Gülen Conference Ends on High Note

The last day of the Gülen Conference held a the University of Southern California continued to look at the various topics that were presented by the many scholars that were in attendance. The different sessions began with a discussion of the Gülen movement's educational activities and went into philosophical insights and finalized with a forum on Turkish politics and culture.

The interest in the Gülen-inspired schools have grown tremendously worldwide due to the success stories and scholars presented their findings on several topics ranging from a research on a young student and the educative themes associated with the schools to success stories in Australia and Kosovo.

Portland State University Professor, Samuel Henry raised questions about the educational life story, how is social justice a part of this and how participation in the Gülen movement affects educational views.

Professor Cemen Polat of Sule College meanwhile spoke about Gülen-inspired schools in Australia and their funding.

She says that Gülen pushes for financial transparency of the schools in which the schools are funded privately and by the Australian government.

Professor Jeton Mehmeti of Kosovo spoke of the contributions of the schools in his country and how they provided high teaching standards.

Attendees said the conference was a success and the Gülen Movement could help build bridges to more dialog amongst religions and cultures.

Other topics in Sunday's sessions looked at several philosophical insights and finalized with a forum on Turkish politics and culture.
