Woe to Those Oppressors!

‘O God! Enable us to live Islam in such a manner that we remain innocent and protected without any lapses and stumbling.’ “Allah’ım! Bize öyle bir İslamiyet lütfet ki, sonra, kaymadan, sürçmeden hep mâsum ve masûn kalalım.”
Nothing should cause us to stumble, nothing should cause us lapse, to waylay us. Hiçbir şey bizi kaydırmasın, hiçbir şey sürçtürmesin; takılıp yollarda kalmayalım.
The journey towards God must be followed till the end; it is a precious path to walk on.
You may walk half of this path in the best manner, but when you then stumble somewhere along the way you will lose everything. Yarısına kadar yürürsünüz hakkını vererek; fakat bir yerde sürçtüğünüz zaman, her şeyi kaybetmiş olursunuz.
That is why the Master of Speech states, ‘The believer’s heart is held by two fingers of God’s hand. He changes it and shapes it as He wills’. Onun için beyan Sultanı, “Kalbler, beyne isba’ayni min esâbi’ı’r-Rahmân’dır, onu istediği gibi evirir çevirir” buyuruyor.
The heart is subject to transformation by God. Kalb, Cenâb-ı Hakk’ın elinde, evrilip çevrilen bir unsurdur.
A spiritual faculty that senses God directly. Latife-i Rabbâniye.
Hence, God’s Messenger, peace and blessings be upon him, recited the following prayer constantly: ‘O Transformer of the hearts! Onun için, Allah Rasûlü (sallallâhu aleyhi ve sellem) “Ey kalbleri evirip çeviren Allah’ım.
Bind my heart firmly on Your religion.’ Benim kalbimi dininde sâbit kıl” diye dua ediyor devamlı.
At every stage of this journey, in every season of life, one should say, ‘My God! Yolun her faslında, hayatın her mevsiminde, “Allah’ım.
Make our hearts steadfast in this important regard.’ Kalbimizi, sâbit olması gerekli olan hususta, sâbit kıl” demeli.
During times of hardship and tribulations, at times when people cannot tolerate these hardships, some people may experience some upheaval. Hususî bela ve musibetlerin birer çağlayan haline geldiği, insanların tahammül gücünü aştığı dönemlerde, insanlar, bir kısım sarsıntılar yaşayabilirler.
But this is how it has always been.
I’m going to repeat a phrase that is often mentioned, even though I’m aware that it makes you uncomfortable: Çok tekerrür eden bir ifadeyi, sizi rahatsız ettiğini bilerek bir kere daha tekrar edeceğim:
‘In the continuous cycle of historical recurrences, events have taken place on similar terms and this has never changed.’ “Tarihî tekerrürler devr-i dâimi içinde hadiseler -ayniyete yakın misliyet ölçüsünde- hep aynen cereyan edegelmiştir, hiç değişmemiştir” değişmemiştir:
There is no Prophet that did not weep and groan and there is no oppressor who was not destroyed.
In one way it is a matter time, of a Prophet coming to a point when he needs to declare his feelings and the oppression faced to reach the Honour of God before an oppressor is destroyed.
At that point, when God decides that all the troubles endured will turn into pleasures.
We read from Imam al-Ghazali about the early scholars’ perspective of this world. Hazreti Gazzalî’den selefin dünyaya bakışını okuduk.
His views on this world from a worldly perspective were the topic of our discussion in today’s class. Hazret’in dünyaya, dünya cihetiyle bakışı açısından mütalaaları sabah dersinin mevzuu olmuştu; o derse iştirak edenler, gördüler.
He placed more emphasis on following perspective of the world: O, daha ziyade dünyanın şu yönünü mevzu yapmış:
‘This world is a dump; those who pursue it are no different than dogs.’ People who chase after ‘palaces, authority and political power’ are people who worship this world. “Dünya, bir pislik yığınıdır; onun arkasından koşturanlar da kelplerden başkası değildir.” “Sarayım, saltanatım, iktidarım, hâkimiyetim” diye o çöplüğe koşan insanlar, dünyaya tapan insanlardır.
But there is also a beautiful aspect of the world as well; and I haven’t seen anyone other than the sage Bediüzzaman mentions it.
But it most definitely would have been touched upon by others; as he is a renewer walking the great path of the Righteous Predecessors. Fakat farklı mülahazalarla mutlaka temas edilmiştir; çünkü o selef-i sâlihînin cadde-i kübrâsında, her meseleyi yeniden bize ter ü taze gösteren bir müceddiddir.
He says, ‘The world is an arable field to sow for the Hereafter.’ O, “âhiretin mezraası olması” yönüyle de dünyayı anlatır.
With their deeds and efforts, humankind sows seeds in this world, harvesting them in the next.
Yes, in this world humankind sow seeds for harvest in the next.
Your efforts and deeds are coupled with hardships here.
What sort of hardship? Nereden nereye kadar?
From performing the Pilgrimage to praying five times a day, from spending a portion of your wealth in the path of God to performing ablution under difficult conditions, as mentioned in the tradition, ‘Despite all the difficulty and hardship perform ablution with perfection’.
