The Mystery of Humanity or Different Types of People

When I repent, I often say the following: İstiğfar ederken çoğu zaman şöyle diyorum:
'I seek forgiveness thousands and millions of times from all of my sins, all of my mistakes, all of my actions that could represent rebellion to God, engaging in manners and conduct that God does not like and would not be pleased with, also things that are not tasks for us, that have no benefit to us in this world and the Hereafter.' "Bütün günahlardan, topyekûn hatalardan, Allah'a isyan manasına gelen her fiilden, Rabbimizin sevmeyeceği ve razı olmayacağı hal, tavır ve işlerin tamamından, bir de üstümüze vazife olmayan, bize dünya ahiret fayda vermeyen ve katiyen yakışmayan şeylerin hepsinden binlerce kere, milyon defa istiğfar ediyorum."
As you know, God's Messenger, peace and blessings be upon him, encourages and admires that there to be a lot of repentance in a person's book of deeds.
'Knowingly and unknowingly, I'm tired of all the sins that I committed with my hands, tongue, mouth, eyes, ears and all my other limbs; my imagination, ideas, reasoning. I'm tired of the black dots that corrupt my spirit. I cannot compare to that person who says these words: As Rumi says: İstiğfar; "Bilerek/bilmeyerek -öyle derler idi- elimden, dilimden, ağzımdan, gözümden, kulağımdan ve sâir âzâ vü cevârihimden; tahayyüllerimden, tasavvurlarımdan, taakkullerimden; zift gibi ruh dünyam üzerine sıçrayan ne kadar mel'ûn mesâvî var ise, hepsinden bîzârem. -Hazreti Mevlânâ ifadesiyle- Bîzârem ez u vez an, suhan bîzârem.
My God, I seek refuge in You because of these things. (Davacıyım/uzağım o sözden de onu söyleyenden de.) Yâ Rabbi, bunlardan dolayı Sana sığınıyor, Sana dehalet ediyorum.
Forgive me, even though I do not deserve it. Yarlığa bendeni, liyakatim olmadığı halde.
I'm repenting and You are the Acceptor of Repentance, please accept my repentance. Tevbe ediyorum; Tevvâb'sın, kabul buyur, ne olur.
Do not leave me unanswered in this state of penitence.
Include me in the ranks of those who turn towards You in contrition. "Evbe" ufkundan Sana yönelenler arasında eyle beni de.
Give me the same attitude as those who turn towards You for their minor sins as though they have committed the greatest sins. Hiç olmadık günahlarına bile dağlar cesâmetinde günahlar işlemiş gibi Sana teveccüh edenlerin teveccüh duygusunu bana lütfeyle." manalarına geliyor.
These are three types of repentance that indicate the rank of a person.
In the Sufi tradition, there is a term called 'people of the Prophet'. Sofî ıstılahında, "Âdem-i Nebevî" tabiri vardır.
This is the means in becoming a decent person by following the path of the Prophets. Âdem-i Nebevî, peygamberlik yolunda adam olma demektir.
In Turkish, we say 'Be a man, a real man'. Türkçemizde de "Adam gibi adam ol." derler.
In the actual sense, being a decent person is linked to following the path of the Prophets. Adam gibi adam olmak, hakikî manada, Âdem-i Nebevî yolunu takip etmeye vâbestedir.
Based on the outer physical universe, Prophet Adam is the first, however the Noble Spirit of the Master of Humankind is first in terms of the Realm of Knowledge; 'God first created my light' he says. Hazreti Âdem (aleyhisselam), "âlem-i hâricî" itibarıyla evveldir; Hazreti Rûh-u Seyyidi'l-enâm (sallallâhu aleyhi ve sellem), "âlem-i ilim" itibarıyla evveldir; "Allah'ın en önce yarattığı benim nurumdur." buyurmuştur.
As it happens, Prophet Adam, who is first in terms of creation like a seed, gave fruit to the Noble Spirit of the Master of Humankind who is first in terms of knowledge.
The most sacred fruit of this blessed tree, the Noble Spirit of the Master of Humankind, peace and blessings be upon him; and those who follow are travellers on the path of the Prophet. Bir şecere-i mübârekenin öpülüp başa konulacak mübarek meyvesi Hazreti Rûh-u Seyyidi'l-enâm (sallallâhu aleyhi ve sellem); O'nun yolunu takip edenlere "Âdem-i Nebevî" denir.
Those on the path of the Prophets try to capture the Divine Self-disclosures each time they blink and try to catch the blessing God has bestowed upon them. Peygamber yolunun yolcuları; Göz açar ve kapar, sürekli oradan gelen tecellîleri avlamaya çalışırlar, eltâf-ı Sübhâniyeyi yakalamaya çalışırlar, içlerine doğan şeylerle işin verâsını kurcalamaya çalışırlar.
They are always analysing and synthesising.
'Today, I heard this and felt this; when I analyse and synthesise this, what will be the outcome? "Şimdi şunu duydum, şunu hissettim; bunu analiz ettiğim zaman, acaba bunun sentezinden ne çıkar?"
When they reach this level, they set their eyes on the horizon; and with ardent longing, never satisfied, they long for reunion with God.
And they show those near them the same path. Ve etraflarındaki hâlelere de o yolu gösterirler.
Especially, the circle that formed around the Noble Spirit of the Master of Humankind; their eyes were always watching him and it was impossible for someone watching him not to believe. Hususiyle, etrafında çok ciddî hâleler oluşan Hazreti Rûh-u Seyyidi'l-enâm; O Hâle'nin gözleri hep O'nun üzerinde; O'na bakanın inanmaması mümkün değildir.
But if they are prejudiced, that is a different story.
Like Abu Jahl, Utbah, Shayba and the modern day Pharaohs; if they are prejudiced, they have fallen victim to their obstinacy and drowned in it.
But those, who were objective like Abdullah ibn Salam, have said, 'Let me take a look at this' and when they witnessed his beauty and perfectness, they said, 'I swear to God, no lie exists on this face' and sought refuge in the Oneness and Unity of God with upmost seriousness. Fakat Abdullah İbn Selâm gibi, objektif bir mülahaza ile "Ben bir bakayım buna." demişlerse, O'nun o cemâl-i bâ-kemâlini müşahede edince, "Vallahi bu çehrede yalan yok." demiş ve hemen kemerbeste-i ubudiyet ile Kelime-i Tevhîd'e sığınmışlardır.
