"Sudanese Students in Turkish Schools an Honor"

Turkish State Minister Kursad Tuzmen laid the foundation of the new building of a Turkish school established five years ago in Sudan's capital Khartoum.

Tuzmen, welcomed by students holding Turkish and Sudanese flags, said, "These beautiful Sudanese children will be the biggest treasures of both countries in coming years." Answering reporters' questions, Tuzmen emphasized this kind of mutual activity must be supported, and said: "If the Turkish people are making efforts towards a goal, I am proud of this. Raising students who know Turkey and the Turkish culture is our honor. I wish Turkey had done this sooner." Khartoum Education Minister Hamid Mohammed Ibrahim pointed out both countries' common denominators in his speech: "It is very important that we have the same religion, we come from the same history and culture."

Minister Tuzmen, on the second day of his visit to Khartoum, was welcomed by Sudan Turkish School students and spoke to them for a while. Tuzmen emphasized he believes children studying at this school will attain important roles in the future, and said "These students will be the authorities of the 21st century. With the Turkish and English education they are have here, they will be among the important people of not only Sudan and Turkey, but of the whole world."

Sudan and Turkey have much in common, Tuzmen noted, "We share such a common geography, culture and religion and come from a glorious history and this is reflected in our trade." Khartum Federal National Minister of Education, Hamit Muhammed Ibrahim told that he hoped the school would contribute to the development of friendship between Turkey and Sudan.

When a reporter suggested Tuzmen is known to be in close contact with Fethullah Gülen and asked him the reality of it, Tuzmen responded: "Turkish investment is about to lay the foundation and I will lead the opening when it's completed. I go anywhere Turkish people invest, without discriminating. I am proud of any efforts made by the Turkish people. We would be happy to see these students being educated. It is our honor to educate students about Turkey and Turkish culture. I think we should support such advantageous activities. I wish Turkey had been successful earlier and perhaps then we would have dealt more easily with thesis such as the Armenian issue. And that is why I can stand everywhere that is beneficial for the Turkish people."