For instance, at times when performing ablution is undesirable, when there is no water or when the water is extremely cold, just like in winter, saying, ‘Regardless of the circumstances, my ablution needs to be perfect.’ Mesela, abdestin, abdest almanın nahoş geldiği, suyun olmadığı veya olduğu zaman sopsoğuk olduğu kış mevsiminde “Ama her şeye rağmen tastamam olması lazım abdestin” falan deyip tastamam alma.
These are laborious tasks; they are deeds that require effort; but at the same time they will result in fruits.  Bütün bunlar, birer meşakkattir; ameldir ve emektir aynı zamanda; fakat öbür tarafta, semere verecek şeylerdir.
Yes, just like this you may compare all other matters.
This world is an arable field, and the next world is the time for harvesting the rewards.
And sometimes you will reap rewards in this world.  Bazen dünyada da onun semeresini biçebilirsiniz.
Individuals will come and initiate something, this is the act of sowing seeds; those who succeed them will water those seeds; and then others will nurture and fertilise them.  Birileri bir şey yapar, başlatır, tohum saçar; arkadan gelen birileri ona su verir; birileri, hava ile temasını temin eder onun.
And then some will harvest them and store them.
At times, in this world, it is also possible that the seeds are harvested and stored.
But the real product will be collected and gathered in the next world. Fakat asıl ürünün derilmesi/toplanması, öbür âlemdedir.
This is why it is said that ‘The world is an arable field to sow for the Hereafter.’
From another perspective, all the beauty that exists in this world is from God; whatever that may seem beautiful, every beautiful thing in this world is a mirror reflecting the beauty of God.
From this perspective, the world is a beautiful place.  Bu yönüyle de dünya güzeldir.
Yes, sometimes humankind may not be able to observe the results of their efforts and deeds in this world.  Evet, bazen insan, burada yaptığı şeylerin, emeğin ve amelin karşılığını göremeyebilir.
There's a saying: Bir söz var:
‘Plant a seed and leave; never mind who will harvest it.’ “Sen tohum at, git; kim hasat ederse etsin.”
It will be recorded in your book of deeds. Senin defter-i hasenatına kaydedilir onlar.
You won’t witness its sprouting, ripening, collection or storage in warehouses.
But in the Hereafter, they will say: Fakat öbür tarafa gittiğinde, sana derler ki:
‘You scattered these seeds; it will be part of your book of deeds as much as those of the harvester. “Bu tohumları sen saçmış idin; biçen kadar senin de defter-i hasenâtına.
It will be recorded in your book of deeds as much as those who transported it. Ambara koyan kadar senin de defter-i hasenâtına.
It will be recorded in your book of deeds as much as your efforts. Emeğin kadar senin de defter-i hasenâtına.”
It will be completely recorded in your book of deeds. Tamamiyetiyle senin de defter-i hasenâtına konur.
In this respect, if you look at such suffering by its results, in a way, all of it transforms into anecdotes.
And if we backtrack to the words of Bediüzzaman, these deep sufferings will become incidents people explain with pleasure on comfortable seats. Ve yine Hazret’in ifadesine meseleyi ircâ ederek ifade edecek olursak, bu acılar, bu zehir zemberek şeyler, orada insanların değişik koltuklarda zevkle anlatacağı hadiselere dönüşür.
Not like the seat I am in, beautiful seats that move and turn, seats that change and move when the thought passes through your mind. You will share these anecdotes with friends.
When you say, ‘My friend from the other day, my friend from yesterday, my friend from today; I desire to meet them’, you shall instantly find them before you. “Evvelki günkü dostum, dünkü dostum, bugünkü dostum; onlarla karşılaşmak istiyoruz” dediğinizde, karşınızda hemen anında bulursunuz.
You will see that the suffering you have endured in the world become sweet anecdotes that you can discuss with each other.
Everything that happened here will be forgotten, so to speak. Âdeta burada olup biten o şeylerin hepsi unutulmuş gitmiş olur.
One might say, ‘Was there such a thing?’ The other will reply, ‘Never mind.’
Just like He mentions in the Qur’an, ‘(God) says: Hani Kur’an-ı Kerim’in ifade buyurduğu gibi; “Sonra Allah, der:
‘For how many years did you stay on earth?’ ‘Yeryüzünde yıl hesabıyla ne kadar kaldınız?’
They say: ‘We stayed for a day or part of a day.
Ask of those who are able to keep count of this’ (Al-Mu’minun 23:112-113).
‘Did we stay for a day or less than a day? “Yahu, bir gün mü kaldık, bir günden daha az mı kaldık?
We are not sure. Perhaps we should ask someone who knows.’
Eternity in comparison... Ebediyete nispeten.
If you stay on the earth for thousands of years, if you live as long as Prophet Noah or Prophet Adam, in comparison to the eternity of the Hereafter, living here is like a particle, like a drop in the ocean.
You will laugh and say, ‘Lord, O Lord! Gülersiniz ona; “Allah Allah.
What have we been chasing?’ Neyin arkasından koşmuşuz” dersiniz.
One must observe things that happen to them in this way.
In the end, we are emotional beings; there are things that hurt us, however, when one takes into account the eventual fruits such situations can yield, they can be perceived in better light.  Vakıa insanız nihayet; canımızı yakan şeyler vardır, bir insan olarak; fakat onun neticesini, encamını, vereceği semereyi nazar-ı itibara alarak, onu tatlılaştırma yolu da vardır.