Even though he was a notable Jewish scholar, regardless of every embellishment and luxury that came from his position, he threw himself in front of the Messenger of God and said: O, Allah Rasûlü'nün önünde -İsrail ulemasından, müşârun bi'l-benân olmasına rağmen- her şeyini atarak, üzerinde ziynet/debdebe adına Musevîlikten gelme ne varsa hepsini atarak,
'I have become a servant, become a servant, become a servant; "Kul oldum, kul oldum, kul oldum.
I have bowed over in servitude to you. Ben Sana hizmette iki büklüm oldum.
Servants reach bliss when they are freed; I have reached bliss when I have become a servant to you!" These are Rumi's words. It's this mindset that he had in front of the Messenger of God. Kullar âzâd olunca şâd olur; ben Sana kul olduğumdan dolayı şâd oldum." -Bunu, Hazreti Mevlânâ söylüyor.- mülahazalarını dillendiriyor gibi, o ruh haletiyle, Allah Rasûlü karşısında dize gelmiş.
The reason for this bowing down is an objective observation, a correct viewing, not just 'looking' but 'seeing'; 'I have looked at this but how must I see it?'
When you look at those faces, you'd remember God; they radiate fear and awe of God. Evet, görüldükleri zaman, Allah'ı hatırlatan simalar; Çehrelerinden mehâfet ve mehâbet dökülür onların.
They are the people of the Prophet. Birer Âdem-i Nebevî'dir onlar.
The second circle among the men of the Prophet include the Prophet's Companions and their Successors. These people are 'the circles of light', but I prefer to use 'first circle' and 'second circle' as the short term for it. Âdem-i Nebevî'de ikinci halkayı teşkil edenler ise, ister "sahabe" deyin, ister "Tâbiîn'in önde gelenleri" deyin, o Hâle'yi teşkil edenler; Ama Kıtmîr "birinci halka", "ikinci halka" deme cihetini tercih ediyor.
The first circle are the Rightly-Guided Caliphs, the Ten Companions Promised Paradise, the wives of God's Messenger, and the Family of the Prophet. Hâle'yi teşkil eden birinci halka; O halkanın da O'na (sallallâhu aleyhi ve sellem) en yakın olanı Râşid Halifeler, Aşere-i Mübeşşere, Ezvâc-ı Tâhirât, Âl-i Beyt-i Rasûlullah (sallallâhu aleyhi ve sellem).
The other Companions of the Prophet form the second circle, which is very close to the first circle. İkinci halkayı, belki izâfî birinci halkayı teşkil edenler, diğer sahabe-i kirâm; İzâfî, hakikî izâfî diyeyim ben ona.
The next circle is formed by their Successors, and the next, by the generation after the Successors, which is then followed by saints who will continue to come until the end of time. Sonra, Tâbiîn-i ızâm; sonra Tebe-i Tâbiîn-i kirâm; sonra da tâ kıyamete kadar gelecek Ehlullah.
Their gazes are fixed on His door, their heads are in prostration in front of his door, and their hands are constantly knocking on His door, saying, 'O Lord! Sürekli gözleri o kapıda, başları o kapının eşiğinde, elleri o kapının tokmağında; hep "Yâ Rabb.
O All-Merciful! Yâ Rahman.
O All-Compassionate!' as they groan and their voices resonate all around. Yâ Rahîm." duyguları ile inleyip etrafı velveleye veren insanlar.
These are people of the Prophet. Bunlara "Âdem-i Nebevî" denir.
Another group are, in a way, 'the superficial people'. Sonraki şıkta olanlara belki -bir yönüyle- "Âdem-i Sûrî" diyebilirsiniz.
These superficial people are also called men as they are in the shape of human beings but they are not complete. Âdem-i Sûrî; Belki sûretâ insan şeklinde göründüklerinden dolayı onlara "adam" deniyor; fakat esasen adam değil onlar.
They struggle to be on the right path throughout their lives. Onlar, hayatı bata-çıka götürüyorlar.
That is why it is more suitable to call them 'the superficial people'. Belki onlara "Âdem-i Sûrî" demek, daha uygun olacaktır.
One level below them is another category which can be described as 'the people of carnality.'
In this respect, the Honourable Sage Bediüzzaman says: Hazreti Pîr, o mevzudaki mülahazalarını ifade sadedinde diyor ki:
''Since this is the truth; abandon the base desires and instincts, (stop being a man of carnality) and rise to the degree of life of the heart and the spirit.' "Madem hakikat böyledir; hayvaniyetten çık. -Âdem-i hayvanî olmaktan çık.- Kalb ve ruhun derece-i hayatına yüksel."
By saying this, he actually turns one's focus to be like the 'the circles of light.' Böyle denmek suretiyle -esasen- "Hâle" işaretleniyor orada.
It is essential to follow their lead the best we can by considering how they lived and behaved, what they said, and what legacy they left behind. Onlar nasıl yaşamışlar, nasıl oturup-kalkmışlar, ne demişler, ne etmişler ve geriye ne miras bırakmışlar ise, santim kaybetmeden onları adım adım takip etme mevzuu;
While doing all these, we should think, 'Am I behaving suitably to attain God's pleasure?' Bütün bunları yaparken de "Acaba tam rıza-i İlahîye uygun düştü mü?"
A real believer who prays 20 hours a day, who does not lift his head from prostration, who constantly mentions His Names and says, 'O God, the Unique One of Absolute Unity, the Self-Sufficient One, the All-Merciful, the All-Compassionate', and who does not indulge in anything else. Gerçek mü'min; Yirmi saat ibadet yapıyor; yirmi saat başını yerden kaldırmıyor; gezerken, otururken, sürekli vird-i zebânı "O" (celle celâluhu); bazen "Hû." diyor; bazen "Ehad." diyor; bazen "Samed." diyor; bazen "Vâhid." diyor; bazen "Vâcid." diyor; bazen "Rahman." diyor; bazen "Rahîm." diyor; Dilini başka şeyler ile hiç kirletmiyor.
