Nur ve karanlıklar

Repairing the Castle of Humanity

The noble Spirit of the Master of Humankind states: 'The manner in which you live is how you will die.' "Nasıl yaşarsanız, öyle ölürsünüz" buyuruyor Hazreti Rûh-u Seyyidi'l-Enâm:
'You will die the way you have lived; you will be resurrected the way you have died, that is how the afterlife will be for you.' "Nasıl yaşarsanız, öyle ölürsünüz; nasıl ölürseniz, öyle haşr u neşr olur, öyle dirilir, öyle bir ba's u ba'de'l-mevt yaşarsınız."
Therefore we should have a sense of direction in our lives, so that we are sure of our ultimate destination.
The Most Noble Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, states: Yine şöyle buyuruyor, Rasûl-i Ekrem (sallallâhu aleyhi ve sellem):
'Know the value of these five things before they are replaced by another five: "Beş şey gelmeden evvel şu beş şeyi ganimet bilip değerlendir:
The value of youth before old age, health before sickness, wealth before poverty, free time before occupation and life before death. Know the value of these things and make the most of them.' İhtiyarlık gelip çatmadan evvel gençliğin, hastalıktan evvel sıhhatin, fakir düşmeden evvel varlıklı olmanın, meşguliyetten evvel boş zamanın ve ölüm gelmeden evvel hayatın kıymetini bil, bunların hakkını ver."
Do what you have to do before you get old, worship God with all your energy before old age overtakes you. Evet, yaşlanmadan evvel yapacağın şeyleri yap; zor yapacak duruma düşmeden, dûçâr olmadan evvel gençliğini ibadet u tâat ile taçlandır.
When all the faculties of the brain are effective, one should travel through the levels of belief, from knowledge to love, to insight, to ecstatic love and to longing to meet Him. Using your neurons and systems in the most effective manner. Zihninin bütün nöronları çalıştığı dönemde, imandan marifete, marifetten muhabbete, ondan iz'ana, aşk u şevke, iştiyâk-i likâullaha, çalıştır beynindeki bütün nöronları, bütün sistemleri; bilinmesi gerekli olan şeyi, en iyi şekilde bilmeye bak.
These can only happen when one is young. Gençlikte olur, bunlar.
When a person gets old, their mind will not work like it used to. People even start forgetting things that they know best. Yaşlandığında insan, zihninde durgunluk olur; gördüğünüz gibi bazılarında Alzheimer'ler de olur, en iyi bildiği şeyleri bile unutur, hıfzettiği şeyleri bile unutur.
To do it while in youth... Gençlikte esasen.
In youth, a person can worship God plentifully and observe a hundred units of Prayer a day.
I believe this is how one's youth should be utilised. Bence onu öyle değerlendirmek lazımdır.
Fasting during certain days of the month is important as well. Ayın belli günlerinde oruç tutma.
When a person gets old they cannot do this as often. Gençlikte yapılabilir, yaşlandığında zorlanır insan.
If one is strong enough, one can do like Prophet David; fast one day and take a break the next day and then fast again the following day. Gücü yetiyorsa, "savm-ı Davud" tutar; bir gün yer, bir gün tutar.
In the latest issue of the Çağlayan magazine, the benefits of fasting were discussed in an article. How fasting helps the heart, brain, eye, and the human anatomy in general were mentioned. Orucun fezâili ile alakalı bir yazı vardı, Çağlayan mecmuasının son sayısında; orucun çok önemli olduğu, insanın maddî anatomisi üzerinde şu tesiri, kalb üzerinde şu tesiri, beyin üzerinde şu tesiri, göz üzerinde şu tesiri, iris üzerinde şu tesiri, şu tesiri, şu tesiri yaptığı anlatılıyordu.
Consequently, one should fast on Mondays and Thursday; if this over burdens you, upon the recommendation of the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, one should try to fast on the 13th, 14th and 15th days of the lunar month. Dolayısıyla Pazartesi ve Perşembe günleri oruç tutmalı; buna gücün yetmiyorsa, Kamerî ayın 13, 14, 15'inci günlerinde tutmalı, Allah Rasûlü'nün tavsiyesi (sallallâhu aleyhi ve sellem).
If you have the strength, one should do the 'Fast of David', this is the recommendation the noble Prophet made to his Companions. Gücün yetiyorsa, "savm-ı Dâvud" tutmalı, bir gün yiyip bir gün tutmalı, Rasûl-i Ekrem'in ashâbına tavsiye buyurduğu üzere.
However some have devoted themselves to a great degree of servanthood, that they don't limit themselves to this, instead they respond by saying, 'Every day, O Messenger of God, we need to fast every day'. Fakat bazıları kendilerini öyle "ubûdiyet" çağlayanına salmışlar ki, bunları da az gördüklerinden dolayı, "Her gün, yâ Rasûlallah" diyorlar, "Az oldu, her gün."
They pray from dawn to dusk and dusk to dawn. Namaz kılıyorlar, sabahtan akşama kadar, akşamdan sabaha kadar.
When it is said to them, 'Spare a little time for yourselves', God forbid, not in objection to the Messenger of God, but they respond with, 'Why don't you leave us to devote our entire lives to worship?' "Bir parça kendinize de zaman ayırın" deyince, hâşâ Rasûlullah'a itiraz değil ama adeta "Niye bizi bırakmıyorsun, böyle bütün hayatımızı ibâdet u tâate verelim" diyorlar.
This is the Companions' conception of servanthood. Sahabî telakkisi.
Indeed, a person should complete these tasks when their strength and power allows them to do so. Evet, insanın, yapacağı şeyleri gücü, kuvveti yettiği dönemde yapması lazım.
Before one dies, they should perceive the world as a place for gains. Ölmeden evvel, hayatı bir ganimet bilmesi lazım.
Realise before becoming ill, that health is indeed wealth. Sıhhati, hastalanmadan evvel, ganimet bilmesi lazım.
Know of this wealth, utilise it and double one's gains. Ganimet, bilmesi lazım, değerlendirmesi lazım, müzâaf değerlendirmesi lazım.
Later one may become immobile and unable to do certain tasks, may God protect us, and say 'if only...'.
Many others are chanting 'if only, if only...' Niceleri böyle "Yâ leyte" çekiyorlar. ("Keşke" demek).