Look at the great Messengers: Enbiyâ-ı ızâma bakın:
In one instance, it is said definitely:  Bir yerde mutlak manada deniyor:
‘Or do you think that you will enter Paradise while such trial has not yet come to you as came to those who passed on before you? “Yoksa siz, daha önce geçmiş ümmetlerin başlarına gelen durumlara mâruz kalmadan Cennet’e gireceğinizi mi sandınız?
They were touched by poverty and hardship and were shaken until even their messenger and those who believed in him said, “Where is the help of Allah?”  Evet, onlar öyle ezici mihnetlere, zorluklara dûçâr oldular ve öyle şiddetle sarsıldılar ki, Peygamber ve yanındakiler, ‘Allah’ın vaad ettiği yardım ne zaman yetişecek?’ diyecek hale geldiler.
Know that the help of God is surely near!’ (Al-Baqarah, 2:214). İyi bilin ki Allah’ın yardımı yakındır” (Bakara, 2:214).
Do you suppose that you will enter Paradise untouched by the suffering endured by the people of faith who passed away before you?
They were so afflicted by misery and hardship that it had become intolerable even for the Prophets who knew the final outcome. They cried out: Onların başlarına öyle sağanak sağanak belalar yağdı, onlar öyle belalara maruz kaldılar ki, peygamber.
‘O God, when will we be victorious?’  Nusretin ne zaman?” dediler.
This, in a general sense, is part of the exploits seen in the Prophets’ lives.
I did not hear anything about Prophet Adam in this regard, however, he did suffer, especially in relation to his children, the legend of Faust and Mephisto began with them.
Prophet Noah, upon him be peace, on the other hand, faced so many tribulations that at last he said, ‘Lord, I have been defeated, please help!’
He used all the arguments that he could, especially as described in his story: ‘I spoke explicitly, I spoke implicitly.  Kullanabileceği bütün argümanları kullanmıştı; özellikle Nuh sûre-i celîlesinde anlatıldığı üzere, “Açık dedim, kapalı dedim.
I spoke to groups, spoke one at a time. Topladım dedim, teker teker dedim.
I went door to door, I knocked on doors. Kapı kapı dolaştım, dedim; tokmaklarına dokundum, dedim.
I called to them in so many different times and places and each time I faced different things.’ Prophet Noah relates his feelings to his Lord.  Topluluklarıyla karşılaştım, söyledim; evlerine gittim, dedim ve her defasında değişik şeylere maruz kaldım” bunları dillendirerek Rabbine arz-ı halinde bulunmuştu.
Now a Prophet... Şimdi bir peygamber.
He (upon him be peace) said, ‘Lord, I have been defeated, please help me!’
My God.  Allah’ım.
I have been defeated. Artık yenik düştüm.
Grant Your victory in such a way that it should be in harmony with my being, because in it there is submission. Let it be such a victory that I can say, ‘This is the one’; let me able to say, ‘Indeed, they call me victorious, the helper’.
When the situation had come to such a degree. Mesele o kerteye gelince.
‘So he invoked his Lord, "Indeed, I am overpowered, so help’ (Al-Qamar, 54:10). “Bunun üzerine Rabbine, ‘Ben yenik düştüm, bana yardım et.’ diyerek yalvardı” (Kamer, 54:10).
‘Then We (in acceptance of his prayer) opened the gates of the heaven with rain pouring down. “Biz de (duasını kabul buyurup), göğün kapılarını açtık da sular boşalmaya durdu.
And caused the earth to burst with springs, and the waters met for a matter already predestined. Yeri de göz göz yarıp, suları fışkırttık.
Finally, the springs that burst from earth and were emptied from the skies rose for a purpose pre-ordained’ (Al-Qamar, 54:11-12).  Nihayet, (gökten boşalan, yerden fışkıran) sular, takdir buyurulan işin yerine gelmesi için yükselmesi gereken noktaya kadar yükseldi” (Kamer, 54:11-12).
The, we opened the doors of earth and the skies on trouble and calamity’s behalf; we sent rain down from the skies, and made springs gush from the earth, until everywhere was overwhelmed by water, those who did not believe drowned away.  Sonra yerlerin ve göklerin kapılarını bela ve musibet adına açtık; gökten yağmurlar indirdik; yerden sular fışkırttık, her taraf sulara gark oldu; inanmayan insanlar, boğuldu gitti.
And Noah boarded his ship and sailed towards a safe shore.  O (aleyhisselam) da sefinesine bindi, sâhil-i selâmete doğru yürüdü.
‘Noah said: “Nuh dedi ki:
“Board it!” Binin gemiye.
In God’s Name be its course and its mooring.
Surely my Lord is All-Forgiving, All-Compassionate (Hud, 11:41). If you were to look at the statement ‘In God’s Name be its course and its mooring’, it can be seen that he tread softly where he needed to go, with ease and no sense of boredom, God Almighty placed him and those around him on the safe shore. Gerçekten Rabbim Gafûr’dur, Rahîm’dir (affı, rahmet ve ihsanı pek boldur)” (Hûd, 11:41) ayetinde, “Bismillahi mecraha” beyanındaki imâleye bakacak olursanız, gayet yumuşakça, yürüyeceği yere yürüdü, hiç incinmeden, hiç sıkılmadan, o korkunç dalgalar sanki hiç yokmuş gibi Cenâb-ı Hak, onu ve beraberindekileri sâhil-i selâmete çıkardı.
