The Gülen movement, a leader in the field of intercultural and interfaith dialogue has achieved impressive results internationally and in Turkey specifically.

Mr. Gülen, a Turkish Muslim scholar, opinion leader, author, educational activist and preacher emeritus is recognized internationally and is the Honorary President of the Journalists and Writers Foundation in Turkey.

Interfaith and Intercultural Dialogue

Starting in 1994, Gülen's efforts to promote interfaith dialogue have contributed to reducing tensions between different religions and ideologies in Turkey. The Journalists and Writers Foundation organized a series of gatherings involving leaders of religious minorities in Turkey such as the Greek Orthodox and the Armenian Orthodox Patriarchs, the Chief Rabbi of Turkey and the Vatican's Representative and others.

Another platform named "ABANT" brought together leading intellectuals from all corners of the political spectrum, including leftists, atheists, nationalists, religious conservatives, and liberals, for the first time in recent Turkish history and it provided a forum for debate. The movement continues to organize conferences, panels, interfaith and intercultural trips, congressional dinners and other activities, to avoid religious conflict and maintain a culture of dialogue around the globe.
