Three Religions Break Bread in Türkiye
The representatives of the three religions gathered at the traditional fast breaking dinner of the Foundation of Journalists and Writers in Turkiye this week trading messages of peace and tolerance.
This year's theme of the Foundation of Journalists and Writers was “the generations of this land”. The guests included indigenous peoples.
Fethullah Gülen, the honorary president of the foundation, offered his tender words of praise and affection in his absence as he could not attend the dinner.
"Sharing the blessed period of time which we have observed is beautiful." he said, "I feel the pain that I could not be seated at the prosperous table of those who devoted themselves to peace and dialogue.
Mustafa Yesil, the official president of the foundation and host of the event said the dialogue which enabled people of different religious backgrounds and cultures to gather around the same table was in fact a lifestyle lived by the people of character.
Turkish Jewish Chief Rabbi Ishak Haleva said the Jewish community had never been discriminated but lived peacefully on this land.
Haleva said this co-existence should be a model for the entire world.
Georges Marovich the Istanbul representative of Vatican who had a traffic accident one and a half years also attended the dinner, offering his own praise.