At Mount Judi, the waves stabilised.  Cûdî’de, o dalgalar, emvâc-ı karardâde oldu.
And he, Prophet Noah, pitched his marquee there.  O (aleyhisselam) da gitti, orada otağını kurdu.
Another of the Prophets of Strong Will is Prophet Abraham. Bir başka Ulû’l-azim peygamber, Hazreti İbrahim (aleyhisselam).
The following section does not appear in the Qur’an.  Şu kısım, Kur’an-ı Kerim’de ifade edilmiyor:
Angel Gabriel, peace be upon him, asks: ‘God Almighty sends his salutation to you; they plan to throw you in the fire, what can I do?’ Prophet Abraham responds: ‘If He, may He be glorified and exalted, is aware of my condition, ‘He is sufficient for me, and He is the best Disposer of Affairs’.
On top of that, ‘We decreed to the fire: Bunun üzerine, “Biz ateşe şöyle ferman ettik:
Do not touch Abraham. Dokunma İbrâhim’e.
Be cool and safe to him’ (Al-Anbiya, 21:69) says God Almighty. Serin ve selâmet ol ona” (Enbiyâ, 21:69) buyuruyor Cenâb-ı Hak.
Years later, seasons after, and chapters later, Abu Bakr inspired by this event says: Yıllar sonra, mevsimler sonra, fasıllar sonra, seyyidinâ Hazreti Ebu Bekir bundan mülhem şöyle niyaz ediyor:
‘O my Lord! “Yâ Rabbî.
Command the fire to be cool and safe for me just as you ordered the fire to be cool and safe for Abraham.
O my Lord! Ey Allah’ım.
Just as you ordered Prophet Abraham’s fire to be cool and safe, order the fire that will touch Abu Bakr to be cool and safe.   Hazreti İbrahim’in ateşine “Hazreti Halîl hakkında ‘Ey ateş, serin ve selâmet ol.’” dediğin gibi, Ebu Bekir’i yakacak ateşe de “Ebu Bekir hakkında ‘Ey ateş, serin ve selâmet ol.’” de.
Yes, the fire became cool and safe.  Evet, ateş, berd ü selâm oldu.
Once again this is like saying, ‘My God! İşte bu da yine “Allah’ım.
When is Your victory? Nusretin ne zaman?” demek gibi.
It is like saying, ‘My Lord, I am defeated, please help me’. “Rabbim, ben mağlup oldum, ne olur bana yardım et” demek gibi bir şey.
Prophet Ibrahim comes to a certain point and reaches safety, whereas Nimrod finds the calamity that he deserved via a very small cause.
Some people say a fly; it could have been a fly or a virus like AIDS. The thought of destruction never crossing his mind, Nimrod was knocked to the floor. “Sinek” diyorlar; sinek de olabilir, bir başka çağın nemrudunda olduğu gibi bir virüs de olabilir, bir AIDS virüsü de olabilir; musallat olur, yere serileceğini aklının köşesinden bile geçirmeyen o Nemrut, bir de bakarsınız, birden bire yere serilivermiş.
This is a rule: the repetition of similar events in history. Tarihi tekerrürler devr-i dâimi içinde değişmiyor bu.
A time comes and ’When the two hosts came in view of each other, the companions of Moses said: “We are certainly overtaken!”’ (Ash-Shuara, 26:61). Bir zaman geliyor, “İki topluluk birbirlerini görecek mesafeye gelince, Musa’nın beraberindekiler, ‘Eyvah, yetiştiler, yakalandık.’ dediler” (Şuarâ, 26:61).
All apparent causes declined; the secret of the Divine Uniqueness manifested in the pure light of the Oneness and the Unity of God. Esbâb, bilkülliye sukût etmiş, nûr-i tevhîd içinde sırr-ı Ehadiyyet zuhur ediyor.
In a very different way, the phrase ‘My Lord, I am defeated, please help me’ is uttered there as well.
In this case, Prophet Moses tries to escape with the Children of Israel. Şimdi öyle ki, Hazreti Musa, yanına aldığı İsrailoğullarından bilmem şu kadar insanı kaçırmaya çalışıyor.
They then come face to face with the sea, an immense sea. Önlerine derya çıkıyor, öyle bir derya ki.
Remember what Tariq bin Ziyad said to his army when he was crossing to Andalusia: Tarık İbn Ziyâd’ın Endülüs’e geçtiği zaman, söylediği aynı şeyi hatırlayın:
‘There is an army like a sea in front of you and a sea like an army behind you. “Önünüzde derya gibi bir ordu var; arkanızda da ordu gibi bir derya var.
You will either turn back to drown or you will fight in the sea that is in front of you and be killed, to be raised to the highest of the high of the human perfection.’ Ya geriye dönüp kaçacak/boğulacaksınız veya o deryaya çarpıp işte orada öleceksiniz, a’lâ-ı illiyyîn-i kemâlâta yükseleceksiniz.”
While the Children of Israel doubted, Prophet Moses said: İsrailoğulları tereddüt yaşarken, Hazreti Musa, “Dedi ki:
‘Certainly not. Hayır, asla.
