Gülen Addresses us From Africa...
What kind of feeling has that Kenyan daily, which held an interview with Fethullah Gülen, aroused in people who learned this from our newspaper, Samanyolu TV and some Internet sites?
Personally I feel a little bit disappointed. Now we have a concept and an action leader who exceeds the borders, but unfortunately, we do not appreciate his worth.
Do not underrate the Kenyan newspaper. The Daily Nation is published in Kenya and East Africa and has a circulation of 3.5 million. That is to say, it's circulation is equal to the total of all Turkish newspapers.
Hezron Mogambi, the correspondent of the newspaper, asks Gülen: "What do you think are the problems in Africa and how can they be solved?"
Gülen's answer: "The three greatest enemies, particularly in Asian and African nations, are, IGNORANCE, POVERTY and SEPARATISM. In order to solve these, the struggle must with the dynamics of SCIENCE, HARDWORK and UNITY.
"Today, one of the most dangerous causes of separatism is ethnical-racist separatism. Today, when the world is gradually becoming a small village, nationsshould come together and establish unity, and the universal targets appeal to people all over the world. This kind of separatism is difficult to understand. It is unnecessary and it is a dangerous behavior."
Reading these lines, I extracted the subtle message under the following comments: "I say to my African friend, you understand my Kurdish brother." In fact, the recent speeches and attitudes of Leyla Zana and her friends, the DEHAP chairman and the Diyarbakir Greater Munincipality mayor, inciting ethnic nationalism instead of condemning it and encouraging a terrorist organization, are really hard to understand.
Europe has done away with unity and the borders it set up and has shifted to a joint currency, parliament, governing unity, and an appropriated share of sovereignty. In the target of the advanced democracy, humanity values are accepted. Turkey bidding to join this modernizing project has made successive reforms with an 80-percent public support. Now should we not say what Mr. Gülen said to theAfricans, to those who want to sow seeds of separatism among our Kurdish brethren? What is the reason of your difficult-to-understand, unnecessary and harmful attitudes?
The esteemed Gülen indicates other dangers along with SEPARATISM. They are infidelity and moral decadence eroding societies from the inside.
We have many intellectuals, from all kinds of beliefs, that are concerned about the future of Turkey. The moral decadence, which has reached such a level as to cause worries like, "the end of the state may be nigh," has made our people and establishments infringe on the laws and rules. The entire society is like a fire, burning from the top with corruption to robbery, exploitation, and selling of the soul to the devil in return for fame and consumer goods.
Can't we make preparations for spring with social consensus instead of watching religion gaining power only in appearance or using it as an ammunition for catastrophe?
With the definition of the esteemed Gülen, we should prepare for spring when the gap between the rich and poor narrows, the domestic capital-needy balance is ensured, separatism based on race, color, language, world opinion ends, fundamental human rights and freedoms are approved thanks to the generations that will unify religion and science, fill the minds with science, the hearts with religious, moral and spiritual things.
What do we lose if we try?