To prevent oneself from saying 'if only, if only...', then one must utilise their life to avoid these regrets. "Keşke, keşke!" dememek için hayatı "Keşke" demeyecek şekilde yaşamak lazım.
We need to utilise every moment, every minute, and every split second in gaining God's approval. Onun her ânını, her santimini, her saniyesini, her sâlisesini, Rabbimizin rızası istikâmetinde değerlendirmeye bakmamız lazım.
As a result, worldly matters will easily be resolved.
For those who devote themselves to the world, even if it is temporarily, the things they do may one day turn sour, and engulf them entirely with trouble, trial and misfortune.
For those who walk on the path of God, will be surprised when they least expect it, with open doors and ease brought to their troubles.
Hence, the Holy Qur'an states: Nitekim Kur'an şöyle diyor:
'Whoever keeps from disobedience to God in reverence for Him and piety, He enables a way out for him (of every difficulty)' (At-Talaq, 65:2). "Kim Allah'a gönülden saygı duyar ve O'na karşı gelmekten sakınırsa, Allah, zorluklar karşısında ona bir çıkış kapısı açar." (Talak, 65:2)
For those who are in a circle of taqwa (piety), who fear God, refrain from sin, fulfil the tasks God has commanded, because the root word of taqwa is 'protection', those who seek protection in God, who have their heart and soul turned to God, regularly strive to observe God, will be surprised with God's divine favours when they least expect it. Takva dairesi içinde olan, Allah'tan korkan, mehârimden içtinap eden (haramlardan sakınan), Cenâb-ı Hakk'ın emrettiği şeyleri kemâl-i hassasiyetle yerine getiren, "takvâ" kelimesi "vikâye" kökünden geldiği için, Cenâb-ı Hakk'ın himayesine/vikâyesine sığınan, sürekli kalbi ile dili ile Cenâb-ı Hakk'a müteveccih yaşayan, oturup kalkıp hep O'nu anan/yâd eden insan, hiç beklenmedik şekilde, Cenâb-ı Hakk'ın çok sürpriz eltâf-ı Sübhâniyesi ile karşı karşıya kalır.
In those places where others lose, when it seems as if they are losing, they always find themselves among the successful. Elin-âlemin kaybettiği yerlerde, o kaybediyor gibi göründüğü alanlarda, hep kazanma kuşakları içinde kendini bulur.
While others lose while on the cusp of victory, they experience victory upon victory at a point when they believe they are at loss, with the grace and permission of God. El-âlem, "Kazanıyorum" diye kazanma kuşağında kayıplar yaşarken, o, "Kaybediyorum" dediği yerde, iç içe kazanımlar yaşar, Allah'ın izni-inayetiyle.
As a side note: Antrparantez:
And who knows the unexpected things that can accompany the current oppression and suffering; we cannot know for sure, we cannot predict.
That oppression, that suffering, that destitute, that deprivation, that expulsion... Şu mağduriyet, şu mazlumiyet, şu mahrumiyet, şu ma'zûliyet, şu muhraciyet.
We did not use the term 'expulsion' but yes, we should include it; that is, the people who have lost their jobs.
The people who have been pushed aside. Hiçleştirilen insanlar.
The people whose reputations have been destroyed. İtibarsızlaştırılan insanlar.
The people who are left hungry and thirsty. Aç-susuz bırakılan insanlar.
The ones, who are left for dead by others, saying, 'Let them die'. "Ölsünler" denen insanlar.
In fact, the expression 'die' is too polite; I said it that way in your presence; if we were to express it in their language, 'The ones who do not accept us, who do not obey us should kick the bucket!' Hatta "Ölsün" tabiri kibarca oldu; biraz, sizin hatırınıza söyledim; onların dilleri ile ifade edecek olursak, "Gebersinler bizi kabul etmeyenler, bize biat etmeyenler."
Indeed, those leading the way, believing they are victorious, saying 'I won', appearing to be victorious end up in disappointment and frustration.
"They are preoccupied with planning, with setting traps; And I shall respond to their schemes, (I shall thwart their schemes)" (At-Tariq, 86:15-16). "Onlar, planlar yapmak, tuzaklar kurmakla meşguller; Ben de hilelerine mukabele ederim, (hilelerini boşa çıkarırım)" (Târık, 86:15-16).
They plot conspiracies over conspiracies, schemes over schemes but God says: Onlar, komplo üzerine komplo, komplo üzerine komplo kuruyor ama Allah buyuruyor ki:
I shall respond to their conspiracies, let them plot their schemes, 'God shall also respond to their schemes. "Ben, komplolarına mukabelede bulunurum." "Onlar tuzak kuradursunlar, Allah da tuzaklarına mukabelede bulunuyordu.
God is the best at responding to those who set traps' (Al-Anfal, 6:30). Allah tuzak kuranlara mukabele edenlerin en hayırlısıdır" (Enfâl, 6:30).
They engage in tricks and deceptions; they do everything within their power to defame others, to hurt the reputation of others among the public. Onlar, hile/ayak oyunu peşinde koşuyorlar; başkalarını karalamak, halkın nazarında itibarlarını sarsmak için ellerinden gelen her şeyi yapıyorlar.
And so God says, 'I will respond to that deceit.' Allah da "Ben, o mekre mukabelede bulunurum." buyuruyor.
No one can resist God's reply. Allah'ın mukabelesine kimse karşı koyamaz.
The All-Just God thwarts in such a way, humankind never even sees it coming; they fall into a choke hold, they are held from the cuffs with the divine will of God, and fall face-first onto the ground. Cenâb-ı Hak, öyle tepetaklak getirir ki, insan, hiç farkına varamaz, gider orada; meşîet-i İlâhiye, İrâde-i İlâhiye ile bir kündeye, bir el-enseye gider, yüzüstü kapaklanır yere.
Back to the point: Geriye dönelim:
Many of them will say in regret, 'If only, if only, if only...' Çokları "Keşke, keşke, keşke" diyecekler.
'Oh, would that I were mere dust (instead of being a responsible being with consciousness and free will' (An-Naba, 78:40). "Ah ne olurdu, keşke toprak olaydım" (Nebe, 78:40).
They will say, 'Oh, would that I were mere dust so that I was not able to commit such evil things.' "Keşke, toprak olsaydım, bu haltları karıştırmasaydım.
