Russian Ambassador: Turkish Schools are not Closed
Russia's Ambassador to Ankara Petr Stegniy denied the news that the Turkish schools in his country were closed down.
The Ambassador said he did not receive such information, "If the news were right, they would have sent me official information."
Stegniy answering Zaman's questions stressed the importance of educational relations between the two countries.
He reminded many students from Russia come to Turkey for educational purposes and that the friendship ties are good at a societal level as well.
The ambassador added Russians attach great importance to the friendship with Turkey and they named one of the halls in their consulate building in Istanbul, "Ataturk" after the founder of the Turkish Republic Mustafa Kemal Ataturk.
"Mutual relations have developed to such an extent that there are direct contacts among the cities now. In this context, for many activities state authorization is not required." (By Sezai Kalayci, Istanbul)
