Turkish Olympiads Show in Kayseri Draws Huge Crowd
Over 60,000 people attended a show in the Central Anatolian province of Kayseri performed by students from the 7th International Turkish Olympiads as part of their Anatolian tour.
Although competitions at this year's Turkish Olympiads have finished, ending with an awards ceremony held at the ASKİ sports center in Ankara on Saturday, a number of students from many nations will continue to show their skills in Turkish as part of their Anatolian tour, which commenced in Kayseri on Monday. Organized by the Kayseri Young Industrialists and Businessmen's Association (GESİAD), the Kayseri leg of the Turkish Olympiads' Anatolia tour was held at the newly built Kadir Has Stadium. One-hundred fifty children from 25 countries took part in the show, which lasted three hours. The show started with two youngsters from the Republic of Congo, aged 4 and 5, reciting verses of the Turkish national anthem and continued with the performances of students from the US, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Indonesia, Georgia, Iraq, Italy, Egypt and Moldavia. Kayseri Governor Mevlüt Bilici, Kayseri Mayor Mehmet Özhaseki, Justice and Development Party (AK Party) deputies Ahmet Öksüzkaya and Yaşar Karayel presented awards to the students.
Organized by the International Turkish Education Association (TÜRKÇEDER), this year's Turkish Olympiads hosted 700 students from 115 countries.