'Such evil and corrupt things.' Bu melanetleri, bu mesâvîyi irtikâp etmeseydim" diyecekler.
If God's wills, may He bless those who have committed evil and corrupt things with complete guidance.
If they do not will to be guided, if they do not use their will power in that direction, we leave them to God, may He give them what they deserve. Onlar, dilemiyorlar ise, şart-ı âdî planında iradelerini o istikamette kullanmıyorlar ise, meşîet-i İlâhiye de o istikamette tecelli etmiyorsa şayet, biz de onları Allah'a havale ediyoruz; Allah, istihkaklarını versin.
'The night is pregnant with ease and sorrow. "Âbistan-ı sefa vü kederdir leyâl hep
Who knows what the womb of darkness will deliver before sunrise.' Gün doğmadan meşime-i şebden neler doğar."
Nights are a herald for ease Geceler hep sefa ve kedere gebedir
Who knows what the womb of darkness will deliver before sunrise. Gün doğmadan gecenin/yarının rahminden neler doğar.
In a sense, the nights are pregnant with various things. Geceler, bir yönüyle, değişik şeylere gebe bir âbistandır.
The grammar in these words refers to a well-watered piece of land where trees and plants grow and thrive.
The nights are thus rose-gardens and spring-gardens. Gülistandır, baharistandır, bostandır geceler.
Who knows what the womb of darkness will deliver before sunrise. Gün doğmadan meşime-i şebden (gecenin rahminden) neler doğar; belli olmaz.
Our responsibility is turning toward God. Bize düşen şey, Cenâb-ı Hakk'a teveccühtür.
'Rely on God, embrace the struggle, and yield to wisdom. "Allah'a dayan, sa'ye sarıl, hikmete râm ol" doğru yolda yürümek.
Always walking toward the Almighty God. Cenâb-ı Hakk'a hep müteveccih yürümek.
God will not leave those who are like this unattended. Cenâb-ı Hak, böyle yapanları yüz üstü bırakmaz, sahipsiz bırakmaz.
You can be sure of that. Siz de emin olun.
You can expect this from God's grace. Allah'ın inayetinden emin olun.
Be certain that he will not leave you unattended. Sizi sahipsiz bırakmayacağından emin olun.
If not today, tomorrow. Bugün olmazsa yarın, yarın olmazsa öbür gün.
Given that our steadfastness is preserved. Elverir ki, istikâmet korunabilsin.
Steadfastness is an irrefutable call to God's mercy.
Utilise that call. O çağrıyı kullanın.
According to Bediüzzaman, our service is not repairing minor damage but instead a comprehensive destruction that also includes Islam. Üstad hazretleri, Hizmet'in yalnız cüz'î bir tahribatı ve küçük bir haneyi değil, bilakis küllî bir tahribatı ve İslamiyet'i içine alan çok büyük bir kaleyi tamir ettiğini söylüyor.
Yes, let's say 'including Islam'; essentially indicating a need to repair humanity.
Is it possible to call this castle being repaired, 'the fortress of humanity'?
Yes, it can be, it can be called with primacy. Evet, denir, evleviyetle denir.
In fact, behind the deprivation that we face in the world today lies the absence of a system that people can envy. Esasen, bugün yeryüzünde yaşanan mahrumiyetin arkasında, insanların imrenebileceği bir sistemin adem-i mevcudiyeti yatmaktadır.
A humanitarian system that is attempted to be portrayed with utopias.
A world in which humanities rights and laws are respected. İnsanlığın hak ve hukukunun gözetildiği bir dünya.
A world where humanism is treasured. Hümanizmin semâvîleştiği bir dünya.
A world in which women's rights are treasured. Kadın haklarının semâvîleştiği bir dünya.
A world in which humanity can embrace with comfort and say, 'This is where I will attain genuine serenity.'
An envied world. İmrenilen bir dünya.
The problem of mankind today is the absence of such a world. Bugün insanlığın problemi, böyle bir dünyanın adem-i mevcudiyetidir, yokluğudur.
We are experiencing the absence of a world. Onun fıkdânı (yokluğu, yitirilmiş olması) yaşanıyor yeryüzünde.
So people are at each other's throats. Dolayısıyla insanlar, birbirlerini boğazlıyorlar.
They are coming up with new methods of slaughter. Değişik boğazlama planları yapıyorlar:
'Where should we start cutting? From the neck or from the arms? From the feet, the eyes or the ears?' "Acaba neresinden başlasak kesmeye; boğazından mı, kollarından mı budasak, ayaklarından mı budasak, yoksa gözlerini mi oysak, kulaklarına mı kurşun döksek?" filan.
Evil plans like this. Böyle şeytanî planlar.
There are deliberations such as, 'We could bring back execution and hang fifty thousand people.' Hani "İdamı getirsek, böyle elli bin insan assak.
At a time when fifteen thousand people were hung, people fell into line out of fear. Bir dönemde on beş bin kişi asılınca, insanlar korkularından hizaya gelmişlerdi.
Now if we punish fifty thousand people, I suppose they will pledge allegiance to the pharaoh of our age, just like they did to the Pharaoh, Amenophis and Ramses.'
Constant sinister deliberations... Sürekli böyle şeytanî mülahazalar.
If you were to examine the face of the Islamic world with a lens, binoculars or spectacles, seeing it, reading it and discussing the matter in the picture, why would you envy it?
In this respect, the problem of the Islamic world is mainly 'a problem of faith'.
It is for this reason that Bediüzzaman, the spokesman of our times, devoted all his energies to instilling the truths of faith within humankind, developing and supporting them in this matter. Onun için Çağın Sözcüsü, bütün himmetini iman hakikatlerini insanların içine yerleştirmeye matuf kullanmış, o mevzuda hep tahkimatta bulunmuştur.
He explains one matter in maybe ten various manners, devoting so much time to it. Bir meseleyi belki on yerde, farklı üsluplarla anlatıyor.
The Munificent Quran calls this 'variation'.
Different manners of explanation... Farklı versiyonlar ile anlatma.
Faith in God is explained in one section in a particular manner, then explained in another section in another manner, and another, in another manner.
The capabilities, abilities, horizons of knowledge, understandings, careers, dispositions, and doctrines of people all vary; the language they understand varies. Kabiliyetler, istidatlar, ilim ufukları, anlayışlar, meslekler, mizaçlar, meşrepler farklı olduğundan; insanlar farklı dillerden anladıklarından.
