The Sour Face of Calamities and the Beautiful Countenance of Wisdom

‘The fire will not touch the feet of someone who has walked on the path to God’, says the Master of Speech and the noble Spirit of the Master of Humankind, peace and blessings be upon him. “Ayaklar, Allah’a giden yollarda şayet tozumuş ise, toza maruz kalmış ise, katiyen, ateş onlara dokunmaz” buyuruyor, sözü sözlerin sultanı olan İnsanlığın Sultanı, Hazreti Ruh u Seyyidi’l-enâm (sallallâhu aleyhi ve sellem).
If God wills, this is your road. İnşaallah, sizin yolunuz.
To attribute superiority and success based on your relations with certain people of high virtues would be making bold claims. Aidiyet mülahazasıyla, fezâili, şöyle-böyle mensubiyet içinde bulunduğumuz kimselere bağlamak ve onlarda görmek de iddia olur.
That is why we should leave this issue to the All-Glorified One’s will and say, ‘If God wills it’. Onun için meseleyi meşîet-i İlâhiyeye havale ederek “inşaallah” demek lazım.
We should say, ‘What wonders God has willed!’ to the things He has provided us with, while saying, ‘If God wills’ to the things He may provide for us in the future.
If He wills... Dilerse.
‘God does whatever He wills (Ibrahim, 14:27). “Allah, her ne dilerse onu yapar.
Assuredly, God decrees as He wills (Al-Maeda, 5:1). Şüphesiz Allah dilediği hükmü verir ve onu infaz eder.
Whatever God wills will exist and occur, whatever He decrees not to come into existence will not. Allah neyi dilerse, o mutlaka olur; O’nun olmamasını dilediği de asla olmaz.
And I believe that God Almighty is The All-Powerful and surely, God encompasses everything in terms of knowledge.’
Yes, whatever He wills happens; whatever He wills not to come into existence will not. Evet, O, neyi dilerse, olur; olmamasını dilediği de olmaz.
He has power over everything. O, her şeye kâdirdir.
A sentence which is added to supplications is: Dualarda ilave edilen bir cümle de şu:
‘Everything that seems difficult, is easy and basic in the sight of God’ “Zor gibi görülen bütün şeyler, nezd-i Ulûhiyette gayet kolay, basit şeylerdir.”
The All-Majestic One rules through the counter of creation. “Kün-fekân” tezgâhına hükmeden Zât-ı Ecell u A’lâ.
When He says, ‘Be’, His will occurs immediately. “Kef-Nûn” diye ifade ediyorlar; “Kün” deyiverince, dilediği hemen oluverir.
Using the word ‘Be’ may be interpreted as simplifying the matter, however, it is like turning an ignition key, immediately activating the systems set in place by Him. Onun ile meseleyi ifade etmek, meseleyi basite ircâ olabilir ama kontak anahtarına dokunma gibi; O’nun kurduğu sistem, birden bire harekete geçiyor.
An ‘instant’ as a concept of time is not in the question. “An”, söz konusu değil.
However, in certain matters, from the perspective of Divine Will, this creation is spread over time. Fakat bazı meselelerde âdet-i Sübhâniye açısından mesele zamana yayılmış oluyor.
For example, the geological formation periods over millions of years are part of Divine Customs. Mesela, Jeolojik dönemler, milyonlarca sene, âdet-i Sübhâniye.
In the end, God creates Prophet Adam, our noble ancestor, using mud from the petrified earth, and he settles in Paradise with his light emitting body. En sonunda tahaccür eden arz üzerinde, Allah (celle celâluhu) ondan aldığı çamurdan/hamurdan, cedd-i emcedimizi, Hazreti Âdem’i yaratıyor; vücûd-i necm-i nûrânîsi itibarıyla, Cennet’te iskân buyuruyor.
However, since he reaches out to the forbidden fruit, he is sent back to where his mud came from. Fakat memnu’ meyveye el uzatmasıyla, O’nu, hamurunun/çamurunun alındığı yere gönderiyor.
There is no doubt that Prophet Adam being sent to the Earth is not futile. Şüphesiz Hazreti Âdem’in dünyaya gönderilmesi de boş değil.
‘The wisdom of the true tree is “Hakikî şecerenin hikmeti
the Noble Muhammad’s arrival in this world.’ Dünyaya gele Muhammed Hazreti.”
If Adam had not returned, neither Noah, Hud, Salih and Moses, neither Jesus, and the Sultan of the Prophets, the emerald of all respected sages, the noble Spirit of the Master of Humankind would have existed.
Peace and blessings be upon our Master and all of them. (Alâ seyyidinâ ve aleyhimüsselam.)
The couplet I mentioned is from the Imam of Alvar: Söylediğim manzum beyit, Alvar İmamı Muhammed Lütfî Efendi’ye ait:
‘The wisdom of the true tree is “Hakikî şecerenin hikmeti
the Noble Muhammad’s arrival in this world.’ Dünyaya gele Muhammed Hazreti.”
Yes, the true wisdom of creation is the Noble Muhammad’s arrival in this world, peace and blessings be upon him. Evet, hakikî şecerenin hikmeti, dünyaya gele Muhammed Hazreti (sallallâhu aleyhi ve sellem).
Yet, this creation can be tied to a lapse or sometimes could be related to other events.
But, with the lapse of Prophet Adam, Almighty God granted such a grace: Fakat Hazreti Âdem’in o zellesine Cenâb-ı Hak öyle bir lütufta bulunuyor ki.