My Lord is surely with me; He will guide me (to deliverance).’ (Ash-Shuara, 26:81).
I have something besides the point to add to this; I will say it later, if I don’t forget. Burada antrparantez bir şey ifade edilebilir; unutmazsam, arz ederim.
My Lord is with me. Rabbim, benim ile beraberdir.
He will definitely show me a path of rescue. Mutlaka bir yol gösterecektir.
Where did he say this? Nerede diyor?
He said while facing a deep sea ready to drown them, and an enormous army behind them which if they turned to face, the Pharaoh is ready to seize and overpower them.
At a place like this, without any doubt, with Prophetic submission, reliance, commitment and confidence in God or in the horizons of the satisfied soul’, the perfected soul, the pure soul, Moses says: Böyle bir yerde, tereddüt etmeden, bir Peygamber tevekkülü, teslimi, tefvîzi, sikası içinde veya “nefs-i mutmainne”, “nefs-i zâkiye”, “nefs-i sâfiye” ruhu içinde.
‘My Lord is with me and certainly He will show me the way to rescue. “Rabbim benimledir ve O muhakkak ki bana kurtuluş yolunu gösterecektir” diyor.
And he says this with a belief in the near future:  Hem de “Sin-i istikbal” ile diyor:
It may not seem like this will happen now but if He told us to ‘leave and go’, it means that this will happen very soon. Şu anda öyle görünmüyor ama O (celle celâluhu), bize “Çıkın, gidin buradan” dediğine göre, her halde, şimdi olmasa bile yakın bir zamanda.
The letter ‘sin’ used here refers to the near future. If the intended meaning was far off then other words what have been used.
He says, ‘In the very near future, my Lord will guide us’.
Then, God Almighty grants assistance and salvation. O zaman Cenâb-ı Hak nusret ve necat lütfediyor.
Again, there was no apparent means or causes.  Yine esbâb, bil-külliye sukût etmiş, bakın.
Consider the matter from Prophet Noah to Prophet Abraham; the words ‘God is sufficient for me, and He is the best Disposer of Affairs’ leads to safety and peace.  Hazreti Nuh’tan alın, Hazreti İbrahim’e meseleyi getirin; , “Allah, bana yeter; o ne güzel vekildir” berd ü selâma vesile oluyor.
He is commanded to strike the sea with his staff.  Orada da “Vur asânı deryaya” deniyor; derya iki şâk oluyor:
‘We revealed to Moses: “Strike the sea with your staff”’.  “Biz de Musa’ya, ‘Asânla denize vur.’ diye vahyettik.
‘Thereupon the sea split and each part became like a towering mountain (on either side of the path that formed like a corridor when the water split)’ (Ash-Shuara, 26:63) Musa vurur vurmaz deniz yarıldı ve sular, (koridor benzeri açılan yolun iki yanına) birer büyük dağ gibi yığıldı” (Şuarâ, 26:63).
Those waves soared high like mountains, and Prophet Moses and those with him crossed to the other side whilst the Pharaoh drowned.
Those who persecuted Prophet Noah drowned. The one who persecuted Prophet Abraham is defeated with something like a virus, as all Pharaohs and Nimrods are.  Hazreti Nuh’a eziyet edenler boğuluyor; Hazreti İbrahim’e eziyet eden insan bir yönüyle bir virüs ile yere seriliyor; bütün Firavunların yere serildiği, Nemrutların yere serildiği gibi.
I will mention something as an aside.  Antrparantez bir şey arz edeceğimi söylemiştim:
During the time of our noble Prophet, while hiding in the cave, all apparent causes had similarly dissipated. The secret of the Divine Uniqueness manifested in the pure light of the Oneness and the Unity of God. Efendimiz’in Sevr sultanlığında, yine esbâb bilkülliye sukût ediyor; nur-i tevhîd içinde sırr-ı Ehadiyyet zuhur ediyor.
Abu Bakr expresses his worry with the words: ‘If they leaned over to look inside, they would see us inside the cave!’ Hazreti Ebu Bekir, endişesini izhar ederken, “Eğilip baksalar, mağara içinde bizi göreceklerdi” diyor.
They have come this far in our pursuit; they won’t let it go now’.
But our noble Prophet’s words there are unique; he is drawing attention to something else.
‘Do not worry my friend. God is with us.’ “Tasalanma dostum.” “Allah bizimle beraberdir.”
He does not use the letters meaning ‘soon’ as mentioned above. He is not saying, ‘God will be with us very soon’ but he is saying, ‘Do not worry. God is with us’ without any hint of worry or concern and in full submission and reliance on God.  Se (Sin-i istikbal) yok; “Gelecekte, Allah bizimle beraber olacak, necat verecektir” değil. “(O, hiçbir endişeye kapılmadan, Allah’a tam bir teslimiyet ve tevekkül içinde) yanındaki arkadaşına, ‘Hiç tasalanma, Allah bizimle beraberdir.’ diyordu.
God allowed an inner peace and trust as mercy over the noble Prophet; supported him with invisible armies and debased the missions of those rejected him.  Allah, sekînesini (iç huzur ve güven kaynağı rahmetini) daima O’nun üzerinde tuttu; O’nu sizin görmediğiniz ordularla destekledi ve inkâr edenlerin davası ve düşüncelerini alçalttı.
