Istanbul Inspires Turkish Olympiad Participants

More than 500 students from 100 countries who were in Istanbul for the Turkish Olympiad finals enjoyed their last night in the city with a boat tour on the Bosporus.

The students experienced emotional moments as they said their goodbyes to each other. Istanbul Mayor Kadir Topbas, who accompanied the students on the tour, thanked them for being Turkish language ambassadors to the world and said Turkish would soon become a world language thanks to these children. He posed for photos with the students and signed their journals. He said the love that was brought to Turkey with the Olympiad will spread across the world. "This love is the strongest call to the world for peace," the mayor said.

Proud that students from around the world had learned Turkish, Topbas noted that the event also serves as an opportunity for Turkey to show its capabilities to the world. "The Turkish Olympiad will contribute more to world peace in the future. When these students become businessmen and managers, they will help Turkey and its public. They will explain the hospitality of Turks to their people. This event is a big investment for Turkey," the mayor said.

During the three-hour cruise, students saw the splendor of Istanbul and the illuminated bridges over the strait as they sang Turkish songs. Students noted that they were inspired by Turkey's hospitality and kindness. First-place winner for poem recitation, Aida Risbekkizi from Kyrgyzstan, said the Olympiad was an important message for peace.
