Was this what you called the language of peace?

The information leaked in the İmralı minutes, which have become instruments of psychological warfare, requires multilayered analyses. It would be wrong to say that the National Intelligence Organization (MİT) has slowed any layer of this analysis. Above all, the purpose of the leakage should be properly understood. Then some details in the leaked documents should be analyzed thoroughly.

For instance, the approach by the Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) to the İmralı minutes is extremely important. They have made some vague statements on the leakage. Their reluctant and arrogant attitude on the content is even graver. They appear extremely happy when they note that the content is pretty similar to that of the notes they hold. This means that they support the content of the leaked minutes. In this case, we should say, “Was this what you called the language of peace?” This discourse should be discussed so that a true language of peace can be created, otherwise this attitude could lead to a serious accident. I do not know why some tend to ignore Abdullah Öcalan's remarks, which should not be tolerated at all. Of course, the solution process is important; however, attempting to minimize this issue and turn it into something that cannot be criticized could lead to negative results for Turkey. We can find Öcalan's arrogant style and approach towards the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) members understandable. After the leakage of the meeting remarks, BDP and PKK members expressed their joy and pleasure. It seems that they no longer believe that their leader sold out their cause out of despair. Maybe these remarks were leaked in an attempt to erase any thoughts of Öcalan's imprisonment.

It is said that the conversation between Öcalan and the BDP members are not important and that what really matters is his letter to the PKK. That is true. But this does not necessarily mean that we should ignore the logic, belief and philosophy of the person the state is holding meetings with. For a long time, Öcalan has been treated as a civil society wise man, as if he is a man of peace and as if he is a man of reason and wisdom. This is not the case. Let those who hold meetings negotiate with him, but the enthusiastic (!) remarks of this man who harassed the BDP deputies should also be subject to a psychiatric analysis. Unless his portrait as a man of conciliation as reflected in the letters addressed to the PKK is not considered together with his arrogant attitude towards his followers, who were there to talk to him, the Justice and Development Party (AK Party), the MİT and the entire nation will be harmed.

Above all, this man is arrogant and a narcissist. You cannot build a language of peace with this backward mentality. Even though the AK Party administration does not give any response to a man who says that he handed over the government to the AK Party on a silver platter, shouldn't the millions of people who voted for him say something. He considers himself a man who holds the world in his palm and with this attitude, he argues that he will allow Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to become president under a presidential system. Besides, he makes some extreme remarks that could undermine the image of Prime Minister Erdoğan who has repeatedly said that he would not compromise on the terrorism issue. He makes threats, arguing that he would wage a war with 50,000 men if his plan is not implemented. A substantial portion of Turkey's intellectuals still hold an optimistic approach towards Öcalan, which could be summarized as, “Well, he is saying in essence that he is a man of peace.” I do not judge some of them because I have known for a long time that some writers and intellectuals on the left wing have held positive views of the PKK. The tendency towards violence and terror in the left wing has never declined. This is such a vicious state of mind.

And this is what I am really unable to understand: that the people who are fearful of the possibility of a partition in this country rely on possible solutions drawn up by this man who imitates Stalin. True, we need to tolerate some deviances and improper actions in order to resolve the Kurdish issue which has remained unresolved for decades; but we should not make a historical mistake by looking at just one side of the coin.

In fact, I am not surprised by Apo's speech. He has always been like this, a megalomaniac who admires himself. He is a registered agent but accuses innocent people of serving as agents. He is a puppet of imperialism; but he presents people who never submitted to others but Allah as figures like himself. And most gravely, while he is making these remarks, some Muslims are not disturbed at all. This is a great shame! Those who remain indifferent and silent to a discourse that disturbs the soul of a great man and grand scholar, Bediuzzaman, who fought racism his whole life and was accused of racism, could be held responsible for failures in the future. This man is being racist to cause turmoil. I am also afraid that those who ignore the remarks by this lunatic racist referring to Fethullah Gülen, a man of integrity and honesty who has served his nation and all of humanity and dedicated his life to the betterment of the people, as a bad person would be embarrassed in this life and the afterlife as well. To conclude, we of course support spending efforts and toleration for the sake of a solution. But as we do this we must not forget who we are dealing with.

Is a solution possible without Öcalan?

Recently, we have looked at this matter as follows: the state cannot resolve this issue without Öcalan. Is that true? It is disputable. We have a man whose arrogance exceeds the Himalayans, but whose sphere of influence is limited to his radius. Yet this option could be tried because a myth has been created around this man. We will see as to whether the state institution, National Intelligence Organization (MİT, can deal with the myth created by the members of the PKK. To properly read the matter, the whole issue should be evaluated from Öcalan's perspective as well. What are the alternatives awaiting for him? If he does not negotiate he will die in prison. Is that it? Of course, no. Öcalan is aware of the great danger awaiting him. In case the state continues to describe him as baby murderer, the process will culminate in his elimination. The balance is changing within the PKK. There is an ongoing power struggle within the PKK central committee of senior members; in addition, each of the young units has the potential to become an archeological exhibition. This means that it is not obvious as to whether the state really needs to talk to Öcalan or Öcalan holds expectations from the state; this should be analyzed properly.

Negotiating with Öcalan to attain a solution is not the only option. But now this option is being tested out, and it should be. However, it would be a great mistake to believe that this is the only option and that we have to rely on Öcalan to find a solution. The course of the dissolution and elimination of organizations like the PKK is evident by examples found throughout the world. As soon as the state turns its back to Öcalan, the process will find a new course. Öcalan will never recover from the depression associated with the double liquidation (state and organization). The negotiations held without seeing this reality are like games where you start 1-0 behind because psychological supremacy affects the final result.