He finds these insufficient compared to God's greatness and his own low-ranking.
If they do not lead back to Him, it should be pushed away. Bunların kâfiyesi şu olmayınca, bunların hepsini elinin tersiyle it bir yere.
What leads back to Him? Nedir kâfiyesi?
'O Absolutely Worshipped One, True Desired One. "Ey Ma'bud-i Mutlak, Maksûd-i bi'l-istihkâk.
We could not worship you according to your Greatness.' Büyüklüğüne göre Sana kulluk yapamadık/yapamadım."
'O the All-Seeing and All-Knowing. "Her şeyden daha fazla/iyi bilinen, Maruf-i Mutlak.
You are the One familiar with everything and everyone. Herkesten, her şeyden -belki bir yönüyle, her şeye âşinâ gözlere- en iyi bilinen, görünen Sensin.
We were not able to know You properly.' Ama Seni hakkıyla bilemedik/bilemedim."
And continuing it with the following; 'O the One Who is always mentioned with praise and gratitude, we have not been able to show You the gratitude You deserve and bow in Your presence.
Whatever I have is from You. Neyim var ise, hepsi Sen'den.
My wealth is from You; being alive is from You; being human is from You.' Varlığım, Sen'den; Canlı olmam, Sen'den; İnsan olmam, Senden."
Sometimes, when one places their head in prostration, one does not know how to adequately express praise and glorification. Hakikaten bazen insan, başını yere koyunca, nasıl hamd ü sena edeceğini bilemiyor.
Was I able to prostrate fully? Elimizde miydi secdeye muvaffak olmak?
We could have been born in a different time and place. Başka bir hazirede neş'et edebilirdik.
But we were raised in an environment where the exalted name of the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, was repeated, we took our first steps saying, 'In the Name of God!'
Then, in a way, Almighty God showed us the next step; 'Look, do not stand there; there is another step in front of you.
And another. Bir basamak daha var.
And another. Bir basamak daha var."
By showing us the path to ascend from superficial to sublime humans, then, in a sense, to the people of the Prophet, He gave strength to 'willpower' and granted us appropriate use of our 'inclinations'. Sûrî'den belki ulvî olan İnsanî'ye, İnsanî'den bir yönüyle Nebevî'ye yükselme yollarını göstermek suretiyle, "irade"ye fer verdi, "meyelân"ı isabetli kullanmayı lütfetti.
When making a choice between right and wrong, under ordinary conditions, "Tesâvi-i tarafeyn"den (veya "mütesâvi'üt-tarafeyn"den; yani, vâcib ve mümteni olmayan, belki mümkün ve muhtemel olan şeylerin vücûd ve ademleri, bir sebeb bulunmazsa müsavidir, farkları yoktur.
He showed you the path that leads you to the right and said, 'This is the one'.
Before you could realise, you found yourself right in the middle of the straight path. Sen, farkına varmadan, birden bire -bağışlayın- "Cup." diye kendini doğrunun içinde buldun.
What falls upon you is to get deeper in this regard; if this is like diving into the ocean, then it is about reaching coral reefs and even going the distance to reach the beings under them who do not see the sunlight and remembering Him by saying 'He'.
If this growth is spiritual and angelic, then like the angels moving towards the heavens; to say, 'Is there no more?'; 'This is the first layer of the heavens. this the second, this the third'; just as the Noble Spirit of the Master of Humankind ascended through the heavens reaching a point described as 'Nearer than the distance between the string of two bows or even nearer;' to reach 'the point between the necessity and contingency'; in a sense, it is the meeting point of 'nonexistence' and the 'Divine Existence'.
Then to represent the pinnacle of self-annihilation before the presence of God and to subsistence by and with God; to see the last thing to be seen, to return intoxicated at the sight of Him; to say, 'If there is this much beauty here, we now hold the responsibility of bringing others to witness it.' Sonra "Fenâfillah" ve "Bekâbillah" hakikatini zirvede temsil etme; doğrudan doğruya en son görülecek şeyi görme, O'nun temâşâsı ile mest u mahmur olarak geriye dönme; "Bu kadar güzellikler var ise burada, başkalarını buraya ulaştırma vazifesi düşüyor bize." deme;
Yet to return despite witnessing even the most intoxicating, the greatest of blessings; to return with the spirit of altruism to bring others to that same point; one must experience that drunkenness themselves, in the name of producing new drunkards, at the cost of enduring everything, to return to this temporary, false world; and to pull people out of that marsh and reach the horizon of 'People of the Prophets.' Nimetlerin en mest edici, sermest hâle getirici ve en büyükleriyle mest ü sermest olduğu halde bile geriye dönme; başkalarını da o noktaya ulaştırma "îsâr" ruhu ile, fedakarlık ruhu ile geriye dönme; İnsanın kendisinin duyup mest olması başka bir mesele, yeni "mest"ler, yeni "sermest"ler oluşturma adına, her şeye katlanma pahasına, yeniden bu fânî diyara, bir yönüyle "erâcif" olan bu dünyaya dönme; ve insanları o bataklık içinden kurtarma, o "Âdem-i Nebevî" ufkuna ulaştırma;
Those on the path of 'the people of carnality' walk with great difficulty; what they call a highway is indeed a mere trail and so they suffer. "Âdem-i Hayvanî" yolunda yürüyen insanlar, düşe kalkadırlar; onların "şehrâh" dedikleri şey, patika olduğundan sürekli sürüm sürümdürler.
Sometimes, they follow the fanciful inclinations and lusts of the human carnal soul. Bazen hevâ-i nefislerine uyarlar.
Sometimes, they accept these desires as God, the Qur'an mentions this. Bazen hevâyı ilah ittihaz ederler, Kur'an-ı Kerim ifade buyuruyor bunu.
Sometimes, may God protect us from it, they succumb to luxury and pomp. Bazen -hafizanallah- bohemliklerine yenik düşerler.
Sometimes, they succumb to applause and appreciation. Bazen alkışa ve takdire yenik düşerler.