One will understand the Hijaz style; one will understand Ushshaq, Saba, Huzzam or Sagah style. Kimisi Hicaz'ı anlıyor, kimisi Uşşâk'ı anlıyor, kimisi Saba'yı anlıyor, kimisi Hüzzam'ı anlıyor, kimisi Segâh'ı anlıyor.
Thus, it is necessary to the present these matters to various dispositions, through 'variation.'
There is a consideration and diligence of 'May everyone benefit,' in the presentation of such topics in different places through different means. Değişik yerlerde, farklı versiyonlar ile meseleleri sunmada "Amanın herkes istifade etsin" mülahazası ve gayreti vardır.
'May everyone understand these ultimate truths.' "Herkes şu hakikatleri anlasın."
May everyone understand that, 'I have faith in the existence of God, His angels, His Prophets, His Books, the Day of Judgement, Divine Destiny, and that good and evil is created by God. "Allah'a, meleklerine, peygamberlerine, kitaplarına, âhiret gününe, kadere, hayır ve şerrin Allah Teâlâ'dan olduğuna iman ettim.
And I also have faith that the Resurrection is true and real.
I bear witness that there is no rightly worshipped one other than God and I also bear witness that the noble Muhammad is His servant and Messenger.'
The pillars of faith... Erkân-ı imaniye.
But Bediüzzaman stresses more on the four essentials, 'God's Unity, Prophethood, Resurrection, and Justice.' It is these four essentials that he terms 'the four aims of the Quran,' that other religions are in alliance with.
Imam al-Ghazali combines two and thus presents three essentials, and greatly emphasises these fundamentals. Hazreti Gazzâlî, birini diğerine ircâ etmek suretiyle "üç tane" diyor; esasen bu esaslar üzerinde tahşidatta bulunuyor.
Yes, humanity's greatest loss is the loss of faith; people who have estranged their faith. Evet, insanlığın en önemli kaybı, iman kaybıdır; imanlarını yitirmiş insanlar.
They have not believed in God to the extent that they should have, they did not believe in our Prophet to the extent that they should have. Allah'a inanmaları gerektiği ölçüde inanmamışlar; Peygamberimize inanmaları gerektiği şekilde inanmamışlar.
They were not able to love God more than their loved ones, nor able to feel affection towards Him with Divine love. Allah'a en sevdiklerinden daha fazla, aşk derecesinde muhabbet duyamamışlar.
They do not carry the mannerisms of the noble Umar ibn al-Khattab who says, 'I love you more than everything including my own ego, O Messenger of God!' They were not filled with love for God and His Messenger as such.
To incorporate this feeling, this thought, this is the actual goal. Bu duyguyu, bu düşünceyi içtenleştirme; asıl mesele bu imiş.
Bediüzzaman, the respected sage, the shining light, the light of spiritual support, the spokesman of our times, directs his will in this area, calling it 'the issue of faith'. Hazreti Pîr-i Mugân, Şem'-i tâbân, Ziyâ-i himmet, Çağın Sözcüsü, himmetini bu noktaya teksif ediyor; "iman meselesi" diyor.
Since this building has been repaired, consequently, humanity will also become repaired.
What is Islam charged with? İslam neyi âmirdir?
What do we refer to when we use the phrase, 'Exalted Islamic morals'? "Ahlâk-ı âliye-i İslamiye" dediğiniz zaman, ne kastederiz?
Look at the books on morals... Ahlak kitaplarına bakın.
When this is established, you will see angels walking in place of humans. O gerçekleştirildiği zaman bu defa insanların yerinde meleklerin yürüdüğünü göreceksiniz.
While looking at the Imam at the pulpit in the mosque, you will say, 'Is this the Archangel Gabriel, Michael or Israfil?'
This is what will happen to the public. Toplum, o hale gelecek ki.
People, who when they hear the term 'lies', they will ask, 'what are they'?
Falsehood and lies are going to be wiped from their terminology; lies are going to become nonexistent. Sözlüklerden bile silinip gitmiş yalan; yalan, kendini yalan çağlayanına salmış, bir daha geriye dönmemiş.
Slander... İftira.
Slander will be erased from their dictionary, they will ask, what does slandering even mean? İftira silinecek sözlüklerden, "Yahu o iftira denen şey nedir?" diyecekler.
To hold other's in low esteem... İtibarsızlaştırma, insanlar hakkında olumsuz düşünme.
All these ill-morals as expressed by Imam al-Ghazali as deeds which lead to perdition, will be erased entirely from their consciences, to remember them they will ask others: Bütün bu "mesâvi-i ahlak", Hazreti Gazzâlî ifadesi ile "Mühlikât" (insanı helak olmaya sürükleyen kötü/menfî tavır, davranış ve sıfatlar), bütün bütün zihinlerden silinip gidecek ve insanlar, onları hatırlamak için soracaklar başkalarına:
What could this mean I wonder? Yahu bu neydi acaba?
What was wrath, hatred, envy, what were they? Gazab neydi, kin neydi, nefret neydi, hased denen şey neydi, o mel'un neydi?
An emotion that is prevalent, that of jealousy, envy and intolerance. Hani günümüzde bolca yaşanan o kıskançlık, o hased, o çekememezlik.
'You are doing it, I am not, and therefore, I have to stop you.' "Sen yapıyorsun, ben yapamıyorum; dolayısıyla seni yok etmem lazım benim."
Such things are occurring in abundance, there is an inflation of it.
A world where these evil things will exist only in dictionaries. Bunların sözlüklere mahkûm olduğu öyle bir dünya.
If one is to construct a foundation and building based on faith and Islamic criterions, which Bediüzzaman spent all his energy striving for, you will construct an unshakeable structure, one that has not been imagined in utopias.
Pardon my expression, but people's mouths will water in expectation.
I've repeated this many times: Çok tekrar ettim bunu:
A world beyond Campanella's The City of the Sun... Campanella'nın "Güneş Devleti"nde olduğunun ötesinde bir dünya.
He writes about a utopia. O, Güneş Devleti'ni yazıyor, ütopyadan bahsediyor orada.
Then, at the zenith of the Ottoman period, in fact not even at their peak, a period after this.