The result was a sacred fruit that could embrace all of humanity and lead them to God, that could open up the hearts of all of entire humanity to Him, that could make hearts meet Him; resulting in ‘a sacred tree’, ‘a sacred fruit’, named Prophet Muhammad Mustafa, peace and blessings be upon him. Bütün insanlığı kucaklayabilecek, kucaklayıp O’na (celle celâluhu) yönlendirebilecek, bütün insanlığın kalbini O’na açabilecek, gönüller ile O’nun buluşmasını sağlayabilecek bir “semere-i mübâreke”yi netice veriyor; Hazreti Muhammed Mustafa isminde (sallallâhu aleyhi ve sellem) bir “şecere-i mübâreke”yi, bir “semere-i mübâreke”yi netice veriyor.
‘Everything is from You, You are the Self Sufficient, “Her şey Sen’den, Sen ganisin
My Lord, I have turned to You. Rabbim Sana döndüm yüzüm.
You are the First and the Last, Hem evvelsin hem âhirsin
My Lord, I have turned to You.’ Rabbim Sana döndüm yüzüm.”
When faces turn towards Him, those faces will never darken. Yüzler, O’na (celle celâluhu) müteveccih olduğu zaman, o yüzler, hiçbir zaman kararmaz.
When faces turn towards others, even if they are angels, they will be covered in darkness.
If those angels are loved because of Him, that’s another matter; aside from that, a face would be wasting itself turning towards things other than God. O melekler, O’ndan ötürü seviliyorsa, o ayrı bir mesele; fakat onun dışında, Allah’a teveccühten başka, doğrudan doğruya, evvelen ve bizzat neye müteveccih olursa olsun, yüz, teveccüh israfı yaşar.
‘We are the losers of this game once again; “Eyvah bu bâzîçede bizler yine yandık
For the loss is obvious, but I don’t know what we won’ (Ziya Pasha).
We turned towards so and so, and put ourselves in the fire. Falana baktık, filana baktık; kendimizi ateşe yaktık.
Those who worship this world, who are in pursuit of worldly desires, who use Islam and its auspicious rules as a tool for worldly sovereignty, do more harm than Satan.
Those that use religion, I believe, do more harm to people than Satan.
Yes, one’s vision must always be turned towards their Lord. Evet, yüzler, hep O’na müteveccih olmalı.
In order to be clean and purified both here in this world and the next we must always turn towards Him. Burada ak olmak için, orada ak olmak için, dünyada, ukbâda kaybetmemek için, hep O’na müteveccih olmalı.
As I tried to express this, in my humble opinion, in texts and speeches, I said, ‘One’s face must be turned towards the sun; so that one’s shadow falls behind them’. Bunu ifade ederken, min gayri haddin, yazılarda da sözlerde de, “Yüzler, güneşe müteveccih olmalı; gölge, arkaya alınmalı” dedim.
When we turn our back towards the sun, we will be caught in our shadow just as the worldly people do. Sırtımızı güneşe döndüğümüz zaman, gölgemize takılmış oluruz ehl-i dünya gibi.
We may yell, ‘O Lord’ or ‘O Messenger’, but because we are servants of the shadows; until we become the complete servants of the Lord, we won’t be able to escape the many other distractions that we were in servitude to. “Allah” diye bağırırız, “Peygamber” diye bağırırız ama gölgenin kullarıyızdır biz; O’na tam kul olacağımız âna kadar da elli türlü kulluktan sıyrılamayız.
There is only one direct and straight path to escape the many distractions, and be in total servitude to the Lord. Elli türlü, yüz türlü kulluktan sıyrılmanın bir tek müstakîm yolu vardır; O’na kul olma, tam, gönülden.
To live one’s life in accordance to their Lord, or in the least, with utmost consideration of His presence. Hayatını hep O’nun tarafından -lâakal- görülüyor olma mülahazasına bağlayarak sürdürme.
To sit, stand, eat, drink, look, hug in this manner, to embrace and greet in such a manner. Öyle oturma, öyle kalkma, öyle yatma, öyle yeme, öyle içme, öyle bakma, öyle kucaklaşma, öyle muânakada bulunma, öyle musâfahada bulunma.
To speak in accordance to this, to move one’s lips in accordance to this. Dilini öyle döndürme, dudaklarını öyle hareket ettirme.
So that all things relate to Him, or are due to Him. Hep O’ndan ötürü veya hep O olmalı diyeceğimiz şeyler.
Even when speaking of worldly matters, to bring the topic back to Him. Dünya konuşurken bile, bence, evirip çevirmeli, kâfiyesini getirip yine O’nun ile bağlamalı.
As Ibrahim Haqqi mentions in his teachings on the Oneness and Unity of God: İbrahim Hakkı hazretlerinin Tevhidnâme’sinde dediği gibi:
‘My Lord is the true Deity; my Prophet is the truthful Prophet Muhammad. “Hudâ Rabbim, nebim hakkâ Muhammed’dir Rasûlullah.
My religion is Islam; my Book is the Word of God. Hem İslâm Dîni’dir dinim, kitabımdır Kelâmullâh.
My creed is the Sunni way of belief. Akâid içre Ehl-i Sünnet oldu mezhebim cem’a.
In practice, I vow to hold tightly to the Hanafi school. Amelde Bû Hanîfe mezhebidir mezhebim, vallâh.
I am from the progeny of the noble Prophet Adam. Dahi zürriyyetiyem Hazreti Âdem nebinin.
Mine is the family of Abraham, my direction is the house of God, the Ka’ba. Halîl’in hem milletiyem, dahi kıblem Kâbe, Beytullah.