Sometimes they say 'villas,' sometimes 'mansions,' 'palaces.' They say 'applause,' they say 'appreciation.' They walk step by step further along the path of Satan. Bazen "Villa." derler, "Yalı." derler, "Saray." derler, "Alkış." derler, "Takdir." derler; şeytan yolunda adım adım şeytana doğru yürürler.
Yes, these are called 'the people of carnality.' Evet, bunlara da "Âdem-i hayvânî" denir.
In accordance to 'They are like cattle (following only their instincts)- rather, even more astray (from the right way and in need of being led) (Al-Araf, 7:179), sometimes they take the matter to such a point that they are beneath even animals. "Onlar hayvanlar gibidir, hatta onlardan da aşağıdırlar" (A'râf, 7:179) fehvasınca, bazen öyle bir noktaya işi götürürler ki, hayvandan daha aşağıdırlar.
The All-Knowing Lord has created us in such a disposition that we have potential for animalistic tendencies.
He also shows the potential of superficial desires. Sonra "sûrîlik" ufkunu göstermiş.
And then the 'people of sainthood' potential is also shown. Sonra "Âdem-i velâyet" ufkunu işaretlemiş.
After this, He sets out the target of being 'people of the Prophet' as your ultimate goal. Daha sonra -adeta- "Âdem-i Nebevî ufku, esas hedefiniz olmalı." demiş.
For, a human will put forth their value according to their goal. Zira insan, gerçek kıymetini hedefinin kıymeti ile ortaya koymuş olur.
However great their goal, in a way, that is how great they are as a human being.
Whatever they desire, that is their worth. İnsan neye tâlip ise, kıymeti ona göredir.
If one seeks the world, then they are after falsehood.
If one is lost to this world, to this delusion of immortality, as though they are immortal, unaware of the Hereafter, then there is nothing that distinguishes them from Satan. Tûl-i emeli ile, tevehhüm-i ebediyeti ile, hiç ölmeyecekmiş gibi, âhireti unutuyor ve balıklamasına bu dünyaya dalıyorsa, şeytandan farkı yoktur onun.
Let them call out to the Lord if they will, or to the Prophet; this is nothing but showing off. They couldn't overcome their imitation, their superficial and carnal aspects; even if they visit the mosque, or perform pilgrimage, they have not escaped such a state, may God protect us from it. İsterse "Allah." desin, "Peygamber." desin; taklitten sıyrılamamış, sûrî insaniyetten sıyrılamamış, "Âdem-i Hayvanî" mahiyetinden sıyrılamamış demektir; camiye gelse de, hacca gitse de sıyrılamamış, sıyrılamamış, sıyrılamamıştır, hafizanallah.
Some appear out of that environment as well.
They go forward crawling. Onlar da emekleye emekleye gidiyorlar.
Like a child learning to walk, first through crawling, then by falling and rising back up again, later walking properly, after a while, they are ready to almost fly.
Similarly, a human in terms of their physical and spiritual faculties, they do not know anything.
But from their surroundings, they hear of 'God', and the resurrection. Fakat çevresinde "Allah, Peygamber, ukbâ, haşir, neşir" duyuyor.
Over the course of time, they accept this first by following authority. Zamanla bunları taklit olarak kabulleniyor.
However, a time comes, where Divine light and insight are both bestowed upon us with their full depth, and we can see the wisdom behind it. Fakat zaman geliyor, aynı anda "Basar"ın yanında "Basiret"i de bütün enginliğiyle açılıyor, her şeyi arka planı ile görüyor.
So, as mentioned in the books we read in the morning, God, may He be glorified and exalted, does not do anything in vain, thus, we do not live with any purpose, and we will not die without a purpose.
He will not leave us in sorrow, in separation all alone. Bizi hicran içinde, hüsran içinde, yürek yakıcı şeyler karşısında yapayalnız bırakmayacak.
In the Hereafter, He will bestow His blessing upon us; with all the beauty and perfection we are almost going to understand that God is proud with His creation. We will experience the joy of sensing the meaning of eternity there. Öbür tarafta da Cennet'i bize lütfedecek, cemâl-i bâ-kemâli ile meseleyi taçlandıracak; "Ben, sizden râzıyım." demek suretiyle aradığımız/beklediğimiz her şeyi oksijen gibi bize içirmek suretiyle ebediyetin ne kadar lezzetli bir şey olduğunu duyuracak/hissettirecek.
In this regard, the worries lived here will turn to bounties in the Hereafter.
If this is your aim indeed, regardless of where you stop on the way, how far you walk ahead, you will be esteemed with regard to your intentions.
Indeed what is the goal? Hedef ne ise şayet; nedir o?
The thoughts of the people of the Prophet should be: 'Then, God, may He be glorified and exalted, resurrects you with one another and say, 'He is one of you'. "Âdem-i Nebevî" ufku; O zaman, Allah (celle celâluhu), sizi onlar ile haşr u neşr eder, "Bu da sizdendi." der.
The Qur'an mentions: Say (to them, o Messenger): Kur'an-ı Kerim'de şöyle buyuruluyor: "(Ey Rasûlüm, onlara) de:
'If you indeed love God, then follow me, so that God will love you and forgive you your sins.'
God is All-Forgiving, All-Compassionate" (Al Imran, 3:31). Allah, (günahları) çok bağışlayandır; (bilhassa mü'minlere karşı hususî) rahmet ve merhameti pek bol olandır" (Âl-i Imrân, 3:31).
And say: De ki:
If you love God, follow me. Allah'ı seviyorsanız, bana uyunuz.
And choose your guide wisely. Yani, rehberinizi iyi seçiniz.
In terms of determining the direction of Prayer, the imam's direction of Prayer is vital and so is seeing him leading. Mihrabı belirleme adına imamın durduğu yönü iyi bilmek lazım, imamı görmek lazım önde.
Those who pray without seeing the imam might think they are praying towards the Ka'ba, however, they are turned towards the marquee of Satan. İmamı önünde göremeyen insanlar, "Kâbe'ye doğru namaz kılıyorum." diye "otağ-ı şeytânî"ye dönmüş olurlar.
However, for those who can see the imam, it is as if he is a compass, showing the House of God to its very inch, and the mihrab, and the exact direction of prayer. Ama imamı görenler; O âdetâ bir pusula gibidir, milimi milimine Beytullâh'ı gösterir imam; milimi milimine insana mihrabını gösterir, yöneleceği noktayı gösterir.