Just as the sun sets towards them, and the breeze slowly cools, a late afternoon period. Güneş guruba meyletmiş, hava az serinlemeye başlamış, ikindi sonrası dönem.
We can question that period: the temperament slowly begins to fade and wane. O dönemi sorgulayabiliriz; o kıvam, yavaş yavaş renk atmaya başlamış, matlaşmaya başlamış.
Even in that period, when he becomes aware of the Ottomans, he says, 'I wrote The City of the Sun in vain'.
Ponder upon it... Düşünün.
Indeed, this once sentence is like a concise summary of a book written by Muhyiddin ibn Arabi on the Ottomans, Shajara an-Numaniyya. Evet, bir cümle ile Şecere-i Numâniye'yi özetliyor gibi, Muhyiddin İbn Arabi hazretlerinin Osmanlılar ile alakalı yazdığı kitap, Şecere-i Numâniye, onu hatırlatıyor.
When a praise-worthy structure as such is formed, it becomes a source of hope for the rest of humanity.
There is a lot they can take from you. Çok şey alacaklardır sizden.
Because you represent humanistic ideals, they will take from you concepts of respect and justice in the pursuit of humanity. İnsanlık adına, insanî değerleri temsil ettiğinizden dolayı, mesela "insana saygı", mesela "hukuk", mesela "adalet" gibi pek çok fazileti sizden almak suretiyle insanlar kendi dünyalarında da üfül üfül huzurun estiği bir dünya oluşturacaklardır.
And in their world too... Kendi dünyalarında da.
From that perspective, you are not establishing those monuments for the sake of your worldly concerns.
The monuments you establish do not only rest with you, they at the same time say something about the world. İkame ettiğiniz âbide sizin dünyanıza münhasır olmuyor; aynı zamanda bütün dünya adına bir şey ifade ediyor.
You are planting such a monument that can be sighted from anywhere in the world, from any point and any peak, and praised, 'What kind of a monument is this?'
Today in the absence of humanity, a structure as such is essential.
A structure as such needs to become rooted. Bu yapının teessüsü lazımdır.
Of course, I am particularly using the word 'rooted'. Tabiî "teessüs" kelimesini özellikle kullanıyorum.
Since false displays are common, efforts remain integral. Bu, "tekellüf"ten geldiğinden dolayı, göbek çatlatasıya bu mevzuda gayret sarf etmeye bağlı; şakak zonklatasıya bu mevzuda gayrete bağlı.
Strange storms have always occurred. Değişik fırtınalar, her zaman olmuştur.
The great Messengers experienced similar storms of challenges. Enbiyâ-ı ızâm, o fırtınalara maruz kalmıştır.
They lived through tsunamis but never gave up. O tsunamilere maruz kalmışlar fakat yılmamışlar.
As Bediüzzaman eloquently puts it, there have been Prophets with only one or even no followers. Yine Hazreti Pîr'in ifadesiyle, yeryüzünde bir tek ümmeti olan yahut hiç ümmeti bulunmayan peygamberler bulunmuş.
I do not remember another person making that statement, but such sayings are being true: Bir başkasının o ifadede bulunduğunu hatırlamıyorum ama o türlü şeylerin var olduğunu hatırlıyorum:
Yes, there were Prophets among the great Messengers that only had one or two people believing in them.
For example, if we were to consider the Messiah, when he passed away, raised up to the highest level of Paradise, and reached God with his light-diffusing body, he only had eleven people left behind. Mesela, seyyidinâ Hazreti Mesih'i düşünecek olursanız, o (aleyhisselam) ruhunun ufkuna yürüdüğü veya A'lâ-i İlliyyîn'e yükseldiği, "vücûd-i necm-i nûrânî"siyle Huzur-i Kibriyâ'ya (celle celâluhu) yükseldiği zaman, arkada bıraktığı on bir tane insan var.
Well, he is the Prophet Jesus, 'the Spirit breathed by God'. Ee canım, Hazreti İsa, "ruhullah".
How many followers did the Prophet Zachariah leave behind? Hazreti Zekeriya, ne kadar insan bırakmıştı arkada?
The Prophet John wandered around the region of Mersin, how many people did he leave behind after he was martyred?
Yes... Evet.
There were Prophets who only had few followers, and there were others who had no followers at all but they left an impression behind.
They left such memories that people who came after were mesmerised by them and therefore followed their path.
In this respect, instead of expecting for things to happen, today's people should walk in the right path and project a good image; raising the impression of 'a person worth following'.
The respected Companions projected that image in such a way that we talk of them with envy; we get goose bumps from head to toe with an excitement whenever we mention any one of them. Nasıl Sahabe-i Kiram efendilerimiz o imajı bırakmışlar, dolayısıyla biz, imrenerek onlardan bahsediyoruz; hangisini yâd etsek, bir yönüyle, belki tepeden tırnağa heyecan ile ürperiyoruz.
On the other hand, the destruction and vandalism of all that you did through years of efforts and self-sacrifice will definitely cause grief in your hearts; and you will shake as if you are being kicked.
However as I am always humbly mentioning, a believer will shake but not fall, will never topple; will stumble but stand up and continue moving forward, with God's permission and grace. Fakat her zaman âcizâne arz ettiğim gibi, mü'min sarsılsa bile asla devrilmez, ilelebet kapaklanmaz; sendeler fakat kalkar doğrulur, yine yolunda yürür, Allah'ın izni ve inayetiyle.
A believer, with God's permission and grace, will never give up. Bir mü'min -tek başına bile kalsa- Allah'ın izni ve inayetiyle, hiçbir zaman pes etmez.
Just as Bediüzzaman challenged: Meydan okuduğu gibi birinin (Hazreti Bediüzzaman'ın):
O unfortunate ones who exchange the afterlife for this world! "Ey din ve âhiretini dünyaya satan bedbahtlar.
If you want to live, do not bother me! Yaşamanızı isterseniz, bana ilişmeyiniz.
But if you do so, know and tremble with fear that I will be avenged in a far more dreadful way. İlişseniz, intikamım muzaaf bir surette sizden alınacağını biliniz, titreyiniz.
I hope from the source of Divine Mercy that: Ben rahmet-i İlâhiyeden ümid ederim ki:
That my death will serve Islam better than my life and that martyrdom will explode like a bomb and eradicate you. Mevtim, hayatımdan ziyade dine hizmet edecek ve ölümüm başınızda bomba gibi patlayıp başınızı dağıtacak.