My Lord has no equals, peers, rivals, or opposites, Bulunmaz Rabbimin zıddı ve niddi, misli âlemde,
Exempt from any physical representation, sacred is the Almighty God. Ve suretten münezzehtir, mukaddestir Teâlallah.
He has no partners, and is distinct from begetting and being begotten. Şerîki yok, berîdir doğmadan doğurmadan ancak
He is Unique, having no equal; He mentions these in the Chapter Al-Ikhlas’. Ehad’dir, küfvü yok, ‘İhlâs’ içinde zikreder Allah.”
‘Say: “De ki:
He, God, the Unique One of Absolute Unity. O, Allah’tır, gerçek İlahtır.
God, the Eternally-Besought-of-All (Himself in no need of anything). Allah Samed’dir.
He begets not, nor is He begotten. Ne doğurdu, ne de doğuruldu.
And comparable to Him there is none’ (Al-Ikhlas, 112:1-4).
The rhythm of one’s expressions, their actions and lip movements must rhyme with Him. Beyanların, hareketlerin, dil-dudak oynatmaların kâfiyesi O olmalı.
As all expressions arrange themselves into poetic verse, it is the rhythm that belongs to Him, that relates to Him.
If you wish, you may say it like this: İsterseniz şöyle diyebilirsiniz:
It must be the Prophet that clearly shows Him, for he is crucial means to reach the ultimate goal.
If he (the noble Prophet) didn't exist, we would not know Him (God). O (sallallâhu aleyhi ve sellem) olmasaydı, O’nu (celle celâluhu) bilemezdik.
We write ‘he’ in lower case even though it is so profound, and the second in capitals as that ‘He’ rules the entire universe.
The word ‘Huwa or Hu’ (He) represents him, for that reason they repeat that word three times: Onu “Hüve” ifade ediyor; onun için onu üç defa tekrar ediyorlar:
They say, ‘Hu, Hu, Hu’. “Hû, Hû, Hû” diyorlar.
Amongst the Naqshis and the Qadiris, one of the constant recitations is the recitation of ‘Hu’. Nakşîlerde, Kâdirîlerde -bir yönüyle- virtte -esasen- vird-i zebân edilen hususlardan bir tanesi hep “Hû” çekmektir.
In a way He is the voice of the heart, similar to breathing, similar to the way carbon-dioxide is released and oxygen inhaled. In one’s personal life it is like a call to the life after death, the word ‘Hu’ is a sign of revival.
Because when you say ‘Hu’, it tramples over the ‘I’, the ‘self’, the poor ‘I’ cannot be seen anymore. Çünkü “Hû” dediğiniz zaman, o “ene”nin, “ben”in üzerine çullanıyor; zavallı “ene” görülmüyor artık.
It holds the self within a cuff or a choker, until it cries, ‘Leave me already!’
‘No, I cannot let go because when I do, I do not know where you will go, whom you will seek and abode with, therefore I cannot let go’. “Hayır, bırakmam; senin yakanı bıraktığım zaman, senin nereye gideceğin, nereye aborda olacağın belli değil, bırakmam senin yakanı.”
Hu... Hû.
It must be constantly be on our tongues. İnsanın vird-i zebânı, o olmalı.
The last letter of the exalted Name of Allah is ‘ha’, which is ‘Hu’. Zaten, Lafza-i celâlin son harfi de “he”dir, yani Hû.
There are separate meanings in the letters ‘alif’, ‘ha’ and ‘lam’ in the exalted Name of God (Allah) Lafza-i Celâldeki “elif”e ayrı mana vermişler, “lam”lara ayrı mana vermişler, “he”ye ayrı mana vermişler.
According to the system of Abjad, it is said that two counts of the rosary contains the number 66. Ebcedinin “tesbihin iki sayısı kadar, 66” olduğunu söylemişler.
The exalted Name of Allah. Lafza-i celâl.
In a way, everything is related to it, they have deducted so many meanings from the holy and sacred word ‘Allah’ attributed to it. Bir yönüyle her şey ona bağlı gidiyor; ne manalar, ne manalar ona atfetmişler; ne manalar ne manalar istinbat etmişler “Allah” kelime-i mukaddese-i mübârekesinden.
Allah, may He be glorified and exalted... Allah (celle celâluhu).
Back to the main topic: Geriye dönelim:
We should relate everything we say and do to Him; He should be the rhyme to all our actions, the rhyme to all efforts, the rhyme to all words. Diyeceğimiz-edeceğimiz her şeyi O’na (celle celâluhu) bağlamalı; O, hayattaki bütün davranışların kâfiyesi, bütün gayretlerin kâfiyesi, bütün beyanların kâfiyesi olmalı.
May God protect us, if this is missing, the world will take the place of this rhyme, power will, dark palaces will, evil souls will, deceivers will, deceived ignorant people, people who think highly of themselves will appear and appropriate this rhyme. Hafizanallah, böyle olmadığı zaman, dünya gelir kâfiyenin yerine oturur; saltanat, kafiyenin yerine oturur; bir kapkara saray, kafiyenin yerine oturur; etrafında gezen kapkara ruhlu insanlar, kâfiyenin yerine oturur; aldatan insanlar, kâfiyenin yerine oturur; aldanmış nâdânlar, kendilerini bir şey bilenler, kâfiyenin yerine oturur.
May God protect us, this is like associating partners with God indirectly, without realising.
God did not only create us, but also made us one of mankind and sent us the Messenger of God as a leader, an advisor, a chief, a vanguard, a guide.
He taught us the right path; the one to be followed, yet we have sometimes walked on the safest, secure middle lane, sometimes on slightly slippery lanes, sometimes on the right or left.
