Why have the models proposed and established by the Gülen Movement survived?
When new understandings are widely acknowledged and welcomed, and when people rapidly institutionalize for societal needs and cultural projects, this gives rise to new social models. The models provided by the Gülen Movement are cultural rather than political, they transform patterns of thought and relationship. These models survive because they follow a lawful political and institutional form.
The Gülen Movement has achieved rapid transformation of attitudes, efficient institutionalization of public needs and initiatives, collective or organized philanthropy for education, and apparently simple solutions to societal discord which were previously lacking in Turkish society, and which were never attempted by the protectionist political bureaucracy.
