Tribune Receives Niagara Foundation Award

The Chicago Tribune received a media award today from a Chicago-based foundation that promotes community service.

The Niagara Foundation is part of Niagara Educational Services Inc., a non-profit organization that founded the Science Academy of Chicago and tutors students in math, computers and foreign languages.

Other honorees include Chicago 2016, which won the community service award; former Illinois Atty. Gen. Neil Hartigan, who won a lifetime achievement award; and University of Chicago Divinity School Dean Richard Rosengarten, who received an award named for Fethullah Gülen, an Islamic preacher and educator in Turkey. The awards were announced in evening ceremonies at the University Club of Chicago, 76 E. Monroe St.