Hence, if you aim to reach Him, you must fundamentally let go of 'I'. Dolasıyla O'na ulaşmayı düşünüyorsanız, "Hüve"ye ulaşmayı düşünüyorsanız, bir yönüyle "Ene"den vazgeçerek, esasen O'nda erimeye bakacaksınız.
Sufi's call this, 'annihilation in God', then they say 'attainment to permanence through permanence of God' and to 'live by God with God'. Buna Sofîler, "Fenâ fişşeyh", sonra "Fenâ firrasûl", sonra "Fenâfillah, bekâbillah maallah" diyorlar.
First and foremost, a sturdy guide. Evvelâ sağlam bir mürşîd; sağlam;
If you swear allegiance to a guide who is not sturdy, you will be led astray. Sağlam olmayan mürşide el verirseniz, yolunuzu sarpa uğratır:
'Do not adhere to a random guide, lest he takes you through steep paths; "Her mürşide el verme ki, yolunu sarpa uğratır
Those who walk behind a true guide, surely take a path of much ease.' Mürşidi kâmil olanın, gayet yolu âsân imiş."
People who with their mimics, creases on their skin, their eyes, and both comparatively, in shape and form, and however you would look at them remind you of God. Temsiliyle, hâliyle ve neresine bakarsanız bakınız edasıyla, âdeta "lafz-ı celâle" yazılmış gibi, hep Allah'ı gösteren insanlar; yüz çizgilerinde, mimiklerinde, yüz hareketlerinde, gözlerinin irisinde, kulak kabartmalarında, dil-dudak hareketlerinde, hep "Allah." diyen insanlar.
The perfected spiritual guide: Mürşid-i kâmil;
Such is he that you will take him for a guide, and may God protect us from it, it will be as if you are following in the steps of Bal'am bin Ba'ura or Barsisa. Öylesi de vardır ki, "mürşîd" diye arkasına düşersiniz, hafizanallah, Bel'am İbn Bâûrâ'nın veyahut da Bersîsa'nın arkasına düşmüş olursunuz.
You will call him a caliph and stand after him, may God protect us from it; however, Satan on his path will make you suffer tremendously. "Halife." der, birisinin arkasına düşersiniz, hafizanallah; fakat sizi şeytan yolunda, şeytan patikalarında sürüm sürüm hale getirir.
You will be tired, feeble and not be able to move forward towards the Sun and you will be hindered by your shadow which you will worship.
For this reason 'Say (to them O Messenger): Bu açıdan da "Ey Rasûlüm, onlara de:
If you love God, then follow me İçinizde Allah sevgisi var ise, bana uyun, tâbi olun bana.
so that God loves you too.' Tâbi olun ki Allah da sizi sevsin;
In a way, 'love' is a means to love, when I say God induces love from love, I do not mean that this is an ordinary or simple condition; I mean that this is an intermediary for the ultimate purpose.
It is not me who said this first. Ee onu biz demiyoruz ki:
Does not God place Prophet's name next to His in the statement 'There is no deity but God and Muhammad is the Messenger of God'? "La ilahe illallah, Muhammedu'r-Rasulullah" Allah, nâm-ı celîl-i İlahî ile O'nun adını yan yana getirmiş mi getirmemiş mi?
As narrated in stories, Prophet Adam, peace be upon him, did not raise his head up for forty years. Menkıbelerde anlatıldığına göre, Hazreti Âdem (aleyhisselam) kırk sene boyunca başını yukarıya doğru kaldırmamış.
Then he remembered to say, 'O God! Neden sonra aklına gelmiş, "Allah'ım.
Forgive me for the sake of my grandson, the noble Messenger of God, the sacred fruit of the sacred tree.' Beni, torunum olan, o şecere-i mübârekenin semere-i mübârekesi Hazreti Muhammed Mustafa'ya bağışla."
Then he was forgiven. Bağışlamış.
When they asked him, 'How did you know him?' He said, 'When I was distanced from Paradise, I turned back and on the door of Paradise, I saw the statement, 'There is no deity but God and Muhammad is the Messenger of God. "Sen O'nu nereden biliyorsun?" hitabına mukabil, "Ben Cennet'ten uzaklaştırıldığımda, döndüm, Cennet'in kapısına -ne ve nasıl ise orası- baktım; baktım ki "La ilahe illallah, Muhammedu'r-Rasulullah"yazılı.
His blessed name was put next to the Majestic Name, so I realised his value in the sight of God.' Nâm-ı Celîlinin yanına O'nun mübarek adını koyduğuna göre, nezd-i Ulûhiyetinde O'nun kıymetini anladım." diyor.
For this reason, we do not know how to explain 'love', we say, 'It is an intermediary for the ultimate purpose'.
If you love and follow him, you will follow what actually needs to be followed. O'nu severseniz, O'na uyarsanız, esas uymanız gerekli olana uymuş olursunuz.
And whoever you love will love you as well Dolasıyla sevmek istediğiniz de sizi sever.
If He loves you, you will love Him as well.
Love comes from high up. Sevgi, yukarıdan gelir.
If He unveils Himself as 'He who truly returns repentance', you will turn to him as 'seekers' and repent.
'The hands should hold each other "Kenetlenmeli artık eller bir biriyle
and we should walk towards the happy future hand in hand, Ve yürümeli mutlu geleceğe, el ele,
"Our God is one, our Prophet is one, our Religion is one, our faith is one;" 'Allah bir, peygamber bir, din bir, diyanet bir;'
shall say everyone with a voice from the bottom of their hearts.' Deyip gürlemeli herkes, gönülden bir ses ile."
The statement in the third line is a call for brotherhood by the Honourable Sage Bediüzzaman. O, üçüncü mısradaki ifade, Hazreti Pîr-i Mugân'ın, Uhuvvet Risalesi'nde, kardeşliğe çağrı mesajı.
He calls us to brotherhood with all the people around the world. Bizi, dünyadaki bütün insanlarla böyle bir kardeşliğe çağırıyor.
