Seventh Turkish Olympics to Start on May 28 in Ankara

This year's International Turkish Language Olympics, a hugely successful competition now in its seventh year, will start on May 28 in Ankara.

Organized by the International Turkish Education Association (TÜRKÇEDER), this year's Turkish Olympics will host 600 students from 115 countries including Afghanistan, Argentina, Venezuela, Benin, Ethiopia, Congo, France, Italy, Uganda, the Maldives and Sri Lanka. The students will gather at the Asya Kizilcahamam Thermal Holiday Village in Ankara on May 27, and the Olympics will start on 10 a.m. on May 28 with activities and contests. While speaking, writing, writing, grammar, poetry, singing, presentation and specific ability contests will be held under the category of “Turkish as a Foreign Language,” essay writing, poetry and general knowledge contests will be held under the category of “Turkish as Native Language.” Thousands are expected for this year's Turkish Olympics, which will be held at the ANFA exhibition center in Ankara. The finals in the song contests will be held at the Haliç Congress Center in İstanbul on June 3, and poetry contest finalists will compete at Bursa's Kültür Park on June 2. The award ceremony of the Turkish Olympics, which will last eight days, will take place at the ASKİ sports center in Ankara.

Students from many nations will take part in shows in Anatolian provinces including Kayseri, İzmir, Erzurum, Kahramanmaraş, Gaziantep and Antalya on June 8-9. This year, 120,000 people are expected to attend the competition.

Last year, Hatice Alizade from Azerbaijan ranked first in the song competition, while Abadan Halmedova from Turkmenistan came in second and Suman Kurbanova from Tajikistan won third place. Adeila Selimaj from Albania came in first in the poetry competition, and Anisa Fitria Dewi from Indonesia came in second. Walaa Tarik Mohamed from Sudan won third place.

A folk dance group from Vietnam won the folk dance contest. It was followed by groups from Azerbaijan and Moldova. In total, 158,000 people attended in last year's activities.