Though we may waiver, walking on the path that the Prophet has opened to us will take us, God willing, to Him. Şöyle-böyle, O’nun (sallallâhu aleyhi ve sellem) açtığı şehrâhta yürüme, inşaallah bizi O’na (celle celâluhu) ulaştıracaktır, Cenâb-ı Hakk’ın inayetiyle.
We should also not be so sure of ourselves; I just remembered the quote from Rumi: İddialı olmamak lazım; Hazreti Mevlânâ’nın sözü hatırıma geldi:
‘Do not insist on a hundred, ninety is sufficient “Yüzde ısrar etme, doksan da olur
What we call a human is also deficient İnsan dediğinde, noksan da olur
Don’t you dare to become haughty, there is more Sakın büyüklenme, elde neler var
Don’t say there is only me, life would go on without you.’ ‘Bir ben varım’ deme, yoksan da olur.”
This verse is from a translation, I think, a translation that is really close to the Persian meaning.
When it comes to walking on that path, no matter which lane we take, as long as it turns us towards Him, acts as a bridge and takes us to Him, I think we should say, ‘All praise and gratitude to God, Who has guided us’. Evet, yürüme o yolun hangi şeridinde olursa olsun, o şeridin ucu O’na müteveccih olunca, O’na taşıyınca sizi/bizi bir köprü gibi, bence hepsine “Hamdolsun, bu yola bizi hidayet eden o Allah’a” (A’râf, 7:43) demeliyiz.
And further to this, we faced such and such afflictions. Ee onun ötesinde, başımıza şu bela geldi, bu bela geldi.
He has caused the assaulters of our time, the tyrants, oppressors, the likes of Amenophis, Ramses, Ibn ash-Shams, Hitler, Lenin, Stalin, Qaddafi and the Saddams of our times to pester and attack you; you are being punished at their hands, vilified and affronted by them. Günün mutasallıtları gibi, mütegallipleri gibi, mütehakkimleri gibi, Amnofisleri gibi, Ramsesleri gibi, İbnü’ş-şemsleri gibi, Hitler’i gibi, Lenin’i gibi, Stalin’i gibi, Kazzafîleri gibi, Saddamları gibi kimseleri size musallat etmiş; onların eliyle ceza görüyorsunuz, hakarete uğruyorsunuz, tahkire maruz kalıyorsunuz.
‘Even though you would not even step on an ant deliberately, you are being portrayed as members of a terrorist organisation. Karıncaya bile -bilerek- basmadığınız halde, “terör örgütü” gibi gösteriliyorsunuz.
They seek (with renewed plans and stratagems) to extinguish God’s light (His favour of Islam, as if by the breath issuing) from their mouths, “Onlar Allah’ın nurunu ağızlarıyla üfleyip söndürmek isterler.
Whereas God refuses but to complete His Light, Allah ise, nurunu tam parlatmaktan başka bir şeye razı olmaz.
However hateful this may be to the unbelievers’ (At-Tawba, 9:32). Ehl-i küfür ve nankörler isterse hoşlanmasınlar” (Tevbe, 9:32).
They attempt to extinguish God’s light, the torch He ignited, by blowing it out. Onlar, Allah’ın nurunu, yaktığı meşaleyi, “Üf, püf” etmekle söndürmeye çalışıyorlar.
But it is such a light, ignited by God, that it will not be extinguished by blowing on it.
All their breaths may do is to darken some minds, corrupt some neurons, and cause them to get sick. Belki kararmaya açık bazı zihinleri karartabilir; bazen nöronlara şerâreler ifrâz edebilirler; az bulantı yaşayabilir onlar.
Even then, this will not last long. One day those people will say, ‘If only’ with regret, and you will approach them and console them with the words of the Prophet: ‘Humanity is susceptible to being deceived’. Fakat sürekli olmaz; bir gün onlar “Keşke” derler; siz de yanlarına sokulur, dersiniz ki, “İnsan, aldanabilir” buyuruyor Hazreti Rûh u Seyyidi’l-Enâm.
‘Every human commits wrong’. “Her insan, hata edendir.”
In fact, it is expressed in the most emphasised form of the word, meaning humans are serial wrongdoers.
‘But amongst all of these wrongdoers, the best is the staunchest repenter’. This person turns to God in repentance, but is not satisfied with this, then turns to God in sincere penitence, but is not satisfied with this too, and turns to God in contrition, not satisfied with this as well. “Ama bu hata edenlerin en hayırlısı da çok yaman, çok yavuz tevbekârdır.” “Tevbe” eder, doymaz tevbeye; “inâbe”de bulunur, doymaz inâbeye; “evbe”de bulunur, doymaz evbeye.
This person’s face is always turned to Him. Yüzü hep O’na müteveccihtir:
‘My God “Allah’ım.
My God. Allah’ım.
My God. Allah’ım.
My God. Allah’ım.
This person says, ‘My God!’ and understands everything that happens is from God. Allah’ım” der ve başına gelen her şeyi O’ndan bilir.
‘Whatever was destined will certainly happen, “Gelir elbet zuhûra ne ise hükm-ü kader
Commit your affairs to God; neither be grieved nor suffer any pain’. Hakk’a tefviz-i umûr et ne elem çek, ne keder.”
‘One who believes in Divine destiny will be safe from despair’ said Bediüzzaman, the victorious spokesman of the century. “Kadere iman eden, kederden emin olur” buyurulmuş; Hazreti Sahipkıran, çağın sözcüsü de bunu kullanıyor.
