsun."
In exchange of certain accomplishments I say, 'Millions of praises and glorifications to God for every state other than disbelief or misguidance'. Kıtmîr, bu belli ölçüdeki mazhariyetler karşısında başa gelen şeylere mukabil, "Bir milyon defa Allah'a hamd u senâ olsun, küfür ve dalaletin dışında her şeyden ötürü" diyorum.
The Almighty God, in the requirements of this high rank on the path of the Prophets, will shower down calamities from head to toe. Cenâb-ı Hak, böyle bir konumlandırmanın gereği, bu peygamberler yolunda, başınızdan aşağı belayı sağanak sağanak yağdıracaktır.
He will cleanse you with these and every challenge will make one worthy of Paradise. Sizi arındıracaktır bunlar ile, Cennet'e ehil hale getirecektir.
In one way, calamities are blessings in disguise. It will help rid negativity and replace it with positivity and in turn prepare a person for the delights of the Hereafter.
In other words, the good actions you carry out and the hardships you endure are in essence made to be the building blocks of the Hereafter. Tâbir-i diğerle, burada yaptığınız güzel şeyler ve katlandığınız -böyle- ağır şeyler, sizin öbür âleme göre yapılanmanız adına -esasen- yapı taşları mahiyetindedir.
It is not like a physical existence within this world, like atoms, electrons, neutrons or molecules.
You will be shaped for the Hereafter based on your actions in this world; because you will be attaining eternal existence.
Does He not say: Buyurmuyor mu:
'The limbs of those who make ablution will be bright with streaks of light.' "Abdest aldığınız uzuvlar, pırıl pırıl nur saçacak."
Just like the hand of Prophet Moses, when he took out his radiant hand from his chest. Seyyidinâ Hazreti Musa'nın eli gibi, koynundan çıkardığı zaman.
Your foreheads will be shining as bright as the sun due to the marks from prostration. Alınlarınız secde izinden dolayı âdetâ güneş gibi pırıl pırıl parlayacak.
And you all will be as though you are observing the Luminous Moon—in one way this is an allegorical way of carrying out this observation—as though you are witnessing a perfect full moon, you will observe and reflect on the Source of all this Beauty. Ve siz, kamer-i münîri temâşa ediyor gibi -bu, bir yönüyle, herkesin rahat temâşâsını ifade etme adına müteşâbih bir ifade- ayın on dördünü temâşâ ediyor gibi müzâhamesiz temâşâ edeceksiniz Bütün Güzelliklerin Kaynağı'nı.
The Almighty God has given you a rank; I think this is a very important Divine favour.
In a way, He has treated you with kindness. Size -bir yönüyle- bir iyilikte bulunmuş.
In a way, you must make the best of that status and position. Bir taraftan o konumun hakkını vermek lazım.
It is possible that we are being given these warnings, being told, 'Make the most of what you have!', because we haven't been doing so. İhtimal, onun hakkını tam veremediğimizden dolayı, "Hakkını verin" diye hafif kulak çekti.
Just as the Honourable Sage Bediüzzaman expresses in a chapter about 'The Blows Dealt by Divine Compassion' in The Gleams, these warnings come as light slaps to the back of the neck. Hazreti Pîr'in Lem'alar'da, Şefkat Tokatları'nda ifade ettiği gibi. -Orada önce kendisinin üç tane şefkat tokadını ifade ediyor.- Şefkat Tokatları'nda ifade ettiği gibi şefkat tokadı, hafif, böyle enseden.
Yes, my teacher had done this to me. Evet, öğretmenim bana öyle yapmıştı.
It was something very small, I had said, 'Let us spread seeds here'.
'From this we can also deduce the following: "Yahu bundan şu mana da çıkar:
Does spreading seeds also come to mean burying some people, does it also come to this meaning?'
I think it was something like this. Zannediyorum, böyle bir şeydi.
I don't know if she is still with us; she was a lady of Istanbul.
She had been brought up with the values of those days, but she was very much a lady. O dönemin yetiştirdiklerinden ama tam hanımefendi idi.
I cannot forget, she said, 'You too?' to me. Hiç unutmam, "Sen de mi?" dedi bana.