On the other hand, God’s cause and His Word is great in and of itself.
‘God is the owner of dignity and eminence, and God is Exalted in Might, and Wise’ (At-Tawbah, 9:40).
God supports and endorses him with an extraordinary, unprecedented (invisible) army.
Army; what army? Kim; ordu kim?
Two pigeons, one spider.  İki tane güvercin, bir tane örümcek.
Yes, let me explain the matter further: Evet, burada bir espri ile meseleyi ifade edelim:
They came with all their anger and all their physical strength; God threw them out of the way with one spider and two pigeons; He showed His infinite power.  Onlar, bütün hışım ve bütün cesametleriyle gelip şuraya kadar dikilmişler; Allah, bir örümcekle, iki tane güvercinle onları bertaraf ediyor, savuruyor; Kendi Kudret-i nâmütenâhiyesini gösteriyor.
And there you see, once more: Ve orada da bir kere daha siz, şunu görüyorsunuz:
‘Lord, I've been defeated, please help me,’ nothing has changed in between.  “Rabbim, ben mağlup oldum, ne olur bana yardım et” değişen bir şey yok arada.
You see the same thing in Prophet Jesus. Aynı şeyi seyyidinâ Hazreti İsa’da da görürsünüz.
As you see with Prophet Moses, you will see the same with the Pride of Humanity.
From this perspective, regardless of the time, whenever all the apparent causes are declined, when the Pharaohs lose control, the secret of the Divine Uniqueness manifests in the pure light of the Oneness and the Unity of God. Bu açıdan da ne zaman olursa olsun, esbâb bilkülliye sukût ettiğinde, Firavunlar gemi azıya aldıklarında nûr-i tevhîd içinde sırr-ı Ehadiyyet zuhur ediyor.
The Pharaohs of yesterday:  Dünün Firavunları:
Shaddad, Shabur, Nimrod, Amenophis... Bir yerdeki Şeddâd’ı, Şâbur’u, Nemrud’u -Nümrûz” diyorlar, Nemrud’u- Amnofis’i.
Or Abu Jahl, Utba, Shayba, the Ibn Abu Muayt, who attacked our Prophet.
Whoever is the Nimrod of that time? Kim ise o dönemin Nemrutları?
It can also be the Hitler, Saddam or Gaddafi of those later eras. It can be other Pharaohs from other nations. Daha sonraki dönemlerin Hitler’i olabilir bu, Saddam’ı olabilir, Kazzâfî’si olabilir, başka ülkelerde başka firavunlar olabilir.
And they plague Muslims like bugs.
They will separate a mother from her child; a child, from his/her mother; a wife, from her husband; a husband, from his wife; they will make people experience various deprivations.  Anneyi, evladından ayırırlar; evladı, annesinden ayırırlar; karıyı, kocasından ayırırlar; kocayı, karısından ayırırlar; insanlara, çeşitli mahrumiyetler yaşatırlar.
However; Fakat
‘If, by accident, a stone hits a golden bowl, “Kazara bir sapan taşı, bir altın kâseye değse
The stone does not gain value, nor does the bowl become less valuable.’ Ne taşın kıymeti artar, ne kıymetten düşer kâse.”
The Pharaohs have thrown stones, at a golden bowl; the stone has not gained value, nor has the bowl become less valuable.
They will throw stones at that golden bowl till the Day of Judgment. Kıyamete kadar hep o kâseye taş atacaklardır.
They will call a person who is careful to not even step on an ant, a ‘terrorist’. Hiç olmayana, karıncaya basmayan insana “terörist” diyeceklerdir.
They will try to taint their reputation.  Karalamaya çalışacaklardır.
Just as they crush people themselves, they will want the whole of mankind to crush people.
They will spend loads of money in this cause.  Etek etek paralar dökeceklerdir.
They will make loads of promises.  Etekler dolusu vaatlerde bulunacaklardır:
‘Let us make roads’ they will say; ‘Let us make airports’ they will say; ‘Let us make docks for you’ they will say. “Yol yapalım” diyeceklerdir; “Hava meydanları yapalım” diyeceklerdir; “Size limanlar yapalım” diyeceklerdir.
‘So long as you hand them over to us’, they will say.
Without changing, these characters will continue as the repetition of similar events in history. Değişmeden, aynı karakter, hep devam edecek; tarihî tekerrürler devr-i dâimi içinde.
However those people who withstand all of this—like you—, when all apparent causes are declined, you will see that all of a sudden a mighty tornado will come and just like those trees that don’t have enough resilience, one by one the Nimrods, Shaddads, Saddams, Hitlers, they will all fall and you will cross the paths and rivers which seems impassable.
And you are going to overcome fires at the same time; when water floods around you will say: Ve aynı zamanda yakan ateşleri aşacaksınız; etrafı su bastığı zaman “Onun yüzüp gitmesi de, durması da Allah’ın adıyladır.
‘In God's Name be its course and its mooring. Surely my Lord is All-Forgiving, All-Compassionate’ (Hud, 11:41) and go on thanks to God’s consent and beneficence. Gerçekten Rabbim gafurdur, rahîmdir (affı, rahmet ve ihsanı pek boldur)” (Hûd, 11:41) fehvasınca, “Bismillah” diyecek, Allah’ın izni ve inayetiyle yürüyeceksiniz.