If you have enough courage, molest me! Cesaretiniz varsa ilişiniz.
Do your worst, and then see what I will do! Yapacağınız varsa, göreceğiniz de var.
In the face of your threats, I recite: Ben bütün tehdidatınıza karşı, bütün kuvvetimle bu âyeti okuyorum:
Those to whom some people said: 'Look, those people have gathered against you, therefore be fearful of them'. But instead of being fearful, it increased only in their faith and they responded: 'God is sufficient for us; how excellent a guardian He is.
How excellent a Guardian He is! (Al Imran, 3:173). O ne güzel vekildir' demişlerdir) (Âl-i Imrân, 3:173)."
As though to challenge the entire world single handedly. Tek başına bütün âleme/cihana meydan okurcasına.
I think every believer should act this way, think this way and behave this way.
Such as, I was hurt, but I did not collapse. Fakat "Tekme yedim, sarsılmadım" filan.
Not quite like that... Öyle de değil.
As Bediüzzaman states, 'There is no torment that I have not experienced, no oppression I have not suffered. Onu da ifade ederken, "Çekmediğim cefa, görmediğim eza kalmadı.
I was brought to court-martials and treated like a murderer. I was sent from one exile to another like a vagabond.
I was barred from communication for months in confinement. Memleket zindanlarında aylarca ihtilattan men' edildim.
I was poisoned many times over. Defalarca zehirlendim.
I was subjected to all kinds of insults. Türlü türlü hakaretlere maruz kaldım.
There were times when I preferred death over life. Zaman oldu ki, hayattan bin defa ziyade ölümü tercih ettim.
If my religion had not prevented me from suicide, this Said would have become dust long ago.' Eğer dinim intihardan beni men' etmeseydi, belki bugün Said topraklar altında çürümüş gitmişti" diyor.
These are these words of a distraught, beaten person.
Despite everything, the important thing is not to lose hope and be longing for God's grace and mercy.
Hence if God is with us, we must strengthen our desire to continue that relationship. Madem Allah bizimle beraberdir; dolasıyla o beraberliği devam ettirme mevzuunda hassasiyetimizi derinleştirmemiz lazım.
First of all, when we look at the negative events around us we should ask 'did we use opportunities efficiently that Almighty God gave to us?' Olumsuz hadiselere bakarken, öncelikle "Acaba biz, Cenâb-ı Hakk'ın bize lütfettiği o imkanları rantabl değerlendirdik mi?" zaviyesinden bakmalıyız.
For example, if Almighty God asks: Mesela Cenâb-ı Hak dese ki:
'It is ok that you went to 170 countries however why did not you go to 350 countries?' "Yüz yetmiş ülke tamam ama -dünyada o kadar ülke yok- niye üç yüz elli ülkeye gitmediniz?"
There aren't so many nations, but as it was shown in the International Festival of Language and Culture; there were humans, as an analogy, from Mars, Uranus, and Saturn.
They expressed their feelings. Onlar da o olimpiyatlardaki gösterilerinde filan kendi hislerini ifade ediyorlardı.
'My God! "Allah'ım.
This issue is over on earth, we opened schools all over the world. Now, is there any place in the heavens to open more schools, more universities?
If You'd show us the way to go we could do such things there.'
So if the expectation of the Highest Realm is this, we should ask to ourselves if we used all the opportunities that Almighty God gave us efficiently. Şimdi beklenen şey bu ise Mele-i A'lânın sakinlerince; biz acaba Cenâb-ı Hakk'ın bize lütfettiği o imkanları rantabl değerlendirdik mi?
Consequently, this is a kind of warning to us from Almighty God.
When I talk, I emphasise the magnanimous, altruistic and sincere character of our migrant friends. O dünyanın dört bir yanına açılan ilk arkadaşların civanmertliğini, hasbîliğini, îsâr ruhlarını ifade ederken hep vurguluyorum:
They went with no expectations. Hiçbir beklentiye takılmadan gittiler.
Because doing things in expectation of something in return has never been permanent. Zira belli beklentilere takılarak yapılan işler, hiçbir zaman kalıcı olmamıştır.
The people who do things for benefit based their own ends are always defeated. Yapacağı işleri bir menfaate bağlı götüren insanlar, sonunda hezimetle karşı karşıya kalmışlardır.
As a result of their being volunteers and having no expectations in return, they do not have any worldly property and assets, those who were first to go.
Like a friend of God they say, 'I desire nothing in this realm.' Hak dostunun dediği gibi, "Dû cihandan el yudum / Hânümânım kalmadı" deyip gittiler.
But I wonder, was that enough? Ama acaba bu yeterli miydi?
Could they have shown a greater spirit of altruism?
For example, they could have asked the people in the places they migrated to: 'Do you have any problems?
Let us solve those problems, these issues.' Could this have been said? O derdinizi, o sıkıntınızı biz görelim" falan denebilir miydi?
I know for example that they were working eight to ten hours for sure; I wonder, couldn't we have made that sixteen hours? Mesela ben biliyorum ki, mutlaka sekiz-on saat mesai yapıyorlardı; acaba o mesâîyi biz on altı saat yapsaydık, olmaz mıydı?
In order to efficiently make the most of the opportunities we have been given couldn't we have worked eighteen hours a day? Elimizdeki bu fırsatları rantabl değerlendirme adına on sekiz saat olmaz mıydı?
That's enough, for six hours I can sit at home with my family and rest.
But even if it can't be eighteen hours, let it be sixteen hours. Ama on sekiz olmasa bile, on altı saat olsun canım.
Of course we sleep four to five hours, the other hours we are busy with the kids, we eat etc. Dört beş saat tabii uyku uyuyoruz, diğer vakitlerde çocuklar ile meşgul oluyoruz, yemek yiyoruz falan.
I wonder if it is due to the fact that we didn't spend most of our time on that task that we are now experiencing these calamities.
Firstly, we have to look at the matter from this perspective. Bir, meseleye böyle bizler açısından bakmamız lazım.
If the service to be done is on a divine path such as this, then we should behave like the noble Abu Bakr, Umar, Uthman, Ali.
That great Caliph, most of the time he slept on sand in the Prophet's Mosque. O koca halife, Mescid-i Nebevî'de, kumlar üzerinde yatıyordu.
