"These decent-spirited Turks have impressed me. You can count me as one of you now," said the famous musician. The program was organized to help promote global peace, bringing together people who have a resolute determination to spread the ideas of respect for cultural differences and fruitful interaction. McKennitt received a huge round of applause from the audience for her speech, in which she lauded the Gülen movement’s contributions to bridging cultural differences and creating an atmosphere of peace. "For us, the people on this side of the world, there are so many things that we can learn from the thinker [Gülen] whose guidance has inspired this organization. That is why I am asking you to consider me one of you," said McKennitt, adding: "I am highly impressed by his teachings. I would love to support this movement myself."