They will directly be 'brothers', 'friends', 'allies', 'supporters'. And all of these will be gains in the way of our noble Prophet. Doğrudan doğruya "kardeş" olacaklar, "dost" olacaklar, "taraftar" olacaklar, "sempatizan" olacaklar; Ve hepsi Efendimiz'in yolunda birer kazanım sayılacak.
Whichever of these God Almighty bestows on us, we see this as a great honour, and give thanks.
However though, we will not have thanked sufficiently. Thus we will give thanks again, and give thanks for that thanks too. Yine de şükrünü edâ etmiş sayılmayız, yine şükrederiz, şükre de şükrederiz.
As Zayn al-Abidin says, we give thanks for the ability and act of giving thanks, and we thus give constant thanks. Hazreti Zeynülâbidîn'in dediği gibi, şükre de şükrederiz, hep şükreder oturur, şükreder kalkarız.
May God include us among those who give thanks, and those who praise Him. Cenâb-ı Hak, bizi "şâkirîn"den, "hâmidîn"den eylesin.
The Noble Spirit of the Master of Humankind calls his circle 'my friends', 'my companions', 'my mates, comrades, fellows, colleagues, associates'. Onun için, Hazreti Rûh-u Seyyidi'l-enâm, kendi hâlesine "Arkadaşlarım." diyor, "Ashabım." diyor, "yol arkadaşlarım, dava arkadaşlarım, mefkûre arkadaşlarım, gâye-i hayal arkadaşlarım." manasına.
At the same time, he foreshadows the coming of a time in the future when all things will be lost, the duty of exalting the Name of God is neglected, and even people who say, 'I believe in God' will do things that will make Satan cheer. Diğer taraftan, her şeyin bittiği, boyunduruğun yere konduğu, "Allah'a inandım." diyen insanların bile şeytana zil taktırıp oynattıkları bir dönemin geleceğini haber veriyor.
The Messenger of God calls this time 'the time of disorder and corruption', and those that set out to make things right 'the reformers', Bu döneme, Allah Rasûlü, Kitabü'l-Fiten ve'l-Melâhim'de "Fesat dönemi" diyor ve o dönemde ıslah için paça sıvayanları da "Islahçı"lar olarak müjdeliyor.
'Glad tidings to those the forlorn ones. "O gariplere muştular olsun.
When society becomes corrupt and improper, they will endeavour to repair the destruction and reform the corruption.' Halkın kendini bozgunculuğa saldığı bir dönemde onlar ellerinden geldiğince tahribatı tamire, fesadı ıslaha çalışırlar."
'Those strange ones that do not leave their pure endeavours, whilst some deal in corruption and bribery, spend money extravagantly, try to shut down institutions established for good purposes, O garipler ki, bazı kimselerin bozgunculuk yaptığı, her yerde gezip-dolaşıp etek etek para döktüğü, "Aman, hayır adına yapılan şu müesseseleri kapatın.
and say, "Let's shut down these institutions based on truth and distinguished values of the evident religion of Islam, Din-i Mübîn-i İslam adına şehbal açmış hakikatler müessesesini kapatın.
these institutions in which your flag is represented, Bayrağınızın dalgalandığı yerleri kapatın.
and disperse the people who have clustered around these institutions. Oralarda kümelenen insanları dağıtın.
'and hand them over to incompetent and undeserving people"'.   Onları o işin kadrini bilmeyen insanlara verin." dediği bir dönemde ıslahtan ayrılmazlar.
Others spend lavishly, give bribes, please Satan, devastate the residents of the High Assembly, and engage in actions that attract Divine wrath. Diğerleri, etek etek para dökmek suretiyle şeytanı sevindirecek, Mele-i A'lânın sakinlerini üzüntüye gark edecek ve gazab-ı İlahîyi celp edecek işler yapıyorlar.
They do not think that the afflictions and troubles will come back to bite them.
They carry on without any wisdom, foresight. You could call them 'the people of carnality'. Meseleleri görmeden, körü körüne öyle bir yolda yürüyorlar ki, işte bunlara "Âdem-i Hayvânî" denir.
What they utter with their tongues is not the voice of their hearts, this is not the sounds a heart pierced with faith will produce, rather their words are only sounds produced by the tongue for the purpose of manipulating and deceiving its audience. Dillerinden dökülen, onların kalblerinin sesi değildir, inanç mızrabı ile mızraplanmış kalbin dile-dudağa aksetmiş sesi değildir; sadece dilin-dudağın, kandırmaca, başkalarını aldatmaya matuf sesidir:
'There is no deity but God, and Muhammad is the Messenger of God'. "La ilahe illallah, Muhammedu'r-Rasulullah".
But what can you do. We are Muslims, we may ourselves be deceived but we will never ourselves deceive.
One should not look for comfort in seclusion and living alone in retreat, but should be a person amongst the people, and should be able to say, 'Whatever, let it be' in the face of torment, insults, and vicious strikes. "Halvetî" deyip, esas rahatını halvette, tek başına yaşamada arama değil, hadisin ifadesiyle, insanların içinde bulunma, otağını insanların göbeğine kurma, eziyet görme, hakaret görme, balyozlar yeme, ama "Olsun." deme;
Would it be more suitable to say that the Pride of Humanity was honoured by the Ascension, or that Paradise was honoured by His visit.
Which should we say? Hangisini diyelim?
'He was honoured by seeing God Almighty, but Paradise was honoured by seeing Him.' "O (sallallâhu aleyhi ve sellem), Cenâb-ı Hakk'ı görmek ile şereflendirildi ama Cennetler de O'nu (sallallâhu aleyhi ve sellem) görmekle şereflendi."
Consider it like that. Öyle deyin.
It was the eighth year of His Prophethood, the troubles had become unbearable. Bi'set-i Seniyyenin sekizinci senesi; Izdırap gırtlağa kadar gelmiş.
They had only recently become free of the boycott against all believers. Şi'b-i Ebî Tâlip'ten yeni sıyrılmışlar.
No water, no food, no freedom to plant crops or set up tents. Boykot; su yok, ekmek yok, çardak kurma yok, çadır yok.
Everyone from Banu Hashim left suffering in the scorching heat of the dessert, forced to live there. Çölün altında, sıcakta, beyin kaynatan sıcakta; bütün Beni Hâşim, orada yaşamaya mahkûm.