Our noble master Uthman... Hazreti Osman efendimiz.
A very wealthy individual from the Banu Umayya...
He was very wealthy however when he became caliph, he would sleep at the Mosque of the Prophet on a sand mattress with a sand pillow; people would come and say, 'O leader of the believers' and express their concerns there. Çok zengindi fakat halife olduğu zaman, Mescid-i Nebevî'de kumdan yastık, kumdan döşek, orada yatıyordu; gelen "Yâ Emire'l-Mü'minîn" diyor, orada halini arz ediyordu.
Make a comparison; with the Saddams, the Gaddafis, the Hitlers and whoever else.
They were as I described, and the ones I mentioned are as you know. Onlar öyle idi, bahsettiklerim de böyle.
They never had any worldly expectations; they never thought to do something worldly for themselves.
Hence God gave them success. Dolasıyla Cenâb-ı Hak da onları muvaffak kıldı.
Now, there is benefit in looking at the current events from our perspective.
Otherwise, as long as we search for fault in external factors, we will be committing a crime without realising it for our whole lives. Yoksa suçu dışarıda aradığımız sürece, ömür boyu farkına varmadan hep suç işlemiş oluruz.
If we don't hit ourselves on the floor like the tanners hit their leather, we will begin to hit others on the floor instead. Kendimizi bir debbağın deriyi yerden yere vurması gibi -Cuma günü arz etmiştim- vurmaz isek şayet, başkalarını, debbağın deriyi yerden yere vurduğu gibi vurmaya başlarız.
You know how some of them do that. Öyle yapıyorlar ya hani bazıları.
Opportunists... Açıkgözler.
They are beating others with the aim of attributing their crimes, offences, and atrocities to others. Suçlarını, cürümlerini, mesâvîlerini başkalarına atfetmek suretiyle onları yerden yere vuruyorlar.
If you do not beat up something that should be beaten, you will be the ones being beaten, without even realising. Yerden yere vurulması gereken şeyi yerden yere vurmazsanız, hiç farkına varmadan, yerden yere vurulursunuz.
Yes, we should look at ourselves like this: Evet, kendimizi yerden yere vuralım:
I wonder what else could have been done. Acaba daha neler yapılabilirdi?
I wonder if we didn't do this certain thing. Acaba yapmadık mı bunu?
That is why we should say, 'I am repenting and begging forgiveness from God, a thousand, a million times'. Bunun için, "Günahlarımdan tevbe ve nedamet edip Allah'tan binlerce, milyonlarca defa bağışlamasını diliyorum" diyelim.
'My God! "Allah'ım.
Give us the opportunities once again and enable us to utilise these efficiently. Yeniden bize o imkanları lütfeyle ve bizi -aynı zamanda- onları rantabl değerlendirmeye muvaffak kıl" diyelim.
We should genuinely open up to Almighty God. Samimi olarak, içimizi Cenâb-ı Hakk'a dökelim.
We absolutely believe that the Almighty God will give us an affirmative answer for these wishes and requests.
'Pray to Me, (and) I will answer you' (Al-Mu'min, 40:60). "İsteyin, dua edin, icâbet edeyim" (Mü'min, 40:60) buyuruyor.
Will there be the breaking of the promise with God? Definitely not! Hâşâ ve kellâ, Allah'ta hulfu'l-vaad olur mu?
He promises. Vaad ediyor.
'Remember My favour that I bestowed upon you, and fulfill My covenant (which I made with you through your Prophets), so that I fulfill your covenant' (Al-Baqarah, 2:40). "Sözünüzü yerine getirin, Ben de mukabelede bulunayım, aynı şekilde mukabelede bulunayım" (Bakara, 2:40) diyor.
One other matter; for all things positive that have happened up till now, Satan has always initiated his minions; he has said something like, 'Ready, set, attack!'. Diğer bir husus; şimdiye kadar olumlu/pozitif şeyler karşısında, şeytan, kendi avenesini her zaman harekete geçirmiş; "Hazır ol, rahat, hücum" falan demiştir.
This has happened in all eras. Her dönemde öyle olmuş.
Who hasn't it happened to? Ee kime olmamış ki?
It happened to Prophet Noah, it has happened to someone like Prophet Abraham, who had a heart full of compassion, to Prophet Hud, to Salih, to Lot, to Moses, and to Jesus; it has happened to all the great Messengers. Hazreti Nuh'a olmuş, Hazreti İbrahim gibi kalbi hep şefkat ile çarpıp duran bir insana olmuş, Hazreti Hûd'a olmuş, Hazreti Sâlih'e olmuş, Hazreti Lût'a olmuş, Hazreti Musa'ya olmuş, Hazreti İsâ'ya olmuş; bütün enbiyâ-ı ızâma (alâ seyyidinâ ve aleyhimüssalâtü vesselam) olmuş.
Let me explain it using the expression of Ibrahim Haqqi of Erzurum: İbrahim Hakkı hazretlerinin ifadeleriyle diyeyim:
'One is Adam, one Noah, Hud and Salih, "Biri Âdem, biri İdrîs ü Nûh ü Hûd ile Sàlih,
With Abraham, Isaac and Ishmael the sacrifice of God, Hem İbrâhim ü İshàk ile İsmâil zebîhullah.
Also Jacob, Joseph, Shuayb, Lot and John, Dahi Yakub ile Yûsuf, Şuayb ü Lût ile Yahya;
Zachariah and Aaron, Moses whom spoke to God, Zekeriyyâ ile Hârûn, ah-i Mûsâ kelîmullah.
and David, Solomon and Elias and Job, Ve Dâvud u Süleymân ve dahi İlyâs u Eyyûb'dur,
One is Elisha, and the other is Jesus, the Spirit breathed by God. Birisi Elyesa'dır, dahi İsâ'dır o rûhullah.
One is Dhulkifl, the other is Jonah.
And the final one is Prophet Muhammad, the Beloved of God. Hitâmı ol habîb-i Hak Muhammed'dir Rasûlullah.
There is no consensus on Ezra, Luqman, and Dhul-Qarnayn, Uzeyr ü, Lokmân u Zül-karneyn'de ihtilâf olmuş,
for some believe that they are Prophets; others think that they are saints.