I could never forget this, despite more than seventy years having passed since this incident, it never leaves my memory.
She simply asked 'You too?' "Sen de mi?" dedi.
After all, as much as Almighty God provided us with all that we have, He may have also punished us lightly in response to a small error.
What error? Ne hatası bu?
An error of the hands and feet, the eyes and ears, the tongue and lips, or an error of reasoning, representation, and imagination.
Whatever the mistake may have been; a misplaced glance, a step in the wrong direction, a hand extended wrongly, a slip of the tongue, or listening to something we shouldn't. Hata ne olursa olsun; bakış hatası, adım atma hatası, el uzatma hatası, dil-dudak kullanma hatası.
Whatever these may have been, we committed them by accident. Her ne ise bunlar, bilmeyerek yaptık.
With a light 'You too?' He nudges us towards repentance and self-correction.
He also cleanses us, with His Divine Favours, with His unveiling His beauty and majesty to us, He prepares us for His Exalted Presence, to be able to join the Prophets and their followers on this sacred journey.
Furthermore, if you look at the things that all the followers of this path had to endure in the past, it is all the same.
Just as these things came upon them, they will also come upon you, never doubt this.
'The words of the Master of Humankind, peace and blessings be upon him, is the master of all words.' "İnsanlığın Efendisi'nin (sallallâhu aleyhi ve sellem) sözü, sözlerin efendisidir."
He says: O buyuruyor ki:
'The hardest, the most arduous, the most insurmountable of all calamity happens to the Prophets, then others depending on their levels.' "Belanın en zorlusu, en çetini, üstesinden gelinmezi, Enbiyânın başına, sonra da derecesine göre diğerlerinin başına."
It happens to the head of the halo, to those that are turned towards that halo, to heads of those that are turned towards the turned ones, and to those that are turned towards the turned ones. Hâle'nin başına, Hâle'ye müteveccih olanların başına, müteveccih olanlara müteveccih olanların başına, müteveccih olanlara müteveccih olanların başına.
The Halo is composed of the Companions of our noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. Hâle, Efendimiz'in ashabı (sallallâhu aleyhi ve sellem).
The Successors are those that are turned towards them. Tâbiîn, onlara müteveccih olanlar.
The generation after the Successors are those that are turned towards the Successors. Tebe-i Tâbiîn, Tâbiîn'e müteveccih olanlar.
Those coming after them are those that are turned towards them. Daha sonra gelenler, onlara müteveccih olanlar.
May God bless us with that courtesy and may He protect us from falling down on that road.
This will suffice you. Vesselam.
'You are my Master, all my dignity, if any, is due to You. "Efendimsin, cihânda itibarım varsa Sendendir.
—O the Most Noble Prophet; my Master— -Ey Rasûl-i Zîşân; Efendim-
All my fame from your root of love, if any, is due to You.' Meyân-ı âşıkânda iştiharım varsa Sendendir."
Sheikh Ghalib uttered these for the Honourable Rumi. Şeyh Galip, bunu Hazreti Mevlânâ için söylemiş.
However, if I had uttered these words, though I certainly cannot do so, I would have sent it to its True Owner: Fakat Kıtmîr, bunu söyleseydi -ki öyle söz söyleyemez katiyen- ben, onu Gerçek Sahibine gönderirdim:
You are my Master. Efendimsin.
All my dignity, if any, is due to You. Cihanda bir itibarım varsa, Sendendir.
As a human being, if I have any feelings of respect for human values, I have learned it from You.
I have learned it from You, from You, from You, from You. Senden öğrendim, Senden, Senden, Senden.
I have become a servant, become a servant, become a servant; "Kul oldum, kul oldum, kul oldum;
I have become bent double at Your service, one of the slaves of Your road. Ben Sana hizmette iki büklüm, Senin yolunun bendelerinden biri oldum.
The slaves feel joyful; they rejoice when they attain their freedom; Bendeler, hürriyete kavuştuklarında sevinir, sürura ererler;
I am joyful and I rejoice as I am a servant to You." Ben, Sana kul/köle olduğumdan dolayı sürûr ve sevinç içindeyim."