He says: ‘Good is in what God decides’. “Hayır, Allah’ın ihtiyar buyurduğundadır” diyor.
Who knows the hidden purposes and truths behind you being ‘dispersed’ here and there in all directions?
I won’t say that you have been dispersed. “Saçılıyor gibi” veya “saçılmış gibi” diyeyim de “saçılmış” falan demeyeyim.
Who knows the manifestations of Divine Mercy in you being ‘dispersed’ here and there?
That is unknown. Bilinemez.
There was a time when I wanted to interpret your feelings and I kept saying: Bir zaman sizin hissiyatınıza tercüman olmanın ifadesi de olarak kendi kendime dedim durdum:
‘My God! “Allah’ım.
Spread the ultimate Word of God and the Word of Truth ‘There is no deity but God and Muhammad is the Messenger of God’ and make it visible in all areas of life, just like a rainbow.
Employ us in this task. Bizi bu vazifede istihdam eyle.
Kindle love and acceptance in the hearts of your servants in the heavens and the earth.
Make us sincere, righteous, God-fearing, conscientious, ascetic servants bestowed with closeness to You, who are pleased with their Lord and He is pleased with them, who have pure hearts, who love You and You love them and who look forward to meeting You.’ Bizi muhlis, muhlas, muttaki, vera’ sahibi, zâhid, kurbiyete mazhar, Rabbinden hoşnut ve Rabbi kendisinden hoşnut, kalbi temizlerden temiz, Seni seven ve nezdinde sevilen, Senin likâna ve Habîbi’nin vuslatına iştiyakla dopdolu bulunan kullarından kıl.”
If you have always prayed like this, then what appears to be a rocky journey is the answer to your prayers and part of this journey.
Why are you staying in this small land, this blessed Anatolia?
You will be persecuted there; you will be labeled ‘bandits’ and ‘terrorists’. Orada tazyik göreceksiniz, “eşkıya” damgası yiyeceksiniz, “terör” mührü ile mühürleneceksiniz.
This area is narrow in terms of what you were praying for. Burası, sizin o dediğiniz şeye göre dar esasen.
You need to spread all around the world like seeds. Tohumlar gibi dünyanın dört bir yanına saçılmalısınız.
From a single seed, you must turn into an ear of grain. Tek bir tohum iken, başak olmalısınız.
With God’s blessing, from a single seed sometimes three, four or five ears of grain can emerge and each of these can have ten seeds of grain in them. Allah’ın verdiği bereket ile bazen bir tane tohum, üç tane, dört tane, beş tane, on tane başak olabilir ve bunların hepsinde de on tane dâne olabilir.
Ten ears of grain, each with ten seeds of grain would mean 100 seeds of grain. From 1 seed to 100. On tane başak, on tane dâne; bir tane iken, yüz tane olur.
A verse from the Qur’an points to this: Kur’an’ın bir ayeti, buna işaret buyuruyor:
‘The parable of those who spend their wealth in God’s cause is like that of a grain that sprouts seven ears and in every ear there a hundred grains. God multiplies for whom he wills. God is All-Embracing (with His Mercy) and All-Knowing. “Mallarını Allah yolunda infak edenlerin hali, yedi başak bitiren ve her başakta yüz dane bulunan bir tohum gibidir.
God multiplies for whom He wills. Allah, kime dilerse ona kat kat verir.
God is All-Embracing (with His mercy), All-Knowing’ (Al-Baqarah, 2:261). Allah, (rahmet ve lütfuyla her varlığı) kucaklayan, (merhametiyle kullarına) genişlik gösterendir; (kullarının halini) hakkıyla bilendir” (Bakara, 2:261).
Now this is such an act of Divine Favour. Şimdi öyle bir lütf-i İlahî ki.
It is being forced to do something out of a favour; that is why we call it ‘compulsory migration’. Lütuf yüzünden cebre uğrama söz konusu; onun için “cebrî hicret” diyoruz.
Compulsory migration: Cebrî hicret:
Go on, display throughout the world, as though at an exhibition, the values you possess, values that are based on the fundamental disciplines of your religion and which have become deep-rooted and part of your nature. Gidin, size ait hususiyetleri, dininizin temel disiplinlerinden tabiatınıza mâl ettiğiniz, içinize işlediğiniz, bir derinliğiniz haline getirdiğiniz o değerleri, dünyanın değişik yerlerinde birer meşherde teşhir ediyor gibi teşhir edin.
Put on display those beautiful traditions you inherited from the past. Geçmişten tevârüs ettiğiniz o güzel geleneklerinizi, an’anelerinizi sergileyin.
Those values you inherited which are in conformity with the foundations of the religion: the Qur’an, Sunnah, Consensus of the Ummah and the Deductive Reasoning of the jurisprudents. Geçmişten tevârüs ettiğiniz ve dinin temel disiplinleriyle refere edilmiş değerleriniz ki “din”, “Kur’an”, “Sünnet”, “İcmâ-i ümmet”, “Kıyas-ı fukahâ” buna “Evet” demiş.
And you are displaying these jewels throughout the world much like at a book fair or exhibition.
Humankind has been a witness to this for about 20 years; in no way did it express any displeasure until our nation became obsessed with causing confusion amongst such people. Yirmi küsur senedir insanlık görüyor bunları; katiyen mide bulanması yaşamıyor, bizimkilerin öyle bir bulandırma sevdasına tutulacağı âna kadar.
And it is strange that such cases are more prevalent in the Islamic world.
