Madeline Albright Helps Open Turkish Center
Former US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright joined a ribbon cutting ceremony for a local Turkish cultural center in Houston, Texas.
At the beginning of the ceremony, a group of American students from the Harmony School of Innovation performed a Turkish folk dance in traditional costumes.
Turkiye's Consul General in Houston, Atilla Uzer, joined the ribbon cutting ceremony along with Albright and Texas Congressman Al Green.
Representative Green said, "the Turkish community can be proud of the positive impact they have on our community." He added, "America would not be America without the Turkish community."
The vice consul of Turkiye in Houston, Ali Findik, the consul general of Norway, Israel and Japan also attended the opening ceremony as well as other Texas state representatives.
The new center, the Turquoise Center, hosts the offices of institutions such as, The Raindrop Turkish House, the Institute of Interfaith Dialogue, the Citadel Foundation, Houston-Istanbul Sister City Association, Houston-Baku Sister City Association and the Turkmen Young Scholars Association.