Prophet Adam was the first of all the Prophets. Cemî-i enbiyânın evvelidir Hazret-i Âdem;
But at the end, Muhammad, the Beloved of God, is the most blessed for all.' Kamudan efdal u âhir Muhammed'dir Habîbullah."
Which one hasn't experienced such troubles? Hangisinin başına gelmemiş ki bunlar?
Just as the Prophets struggled, so did the great saints and representatives of all that the Prophets stood for.
Ibn Bashish spent his life all alone in a cave. İbn Beşîş, tek başına hayatını mağarada geçirmiş.
Shah al-Jilani suffered everything you can possibly imagine. Şâh-ı Geylânî hazretlerinin çekmediği şey kalmamış.
Imam Rabbani was thrown into dungeons. İmam Rabbânî hazretleri, zindanlara düşmüş.
Mawlana Khalid went through various afflictions. Mevlânâ Halid, değişik şeylere maruz kalmış.
And the most recent example is of Bediüzzaman, who said, 'There has not been a single act of cruelty and injustice that I have not been subject to over the past twenty three years.' İşte son, en canlı misali, Hazreti Pîr-i Mugân, "Yirmi sekiz sene çekmediğim cefa, görmediğim eza kalmadı" falan diyor.
Just as these great saints and scholars have suffered all there is to suffer, so have the righteous people who followed them. Asliyet planında, esas, Allah ile münasebeti temsil eden insanlar, akla hayale gelmedik şeylere maruz kaldıkları gibi, aynı zamanda zılliyet planında, izafî manada onların yolunda yürüyen insanlar da aynı şeylere maruz kalmışlar.
Here, another note: Ha, bir yönüyle burada antrparantez arz edeyim:
If you are being tortured in similar ways by Satan's assistants, you can be assured that you are walking on the right path. Eğer şeytanın avenesi tarafından böyle bu türlü şeylere maruz kalıyorsanız, doğru yolda yürüdüğünüze inanabilirsiniz.
And so, make your choice. O zaman tercihinizi yapın.
Do you want to be of those who walk on the right path towards God Almighty, in the footsteps of the Glorious Messenger; or would you rather attain temporary worldly gains by being a lackey to some tyrants? Doğru yolda, Allah'a doğru yürümek mi, Hazreti Rasûl-i Zîşân'ın ayaklarının altına başınızı koymaya doğru yürümek mi; yoksa dünyada birilerine yalakalık yapıp bazı şeyler elde etmek mi?
Forgive me; I may have offended some with my expressions. Özür dilerim, "yalakalık" tabirini kullandım.
Was this too vulgar? Argoca mı bu?
Anyway, I hope that you can forgive this much. Neyse canım, bu kadarını da affedersiniz herhalde.
What I mean is, would you rather be of those who opposed the great Messengers, who are also opposing you today, who are torturing you, killing you, causing you to drown in rivers—just as they have for centuries—would you rather walk on such a path; or would you rather put up with such struggles, but still remain on the way of the Prophets? Şimdi, eğer enbiyâ-ı ızâma karşı çıkan kimseler, günümüzde de size karşı çıkıyor, size işkence ediyor, size eziyet ediyor, sizi öldürüyor, nehirlerde boğulmanıza sebebiyet veriyorsa -hep yapmışlar, aynı şeyleri yapmışlar- böylelerinin yolunda yürümek mi; yoksa bazı şeyleri çekmeye rağmen, peygamberlerin yolunda olmak mı?
Yes, you must consider this as a sign of you walking on the right path. Evet, bunu, doğru bir yolda yürümenizin emaresi saymalısınız.
That's what it is; there's no doubt, you should believe in this with certainty, with the Will of God, in every age, the oppressors have attacked those on the path of God and chased them like bandits, in the same way the followers of Satan are doing the same oppressing today to those in the path of God, torturing them, defaming them and putting up barriers in their way.
But the thing for you to do, I apologise for using an inappropriate term, is to continue in the right path you walk on in a way that drives them crazy. Ama size düşen şey -özür dilerim, yine bir tane uygun olmayan kelime kullanacağım- onları çatlatasıya yürüdüğünüz doğru yolda yürümektir.
You must keep walking, without stopping. Yürümelisiniz hiç durmadan.
The more you walk, the more they will be enraged; and maybe one day they will be absolutely crazed because of their envy.
'I have not seen an oppressor who so appeared in the form of one being oppressed as I did of one who was full of envy.' "Ben, hased edenden daha ziyade mazluma benzeyen bir zâlim görmedim."
A person, who envies; an oppressor, who looks like the oppressed... Hased eden, mazluma benzeyen bir zâlim.
For example, our noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, warned people against envy, when he said, 'Stay away from envy. Peygamber Efendimiz (sallallâhu aleyhi ve sellem) bir hadis-i şeriflerinde, "Haset etmekten sakının.
For envy eats up goodness just as fires eat up the wood', he states.
Bediüzzaman states that 'Envy consumes and destroys the envious, Hazreti Pîr de, "Hased evvelâ hâsidi ezer, mahveder, yandırır.
while leaving the one envied untouched (or largely untouched).'
'I have not seen an oppressor who so appeared in the form of one being oppressed as I did of one who was full of envy.'
Consequently, those who possess envy, intolerance and jealousy will be crazed. Dolayısıyla o hasetten, o çekememezlikten, o hazımsızlıktan dolayı belki çatlayacaklar.
I would like to add another note: Fakat burada yine antrparantez arz edeyim:
I do not want anyone to go crazy; why should they be enraged and go crazy?
God has created us in the best of stature; let him turn back, look at himself through a lens and read his actions and say; 'God has created me to be a mirror for Him'.
'Whatever exists in the universe is a mirror and subsists by Him; "Bir âyinedir bu âlem, her şey Hak ile kâim
It is God Who is constantly reflected in the mirror of Muhammad.' Mir'ât-ı Muhammed'den, Allah görünür, dâim."
This belongs to the noble Aziz Mahmud; Bu, Aziz Mahmud hazretlerine ait;
May God the Mighty and Majestic allow them to see that they also act as mirrors of God. Allah (celle celâluhu) onların da birer ayna olduğunu kendilerine göstersin.
And may they take steps to make appropriate use of their position and their agency. May they act as the best form of creation that they have been blessed with as humans, may they be servants of God and enter the path towards Paradise.
