These questions must be answered

Apparently, some of our colleagues love the language of war. In reference to the Hizmet movement, they use the phrases “parallel structure" and "alternative state." In the meantime, some of our friends do not hide their love for Kandil and İmralı. We should also note the interest and respect they express for the Ergenekon and Balyoz suspects. I think I better ask a few questions to these fellas:

1. If you call a community a parallel structure and declare civil society organizations that have been respecting laws for many years as enemies of the state, how will you exclude all other communities, even the think tanks fostered by the political administration, from this accusation?

2. Even if you accuse some people of being part of a parallel structure without presenting strong evidence, how will you assure that members of other communities will not experience the same fate, even though you protect other civil society organizations?

3. Court minutes show that the term parallel state was used for the first time in the Kurdistan Communities Union (KCK) investigation. Now those who seek a solution to offer amnesty to the KCK, which serves as an umbrella organization of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), are trying to blame people who have never been involved in a criminal act in their lives. How would you do that? Are you going to imprison those people who love their country while saving the KCK members?

4. And if you profile public servants based on intelligence reports without presenting legal evidence, how would you call this system democratic and legitimate? What would the difference be between such practices and those of Feb. 28, 1997?

5. The overall stance vis-à-vis the coup cases that were promoted during the election campaign season is being abandoned. This is so obvious that the chair of the Bar Association is now being praised even though he was one of the most criticized persons in the past. While you are approaching the suspects of the coup cases so leniently, how can you look into the eyes of the people who are actually considered part of your support base?

6. Given that there are some concrete claims being made and that no single, legal step has ever been taken to address them, how do you explain your implications that innocent people are involved in international conspiracies?