In this respect, God willing, they will be saved from their pitiful state, but it comes to the tip of the tongue to say: Bu açıdan -inşaallah, o zavallılıktan sıyrılırlar- insanın dilinin ucuna kadar geliyor:
Poor Islamic world... Zavallı İslam dünyası.
Whereas countries such as Germany and Canada open their doors wide. Hâlbuki Almanya, sonuna kadar kapılarını açıyor; Kanada, sonuna kadar kapılarını açıyor.
On what basis do they open their doors? Hem de hangi esaslara dayanarak açıyor:
Do you have any affiliation with the ‘Movement’, with the ‘Hizmet’? “Hareket” ile “Hizmet” ile alakan var mı?
Come through. Geç o zaman.
Do you have any affiliation with the Movement or Hizmet? Hareket ile, Hizmet ile alakan var mı?
Come through. Geç o zaman.
Do you have any affiliation with the Movement or Hizmet? Hareket ile, Hizmet ile alakan var mı?
Come through. Geç o zaman.
And then you have one who says: Biri diyor ki:
Do you have any affiliation with the Movement or Hizmet? “Hareket ile, Hizmet ile alakan var mı?
You are a terrorist. Sen teröristsin.
Have you used this communication tool? Telefon sistemini kullandın mı?
You are that one. Sen osun.
Have you taken up the name of any person affiliated with the Movement or Hizmet?
You are that one. Sen osun.
Have you taken up a position with them? Külahlarını giydin mi?
You are that one. Sen osun.
Did they find a one dollar bill on you? (This must have been given to him from someone). You are from them. Bir dolar filan, üzerinde bulundu mu? -Bir yerden geldi mülahazasıyla- sen osun.
Imprison him for life.’ Müebbet hapis, katlanmış müebbet hapis.”
Let some people say this. Varsın birileri böyle desin.
If the world is opening its bosom to you, this means that you are setting sail to abundant riches from a state of poverty, with God’s permission and grace.
You are setting sail toward a cascade that will take you towards the Almighty God; that will not stop until you reach Him, with God’s permission and grace.
‘You will reach the oceans’ and then ‘Once you reach the oceans, you will evaporate into the skies.’ “Hayır, deryaya kadar yolunuz var sizin” diyor; “Sonra gidip orada buharlaşmaya kadar yolunuz var.
You will evaporate into the skies in the form of droplets of mercy.
You will then merge in the sky and return to the earth as droplets of mercy.
You will nourish humanity with water. İnsanları su ile beslemeye kadar yolunuz var.
You will then form a cascade and run into the oceans.
‘Why are falling into a state of stagnation in a narrow space?’ Ne diye durağanlığa giriyorsunuz dar bir alanda?”
May God also protect that narrow space from the evil deeds of the evil people.
May He protect us from the plots of the degenerates. Füccârın keydinden sıyânet buyursun.
May He protect us from the evils of the tyrants like Amenophis and Ramses. Zâlimlerin, Amnofislerin, Ramseslerin şerrinden muhafaza buyursun, sıyânet buyursun.
That's the matter in a nutshell! Vesselam.
In their apparent form, calamities and misfortunes are ugly and loathsome. At the same time, it is felt as if they are like satanic sparks that strike a human’s neurons, pituitary gland and the thalamus in the brain. Bela ve musibetler, dış yüzleri itibarıyla çirkin, sevimsiz, iç bulandırıcı ve aynı zamanda insanın nöronlarına, Hipofiz bezine, Talamus bezine gelip çarpan şeytanî şerâreler mahiyetinde duyulur, hissedilir.
But you have to look at the outcome. Fakat meselenin sonucuna/neticesine bakmak lazımdır.
This is the perspective of the Qur’an, not our own.
‘It may well be that you dislike a thing but it is good for you, and it may well be that you like a thing but it is bad for you’ (Al-Baqarah, 2:216). “Olur ki, siz bir şeyden hoşlanmazsınız da o şey hakkınızda hayırlıdır; bir şeyi seversiniz ama o şey de hakkınızda şerlidir” (Bakara, 2:216).
For instance, the suffering endured in the path of exalting the Word of God. Mesela, i’lâ-i Kelimetullah istikametinde çekilen çileler.
For that matter, in one manner, consistency of your thoughts and emotions play an important role in spiritual striving, self-discipline and self-exertion on the path of God.
This is what God’s Messenger, refers to as the ‘greater jihad’. Allah Rasûlü’nün (sallallâhu aleyhi ve sellem) “cihâd-ı ekber” dediği şey.
I would like to add another note: Antrparantez arz edeyim:
‘Today, the sword has entered its sheath; the diamond pillars and principles of the Qur’an are prevailing.’ “Günümüzde maddî kılıç, kınına girmiştir; Kur’an’ın elmas düsturları, elmas prensipleri hükümfermadır.”
In a globalising world, wrong choices will give cause to massacres, incessant battles, defeatism and vicious circles. Küreselleşen bir dünyada o türlü şeylere gitmek, katliamlara sebebiyet verir, ardı arkası kesilmeyen savaşlar fâsid dairesine sebebiyet verir, vuruşmalar kısır döngüsüne sebebiyet verir.
Especially with the scary weapons of today. Hele günümüzdeki o korkunç silahlarla.
It is not like the weapons that went off in the WW2 in Japan; they are so powerful that when they explode in one place, they could potentially wipe half of America off the map. 1945’lerdeki, 50’lerdeki Japonya’nın başına patlayan silahlar değil; bunlar, bugün bir yerde patladığı zaman, Amerika’nın yarısını alıp götürecek kadar korkunç silahlar.