And right at a moment when the torture had worsened, three people arose, like the people who are extending their helping hand to you today.
They are yet to announce their faith by saying, 'There is no deity but God, and Muhammad is the Messenger of God', but they have a conscience. Henüz "La ilahe illallah, Muhammedu'r-Rasulullah" deme kanatlarıyla kanatlanamamış insanlar; fakat vicdanları var.
They pull out their swords, gather their supporters, and announce 'We are here to put an end to this suffering!' and gather people to say 'Enough is enough!'
Just like the people all over the world today, in America, England, Germany, The Netherlands, France, and Africa exclaiming 'Enough!' Bugün dünyanın dört bir yanında Amerika'da, İngiltere'de, Almanya'da, Hollanda'da, Fransa'da ve Afrika'nın değişik ülkelerinde "Yeter." diyen insanlar gibi;
By the way, it has been some countries of the Islamic world that have been tricked. Bu arada, aldanan, İslam dünyasının bazı ülkeleri oldu.
They have been tricked; they thought Satan was actually as human being. Aldandılar; şeytanı, insan sandılar.
For, Zira
'The heart is always in search for a loyal lover "İnsan, her zaman arar durur bir yâr-ı sâdık
Sometimes the one they call 'loyal' is revealed as a hypocrite.' Bazen de sâdık dedikleri, çıkar münâfık."
They were tricked; they were destroyed in their desires. Aldandılar; o bâzîçede yandılar.
Why? Neden?
They fell for the games of Satan. Şeytana kandılar.
They picked up their axes and tools, and did whatever they can to destroy a great movement towards truth that had been worked on by some people for many years, of which the foundations were set about a hundred years ago, in fact, whose origin lies approximately one thousand four hundred years ago. Dolayısıyla ellerine birer balta aldılar, manivela aldılar; birilerinin senelerden beri, elli seneden beri ikâme etmeye çalıştıkları ve bir manada temeli yüz sene öncesine, bir manada esas temeli/çekirdeği/nüvesi bin dört yüz küsur sene öncesine dayanan bir hakikat-ı uzmâyı yıkmaya durdular.
They did whatever they could to stop the progress of this great truth, they tried to cut it all down before its fruits could be collected. Onun bir şecere-i mübâreke haline gelmesini, bir semere-i mübareke verecek hale gelmesini baltalamak için, yok etmek için, âdetâ ocaklara atıp yakmak için ellerinden gelen her şeyi yapmaya koyuldular.
These are the soldiers of Satan who continue to crawl as the people of carnality. Bunlar, "Âdem-i Hayvânî"de emekleyip duran, "asâkir-i şeytaniye"dir.
We say, 'My Lord. Biz, "Ya Rabbî.
I seek refuge in the whispers of Satan and from them being in my presence' (Al-Mu'minun, 23:97-98) refers to the seeking of protection from Almighty God from the 'Satans and jinn'.
My Lord! Allah'ım.
Keep us away from them. Bizi, onlardan uzak eyle.
Thousands of praises and glorification unto to you that we are not on the same side as them. Sana binlerce hamd ü senâ olsun ki, bizi onlarla beraber bulundurmamışsın.
You have separated us and placed us in the path of the Prophets. Bizi ayırmışsın, Peygamberler yoluna sevk etmişsin.
Yes, the path of the 'people of the Prophets' or the path of the 'people of carnality'; may thousands of praise and glorification be to God. Evet, "Âdem-i Nebevî" yolu; "Âdem-i Hayvanî" yolu; Allah'a binlerce hamd ü senâ olsun.
May God give our hearts satisfaction in His remembrance and invocation; if we are to describe this in its true essence; may He make us steadfast. Allah, Kendisini zikretmek ile kalblerimize itmi'nan versin; -öz Türkçesi ile ifade edecek olursak- oturaklaşma versin.
May He protect us from being of those who complain in the face of trials and tribulations that we currently face. Maruz kaldığımız, gördüğümüz belâ ve musibetler karşısında şikâyet etme durumuna düşürmesin.
May He protect us from questioning His Divine decree. Kadere taş attırmasın.
To not say, 'Why did such a thing befall us?' "Neden bu böyle oldu?" dedirtmesin.
Absolutely, Mutlaka,
'In whatever He does, there is wisdom, "Her işte hikmeti vardır
He does nothing in vain, Abes fiil işlemez Allah.
No one can ever compel Him O'na bir kimse cebr ile
To do something Bir iş işletemez asla.
Whatever He Himself wills to create, Ne kim Kendi murad eder
It comes into existence' says Ibrahim Haqqi of Erzurum in his work, Tawhidnama. Vücuda ol gelir billah" diyor, İbrahim Hakkı hazretleri, Tevhidnâme'sinde.
May God Almighty keep you steadfast in this mindset and feeling.
May he also keep me, as lowly as I am, amongst your company. Ve sizin aranızda kuyruk sallayarak gezen Kıtmîr'i de size bağışlasın.
May God Almighty allow him to be taken along with you to the Noble Spirit of the Master of Humankind. Beraber, onun elinden tutup Hazreti Rûh-u Seyyidi'l-enâm'ın yanına götürmeye muvaffak eylesin.
Now that boycott the Prophet faced was such a painful thing.
In the eighth year of Prophethood; there was not a thing that they did not endure. Bi'set-i Seniyye'nin sekizinci senesi; çekilmedik şey kalmamış.
Abu Talib passed away a little after the boycott began. Ebu Tâlib, ondan az sonra, o boykottan az sonra vefat etmiş.
Abu Talib, the uncle who opened up his bosom to our noble Prophet... Ebu Tâlib ki, Efendimiz'e bağrını açan amca;
When I think of it, I feel such sorrow and anguish. Benim aklıma gelince, öyle acıyorum ki.
I feel like crying like Abu Bakr. Hazreti Ebu Bekir gibi ağlamak geliyor içimden.
When he held the hand of Abu Quhafa and took him next to the noble Prophet and said, 'O Messenger. Ebu Kuhâfe'nin elinden tutup Efendimiz'in yanına getirdiğinde, "Yâ Rasûlallah.