As the Pride of Humanity did, you will reach the safe harbour, and turn Yathrib into the centre of civilisation as Medina, after a short period of time, thanks to God’s consent and beneficence, the Prophetic name will bloom all over the world.
Because your intention had been to show the inherent beauty of the Most Beloved One. Çünkü niyetiniz sizin, o idi; o Güzeller Güzeli’ni bütün insanlığa kendi güzelliği ile gösterme idi.
Your cause was this: Derdiniz, davanız, o idi:
To have no assets or savings in this world. Dünyada bir dikili taşınız olmasın.
To think of no palaces, even in your dreams. Sarayı, rüyalarınızda bile görmeyin.
To think of no fleets, even in your dreams. Filoyu, rüyanızda bile görmeyin.
To think of no ruling, even in your dreams. Saltanatı, rüyanızda bile görmeyin.
But someday, let the majestic name of Muhammad fly on the highest of places just like a waving flag.
This was your cause. Bütün derdiniz-davanız, bu idi.
Let them mumble behind your back, let them say, ‘These people are terrorists and bandits’; let them say, ‘When these people get power, they will cause you big troubles’. Varsın, arkadan birileri mırıldanıp dursunlar; “Bunlar, terörist” desinler, “Bunlar, eşkıya” desinler, “Güçlendikleri zaman, başınıza dert açacaklar bunlar” desinler.
All these mumblings and growlings will stay put as they are; God will change your intentions and the majestic name of Muhammad will permeate everywhere on which the sun rises and sets. Bu mırıltıların, bu hırıltıların hepsi, olduğu yerde kalacak; Allah, sizin niyetlerinizi gerçekleştirecek, nâm-ı celîl-i Muhammedî, güneşin üzerine doğup-battığı her şeye ulaşacak, her yere ulaşacak.
Your purpose is that too, and God will have fulfilled it. Sizin muradınız da odur; Allah, onu gerçekleştirmiş olacaktır.
‘My Lord. “Allah’ım.
Bestow us with so many graces; raise us to the rank of benevolence, so that we can think according to the most truthful and righteous, so that we can plan more beneficial things, so that we can be bounded by good deeds and so that we can be meticulous in our servanthood to You.  Bizlere ekstra lütuflarda bulun ve bizleri ‘ihsan’ pâyesine erdir; erdir ki, hak ölçülerine göre iyi düşünebilelim, iyi şeyler planlayabilelim, iyi işlere mukayyet kalabilelim ve kullukla alâkalı bütün davranışlarımızı, Sen’in teftişine arz etme şuuruyla, fevkalâde bir titizlik içinde olabilelim.
Let this grace be such that it attracts us only to You.’ Almighty God will answer this prayer of yours and grant you such a perfect benevolence that you will be indifferent from the support and popularity of others, thanks to God’s consent and beneficence.
As it has always occurred in this way, it will continue in the same way.
You should be thankful of your current situation that you are walking on the path of Prophets. Siz, hâlinize şükredin ki, peygamberlerin yolunda yürüyorsunuz.
However; Ama;
‘This road is long, “Bu yol, uzaktır
It has many stations, Menzili, çoktur
With no gateways, Geçidi, yoktur
It leads to deep waters.’ Derin sular var.”
‘O beloved, split my heart; “Yâr, yüreğim yar
See all things in it, Gör ki neler var
Amongst the people Bu halk içinde
There are those smiling at us.’ Bize gülen var.”
Yunus Emre (Yunus Emre)
They say, ‘You are each a fool. “Sizler birer aptalsınız.
For running after and following the one that left the world behind, for the one who attained things far above and beyond the deepest depths of imagination,’ and laughed at you.
‘O beloved, split my heart; “Yâr yüreğim, yar
See all things in it, Gör ki neler var
Amongst the people Bu halk içinde
There are those smiling at us.’ Bize gülen var.”
O God! Whatever state we are in, it is all apparent to You; our wish, supplication, is only the expression of our forlorn tongues. Allah’ım, ne halimiz varsa, hepsi Sana ayan; dileğimiz, duamız, perişan dillerden sadece birer beyan.
But God Almighty will make those expressions acceptable in His sight; you will be honoured by God Almighty with a favour far beyond your expectations.
We said, ‘the repetition of similar events in history’. “Tarihî tekerrürler devr-i dâimi” dedik.
Events take place not in accordance to ‘sameness’ but according to ‘similarities’.
Because according to each era, the circumstances and conjecture, there will be factors that change this. Çünkü zamanın, şartların, konjonktürün girdileri olur, katkıları olur orada.
Therefore, it will always be like life is being woven like a lace; but when you look at it, you realise that time is putting its own color into this lace.
For this reason it will be different during the time of Prophet Noah; it will be slightly different in the era of Prophet Abraham. Onun için Hazreti Nuh döneminde, farklı olur; Hazreti İbrahim döneminde biraz farklı olur.
It will vary; but it will be such a difference that it will take place in a way ‘so similar as to be almost identical.’