Like a Western thinker says; Bir Batılı düşünürün dediği gibi:
‘In a third world war, the victim would be in the grave and the killer in the ICU.’ “Bir üçüncü cihan savaşında, maktûl mezara, kâtil de yoğun bakıma kalkar.”
In contrast to this, your shield, your guard should be to bring out and emphasise human values, affection and inclusion. Şimdi buna karşı sizin kalkanınız, sütreniz, siperiniz, insanî değerleri öne çıkarma, sevgiyi öne çıkarma, kucaklaşmayı öne çıkarma olmuştur/olmalıdır.
Here is a question for you, answer with your conscience: Burada bir şey soracağım, vicdanlarınızla cevap verin:
When you and your companions travelled to different parts of the world, what did you take apart from this, your human values?
You said, ‘We are colour blind’. Efendim, “Biz renk körüyüz” dediniz.
You said, ‘We are deaf’. Efendim, “Duyma sağırıyız” dediniz.
Consequently, you have been tolerant towards the intolerance of others. Dolayısıyla elin-âlemin değişik anlayışsızlıklarına karşı, anlayışlı davrandınız.
Besides the ‘sound and voices’ that they should be aware of, you have been sensitive to other perceptions. Duymaları gerekli olan “mesmûât”ın yanında farklı duyuşları duyucu oldunuz.
In contrast to others, you have used a language to soften hearts. Elin-âlemin farklı dil kullanmasına karşılık, siz, gönülleri yumuşatacak bir dil kullandınız.
Your hearts are like roses; the streets and the markets that you have visited turn into perfumeries.
They opened their bosoms. Bağırlarını açtılar.
When they had to let you go, it was in the name of safety from the evil deeds of the evil ones. Size yol verdikleri zaman da eşrârın şerrinden emniyet adına yol verdiler:
It seems to me that when they said, ‘Go, we will not be able to protect you’, they were deeply grieved. “Gidin, koruyamayacağız sizi” dediler ama zannediyorum yüreklerine kan damlıyordu.
Currently, it seems they expect your return one day when the conditions are right.
May God Almighty show us those days; sooner or later, their evil will be futile along with their malicious diligence, strides and efforts. İnşaallah, Cenâb-ı Hak, o günleri de gösterir; eşrârın er geç akîm kalacak o hâinâne gayretlerini, sa’ylerini, himmetlerini akîm bırakır, inşaallah teâlâ.
Yes, sometimes events may externally seem ugly and vile; however in terms of the interior, it is very pleasant. Evet, bazen dış yüzü itibarıyla, kabuğu itibarıyla çirkin görünen şeyler vardır; fakat iç yüzü itibarıyla çok lâtiftir.
We began with the words the Imam of Alvar: Başta, konuya başlarken, Alvar İmamı’nın sözüyle ifade ettik:
What the noble Adam experienced was a lapse. Seyyidinâ Hazreti Âdem’in yaşadığı, bir zelle idi.
It was a lapse as, ‘Thereafter, his Lord chose him (for His favour), accepted His repentance, and bestowed His guidance upon him’ (Ta-Ha, 20:122).
Then God chose him, made him of the chosen ones, and the ones who came later considered him to be of the ‘chosen, best servants’. Sonra Allah, onu seçti, seçkinlerden yaptı ve arkadan gelen nesiller “Mustafeyne’l-Ahyâr”dan saydılar.
What did they say? Ne dediler?
‘Adam is the Pure One of God’, they said. “Âdem, Safiyyullah” dediler.
‘The wisdom of the true tree is “Hakikî şecerenin hikmeti
the Noble Muhammad’s arrival in this world.’ Dünyaya gele Muhammed Hazreti.”
Prophet Adam was separated from Paradise, however, he was able to call people to that Paradise, and had the honour of becoming a father to a person like the noble Spirit of the Master of Humankind.
‘Thereafter, his Lord chose him (for His favor), accepted His repentance, and bestowed His guidance upon him’ (Ta-Ha, 20:122). “Ama sonra Rabbisi O’nu seçti de, tevbesini kabul buyurdu ve O’nu hidayetine mazhar kıldı.”
May God make it be that way by His will. Cenâb-ı Hak, öyle eylesin, inşaallah.
In that regard, one should always say, ‘There is definitely some good in this’ in the face of trials and tribulations and should add: O açıdan da başa gelen şeyler hakkında “Mutlaka arkasında bir hayır vardır” demeli ve eklemeli:
‘Praise and thanks for everything, other than the states of disbelief and misguidance’. “Ehl-i küfür ve dalaletin hallerinden başka, her şeye hamd ü senâ olsun.”
All praise be to God. Elhamdülillah.
Without going into disbelief, without going into ungratefulness, without going into an unfortunate state of not knowing our noble Prophet, Küfre girmedikten sonra, nankörlüğe düşmedikten sonra, Efendimiz’i tanımazlık gibi bir bahtsızlığa maruz kalmadıktan sonra,
Say, ‘If suffering comes from Divine Majesty “Gelse Celâlinden cefâ
Or fidelity from Divine Beauty Yahut Cemâlinden vefâ
Both are a delight to the soul İkisi de câna saf
Both Your blessings and wrath are pleasing,’ and welcome everything that comes to you with contentment.
One day when you reach that horizon, you will look back and say: Bir gün o ufka vardığın zaman, geriye dönüp diyeceksin:
‘It turns out the path that I walked was a major path. “Meğer yürüdüğüm yol, ne yolmuş.
But some thorns did scrape my feet.’ Ayağıma biraz dikenler battı ama.”
