Ramazan Dinner by Lehigh Dialogue Center

The Lehigh Dialogue Center in cooperation with Marywood University held the 1st Peace & Dialog Dinner last night. The event was designed to raise awareness about the importance of interfaith and intercultural dialogue in the Greater Scranton area.

Plus, help the community develop peace, and harmony. Organizers are looking forward to having Community leaders join together to promote better dialogue and make a difference in Scranton.

The Program began with LDC President Abdullah Bozkurt's welcoming speech. In his speech Bozkurt said "Dialogue is accepting people from different thoughts,views,backgrounds. There shouldn't be any hidden agenda. He concluded his speech with the importance of universal values that paves the way for dialogue. He stressed the importance of love of family, friends, community and education.

The President of the Temple of Hessed in Scranton in his speech stated that he takes Interfaith Dialogue very personally. Because, he said, he may be the only Rabbi whose father-in-law is an Egyption Muslim. He also introduced his doughter who is a 7 year old adopted Hindu from India. He said that around the family table they are like an interfaith dialogue. At the end of his speech he wanted his daughter to play a very ancient insturment called the "shofar"

The President of Marywood University, Sister Ann Munley, began her speech stating that a university is a locus for dialogue. She stated that we have to look pass the diffeences. She asked Lehigh Dialogue Center to continue what they are doing.

Dinner was concluded with Artwork exchange of gifts and a Dessert Buffet.