When you look at it, those who are engaged in disbelief, hypocrisy are doing the same things; they are oppressing, they are wronging, they are depriving people, they are firing people, purging people, touching their positions, throwing away to one side, in one way, the very people that they need the most assistance from at that moment.  Bakarsınız, kâfirlik yapanlar, münafıklık yapanlar, aynı şeyleri yapıyorlardır; zulüm yapıyorlar, gadirde bulunuyorlar, insanları mahrum ediyorlar, azlediyorlar, ihraç ediyorlar, konumlarına dokunuyorlar, en yararlı insanlardan yararlanılacağı zamanda onları -bir yönüyle- kaldırıp bir kenara atıyorlar.
It's always the same thing that takes place. Hep aynı şey cereyan ediyor.
Because the same things are taking place today, by connecting the matter to the idea of the repetition of similar events in history, I tried to explain the matter from the perspective of the world and the Qur’an. Günümüzde de aynı şeyler cereyan ettiğinden dolayı, meseleyi o tarihî tekerrürler devr-i dâimine bağlayarak, Kur’an’ın hadiselere, dünyaya, insanlara bakışı zaviyesinden arz etmeye çalıştım.
Don’t forget; if you are of those people who know God (and you are)... Unutmayın; sizler, Allah’ı bilen insanlar iseniz -ki öylesiniz-
‘God will inundate those He loves with suffering and sadness,   “Ârifin gönlün Hudâ, gamgîn eder, şâd eylemez
The master will not want to free his precious slave. Bende-i makbulünü mevlâsı âzâd eylemez.”
If you are wise and you know Him, God will not rejoice your soul; he will make you struggle partially so that you may turn your face back to Him. Ârif iseniz, O’nu biliyorsanız, Hudâ sizin gönlünüzü şâd eylemez; çektirir kısmen, yüzünüzü O’na dönesiniz diye.
‘A master will not want to free his precious slave.’ If a master loves his servant, then he would not free him, he will always keep him by his side, by his side, by his side. “Bende-i makbulünü mevlâsı âzâd eylemez” bir kölesini, efendisi şayet seviyorsa, onu âzâd eylemez, hep yanında tutar, yanında tutar, yanında tutar.
He will place Joseph into a well, the Pride of Humanity into the sultanate of Thawr, Abraham into the fire, put Noah face to face with the waves and leave Moses facing an ocean. Yusuf’u kuyuya atar, İnsanlığın İftihar Tablosu’nu Sevr sultanlığına sokar, Hazreti İbrahim’i ateşin içine atar, Hazreti Nuh’u dalgalar ile karşı karşıya getirir, Hazreti Musa’yı bir derya ile karşı karşıya getirir, (sallallâhu alâ seyyidinâ ve aleyhim ecmaîn).
It is a custom of God, it continues unchanged. Âdet-i İlahîdir, hiç değişmeden devam eder durur.
Now, you will look at all that you and your friends have been through from the same angle.  Şimdi, başınıza gelenlere ve arkadaşlarınızın başlarına gelenlere, aynı zaviyeden bakacaksınız.
One day, those who have caused them all this trouble will go mad and die like Hajjaj, will perish in regret like Yazid, and will later be damned and cursed for centuries.
This is a statement made for someone in the past: Biri için söylenmiş bir sözdür:
‘Neither did he enjoy himself, nor did he let the people live in peace’. These are the words to be written on the gravestone of someone: “Ne kendi eyledi rahat, ne halka verdi huzur” birilerinin mezar taşına yazılacak sözler bunlar:
‘Neither did he enjoy himself, nor did he let the people live in peace. “Ne kendi eyledi rahat, ne halka verdi huzur
He has crumbled away from this world, now let the inhabitants of the grave be patient’.  Yıkıldı gitti cihandan, dayansın ehl-i kubûr.”
They have said so, and they will say so. Demişler, diyecekler.
Indeed, have no doubt of this. Evet, hiç tereddüdünüz olmasın.
This Divine custom has never changed, and will not change; The oppressor will be punished, and the oppressed will be distinguished with reward.
‘If the oppressor has cruelty, the oppressed have God.  “Zâlimin zulmü varsa, mazlumun Allah’ı var
It is easy to torment people now, but tomorrow there is the Judgment of God.’ Bugün halka cevretmek kolay, yarın Hakk’ın divanı var.”
‘Those who prosper through tyranny will be ruined in the afterlife’. History has showcased many examples of this, and has led to fear in the hearts of some, and hope for others. ve “Zulm ile âbâd olanın, âhiri berbâd olur” demişler ki tarihte -arz edildiği gibi- yüzlerce misaliyle hep bu mesele sahnelendirilmiş, gösterilmiş; birileri için inkisara sebep olmuş, başkalarında da ümide vesile olmuş.
(At this very moment an electronic slide show display unit in the room coincidentally showed a message relevant to this topic; Hodjaefendi ended the discussion by reading the display.) (Tam sözün burasında elektronik levhada çıkan tablo da aynı konuyu ifade ediyordu; Hocaefendi onu okuyarak sohbeti bitiriyor.)
Good gracious! Allah Allah.
‘Those who prosper through tyranny, will be ruined in the afterlife’, history provides hundreds of examples of this. “Zulm ile âbâd olanın, âhiri berbâd olur” denmiştir ki, tarih, bunun yüzlerce misali ile mâlemâldır.
What’s more, a day of questioning will come, and everything from soup to nuts will be brought to book. Woe to the oppressors on that day!
