Graduation Brightens Afghan Province
Ninety-five students graduated from the Kandahar Afghan-Turkish High School in the Kandahar province of southern Afghanistan, a province known mostly for violent skirmishes.
This was the school's second graduation ceremony since its founding in 2001, and this year's occasion was attended by senior government officials.
Afghani President Hamid Karzai's brother Ahmed Veli Karzai joined Kandahar Governor Asadullah Halid, Foreign Affairs Head Shah Ahmad Said and representatives from several government bodies in the ceremony.
The ceremony started with the singing of both countries national anthems followed by Kandahar Governor Asadullah Halid address expressing his gratitude for the school's successes.
Graduates were also presented their diplomas during the ceremony.