Yes, when I was escaping from Aleppo to Turkey, maybe one thousand thorns pierced my feet; because I had to take my shoes off; we were crossing the border and they could have followed us from our footsteps. Evet, Kıtmîr, Halep’ten Türkiye’ye kaçak geçerken, belki bin kadar diken ayağıma batmıştı; çünkü ayakkabıları çıkarmak icap ediyordu; izlerden takip ederlermiş, sınırı geçiyorduk.
Yes, you will say, ‘It turns out the path I walked was a major path. Evet, “Meğer yürüdüğüm yol, ne yolmuş.
In spite of the thorns that pierced my feet.’ Ayağıma batan dikenlere rağmen” diyeceksiniz.
The thorns that pierced our feet, or being placed into a barrel of pins, or being exiled from the motherland, or drowning as a family in a river.
That family of five, who once drowned in that river.
Looking for somewhere to be safe and accepted before...
As they tried to cross, the fell in and drowned. Geçerken bütün o deryaya daldılar ve boğuldular.
‘So many lives, elegant and peaceful “Nice servi revân canlar
So many rosy-faced sultans, Nice gül yüzlü sultanlar
So many khans like Khusraw Nice Hüsrev gibi hânlar
They plunged into that sea and drowned. " Bütün, o deryaya daldı ve boğuldular.”
Today’s Pharaohs caused this. Buna çağın Amnofisleri sebebiyet verdi.
They were guiding lights, they opened their bosoms for you, but one by one, in one aspect, they all fell like mown wheat.
Thousands... Binlerce.
Thousands... Binlerce.
Now thousands and thousands of people faced various hardships, troubles, anguish and desperation. Şimdi de binlerce, binlerce insan, değişik zahmetler, meşakkatler, ızdıraplar, ıztırarlar içinde.
But this burden, this difficulty should be regarded as a supplication to God. Yes, these hardships should be regarded as a supplication.
As Sufyan ibn Uyayna says, ‘Sometimes because of the supplication of a helpless one, God may forgive a whole community’.
Cry! İnleyin.
Place your foreheads onto your mats, and share what is inside of you with God. Başınızı seccadeye koyun, secdede içinizi Allah’a dökün.
Sooner or later, God is going to dispel the dark clouds surrounding you. Cenâb-ı Hak, bu kasvetli bulutları, bugün olmazsa yarın, yarın olmazsa öbür gün dağıtacaktır.
In this finite life, when one travels to the final abode, ‘Alas, we have been tricked. Şu sayılı günler dünyasında, öbür tarafa gidildiğinde, “Eyvah, aldandık.
We supposed the life of this world to be constant, Şu hayat-ı dünyeviyeyi sâbit zannettik.
and so have lost everything. O zan sebebiyle bütün bütün zayi ettik.
Yes, this passing life is but a sleep; it passes like a dream.
This frail life flies like the wind, and departs.’
To not say, ‘It flows away like a creek, it disappears like a flash of lightning’, one must live every moment of this life to the fullest, with God’s permission and grace.
Yes, ‘It may well be that you dislike a thing but it is good for you, Evet, “Ve hoşlanmayacağınız bir şey olur ki, o sizin için bir hayırdır.
It may well be that you like a thing but it is bad for you’ and what does He say next: Ve seveceğiniz bir şey olur ki, o sizin için bir şerdir” buyurduktan sonra ne diyor:
‘God knows, and you do not know’ (Al-Baqarah, 2:216). “Allah bilir; siz, bilmezsiniz” (Bakara, 2:216).
He knows. O, bilir.
For in the Qur’an it says, ‘The All-Knowing’, but this has not been mentioned amongst the 99 Beautiful Names of God. Zira Kur’an-ı Kerim’de, “Âlim” diyor; Esmâ-i Hüsnâ’ya girmemiş Âlim.
‘The All-Knowing’ is mentioned by Abu Hurayra amongst the Names of God. Sonra, “Alîm” diyor; Hazreti Ebu Hüreyre’nin saydığı Esmâ-i İlâhiyede “Alîm” var.
And there is also ‘The All-Knowing of the Unseen’, which also is not listed in the 99 Beautiful Names of God.
His endless knowledge is expressed in three different modes; at the base level is ‘Al-Alim’ (The All-Knowing), which means the One Who Knows; and then ‘Allam’, in the exaggeration mode, ‘There is nothing that He does not know.’ ‘Whoever does an atom’s weight of good will see it.
And whoever does an atom’s weight of evil will see it.’ Zerre ağırlığınca şer yapan da onu bulur.”
The weight of an atom, electron, neutron, proton, or whatever weight of good or bad done, God knows of all of it, and will treat you accordingly.
May God Almighty allow us to do mountain-sized amounts of good. Cenâb-ı Hak, dağlar cesametinde hayırlar yapmaya muvaffak eylesin.
May He protect us from doing even an atoms weight, or molecules weight of evil. Atom ağırlığı, molekül ağırlığı olsun, şer yapmaktan da bizleri uzak kılsın.
‘My God! “Allah’ım.
Facilitate for us the ability to represent your Divine Truth in our speech, manner and behaviour. Beyan, tavır ve davranışta hak sözü temsil etmeyi ve onu dillendirmeyi bizlere müyesser kıl.
Make our words always circulate around the talk of the Beloved and let them always be pure and true; such that they protect us from void gossip. Sözümüz her dem kıssa-i Cânân etrafında dönsün ve sözün gerçek künhüyle ilgili olsun; öyle ki bâtıl dedikodulardan bizleri alıkoysun.
O All-Merciful One, The One of Majesty and Grace!’ Ey Erhamerrâhimîn, ey Celal ve İkram Sahibi.”