I wish that Abu Talib was in the place of my father.' Babamın yerinde Ebu Tâlib'in olmasını çok arzu ederdim." demişti o.
And I say the same. Bir o kadar da benden al.
But he could not say this with his tongue. Ama diliyle diyemedi.
What it was I do not know. O ne idi, bilemem.
There was not another soul who protected the noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, like he did, but he could not say it with his tongue.
But the mercy of my Lord is vast; he will not leave him without compensation.
Whoever are those who open their bosom to you today, may God also compensate them too.
Wherever they may keep it, wherever they are, may God not leave them without reward. Nerede tutarsa tutsun, otağlarını nereye koyarlarsa koysunlar, Allah, onları da mükâfatsız bırakmasın.
In a way that distress eliminated her immune system, and our blessed mother passed away shortly after it.
Now you may choose to refer to the Honourable Fatima as our mother. Şimdi Hazreti Fâtıma'ya "Anamız." dersiniz.
  Neden?
Because she is the mother of all rightful heirs of the message; the mother of Hasan, Husayn, Zayn al-Abidin; but she also had a mother. Çünkü bütün velilerin anası; Hasan'ın, Hüseyin'in, Zeynülâbidîn'in anası; O ananın da bir anası var:
The Great Khadija... Hadîcetü'l-Kübrâ.
'Khadija' means the one born early; there is such a connection between her name and how early she awoke to Islam. "Hadîce", erken doğan demek; ismi ile müslümanlığa erken uyanması arasında öyle bir örtüşme var ki.
Not only that, they also called her 'al-Kubra', which means the great. A woman greater than the greatest.
She also passed away once her immune system fell apart by the boycott.
Despite being a time of great hardship, look what it gave birth to: Şi'b-i Ebî Tâlib, bağrında neyi doğurmuş, onca sıkıntıya rağmen?
It helped the Prophet reach 'A Distance of Two Bows' Length', a distance like that between Divine existence and contingency, it helped him reach a summit like no other.
It also gave birth to guidance and a path for all of the community of Muhammad to reach that summit. Ümmet-i Muhammed'e de o noktaya giden o güzergâhı göstermeyi doğurmuş.
At a time when the believers still could not even prostrate in front of the Ka'ba due to the vicious oppression of the non-believers. At a time when the problems would come like logs falling upon His head one after the other, God Almighty graces him with the Ascension.
God honours him by showing His very own Beauty and Perfectness, by calling him, 'My Beloved', and by saying to him, 'Go and call My servants here, too.' Kendi cemâl-i bâ-kemâlini göstermekle, O'na "Habibim." demekle, "Git, kullarımı da buraya çağır." demekle şereflendiriyor.
And God Almighty also honours His servants with the gift of five Daily Prayers during the Ascension: Ve O'nun armağan olarak omuzuna alıp getirip ümmetine armağan ettiği beş vakit namaz ile onları da şereflendiriyor:
'This is your way. "Bu, senin yolun.
Those who also follow you on this way will also reach Me.'
The Five Prescribed Prayers... Beş vakit namaz.
It must not be forgotten that 'Heights will be reached by the extent of hardship'. Unutulmamalıdır ki, "Meşakkat ölçüsünde yükseklikler elde edilir."
This is a rule of the Ottoman code of civil law: Mecellenin kuralı olarak zikredilir:
'The more you invest, the more you profit.' "Ne kadar cereme, o kadar kazanım."
We may voice the issue as such. Bu şekilde meseleyi dillendirebilirsiniz.
However much you invest, however much you suffer, that is how much you will profit; 'The most difficult of hardships were given to the great Messengers, then to the servants that God loves, and then to His other servants depending on their level.'
Let us be of those on the path of the people of the Prophet, the humane ones. Âdem-i Nebevî yolunda olanlara, "Âdem-i İnsanî" yolunda olanlara.
May God protect us from being of those on the path of the superficial people and people of carnality. Allah, "Âdem-i sûrî" ve "Âdem-i hayvanî" yolunda olanlardan eylemesin.
So many difficulties were experienced but such rewards were gained as a result of those hardships that even if you were presented with the whole world, it would only be an atom compared to the reward.
You are going to see what has been prepared for you and you are going to say: Siz de göreceğinizi göreceksiniz ve diyeceksiniz ki:
'My Lord. "Allah'ım.
We would constantly thank You and praise You; how fortunate it is for us that You did not bring us together with those evildoers.
The world was smiling at them; and they were singing and dancing before the world. Dünya onlara gülüyordu; onlar da dünya karşısında şakıyıp oynuyorlardı.
However, we were going through some distress, but so be it. Biz ise, bazı sıkıntılar çekiyorduk ama olsun.
All of that has turned into some joke compared to the things we hear and do now; they have become things to narrate as delightful stories. Şimdi duyup-ettiğimiz şeyler yanında, onların hepsi birer fıkra haline geldi; anlatılacak, gülünecek, tatlı tatlı hikâyeler halinde nakledilecek şeyler oldu.
Now it seems that those wounds and bruises have become remedies and cures.'
You are going to say so and you are going to sit opposite each other; you are going to chat with one another and talk about that state of the world; you are going reminisce. Böyle diyeceksiniz ve karşılıklı koltuklara oturacaksınız; birbirinizle sohbet edecek ve o ahvâl-i dünyeviyeyi birbirinize anlatacaksınız; hep anlatacaksınız.
'Our Lord, grant us in the world what is good, and in the Hereafter what is good, and protect us from the punishment of the Fire'. "Rabbimiz, bize dünyada da (Sen'in nezdinde) iyi ve güzel her ne ise onu, Âhiret'te de (yine Sen'in indinde) iyi ve güzel olan ne ise onu ver ve bizi Ateş'in azabından koru.
'And include us in Paradise, among Your righteous servants.
With the intercession of the most prominent Prophet, for the sake of his immaculate family members and auspicious Companions; peace  be upon them, so long as day and night continue.' Seçkinlerden seçkin Peygamber'inin şefaatiyle, O'nun tertemiz aile fertleri ve hayırlı ashâbı hürmetine; Salât ü selam olsun onlara, gece ve gündüz devam ettiği sürece."
Amen. Âmin.
