Turkish Language Olympic Closes in Istanbul
The 7th Annual event features 700 students from 115 different countries competing in different Turkish language categories and today winners of their individual events were presented their gold medals.
Hosted by Samanyolu TVs famous News anchor Kemal Gülen as well as Turkiye's famous actress Zeynep Kasimlioglu, the program started with Turkish anthem recited by 4 and 5 year old girls from the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Head of the organizing committee, Dr. Mehmet Saglam, gave an opening address and mentioned their intention to promote the Turkish language throughout the world.
He also looked forward to a time when Turkish will be a language spoken in international politics, science, and art.
Turkish Prime minister Erdogan was also on hand, praising the teachers and volunteers and attributing the success of these students in part to the tireless efforts of their teachers around the world.
Audiences were mesmerized with outstanding performances by foreign students singing in Turkish, performing traditional folklore dance, and reciting poetry in Turkish.
Students also presented their skills in using Turkish grammar and writing.
The winners were awarded gold medals.
The program concluded with all of the student contestants singing in Turkish, 'We are the children of the world'.
