Gülen extends condolences over Kastamonu attack

Turkish Islamic scholar Fethullah Gülen has extended his profound regret over the killing of a police officer in what he termed a “malicious ambush” and said he shares the sorrow with Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

A group of outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) members is believed to be behind the attack on police officers who escorted Erdoğan in Kastamonu early on Wednesday. The attack left one dead and two others injured.

Gülen said he was deeply saddened upon learning about the ambush and said this incident clearly shows that those who cannot stand the stability and peace of this nation have put their hatred-filled plans into play.

Gülen said he hopes this incident will lead the nation to stand united and asked God to protect the prime minister and the country.

Gülen also extended his prayers to the slain officer and asked for a speedy recovery for the injured.
